Horrifying experience. On Wednesday, July 5, 2017, I went to Christian Brothers because my car’s steering wheel was shaking and it was getting worse. I just recently moved to Sun City Center and didn’t know where to take it. I read online that Christian Brothers was family owned and Christian based so I thought I would be in good hands. When I arrived there I told the fella behind the counter that my car’s steering wheel is shaking and it’s getting worse. He told me they didn’t have time to look at it that day. I told him I was very concerned about it and that it was getting worse. He told me again that they didn’t have the time and that I would have to come back in two days. I told him that I was going out of town soon and this issue really concerned me and if they could just take a quick look at my tires. I even mentioned that I read it may only need a balance and that shouldn’t take that long considering it was still early in the day. Again, he said, “No”. He gave me an appointment for that Friday, July 7th. He didn’t seem concerned about the issue. It just didn’t seem that important to him. So, I just assumed it wasn’t anything major. But, I was “very disappointed” in this place as I drove off their lot. I’m 65 years old (woman) and in all my decades of dealing with auto service shops, I have never experienced anything even remotely close to this. I kept the appointment because I assumed it wasn’t anything major based on what he told me and his demeanor. Being new to the area was also a problem as to where to take it. It’s hard to trust anyone anymore. So, I didn’t drive the car the next day. I didn’t sleep Thursday night worrying about getting on I-75 back to their shop in the morning for the 11 o’clock appt. I realized getting on 75 would be a faster route. As I started out Friday morning to go to the appointment, the shaking of the steering wheel started right away. Then it kept intensifying as I got on the ramp for 75. It kept intensifying on the interstate for about 2 miles and then the entire car was shaking. I knew something was about to happen. I thought my entire car was going to just collapse on the interstate. Then, all of a sudden, I heard metal…grinding metal. My tire had blown off and I was driving on metal. I lost control of the car and it just swerved into the other lane. Cars, trucks, and semis were swerving all around me. It was horrifying!! It seemed like an eternity trying to get control of the car. I don’t know how, but I finally made it over to the shoulder of the road. After I tried to pull myself together, I looked back and saw my tire on the interstate. I then managed to call a tow truck. After that, I got out of the car and saw that the front fender/ hood/bumper, was completely smashed up. My tire was just metal. It looked like I was in an auto collision, but I didn’t hit anyone or anyone me, which was incredible. The blowout was so severe it blew right through the body of the car. I was in complete shock over everything. (continued...indicated too many characters)

Update: My brakes were not fixed; they still squeaked. Refused to give CB a 3rd time...took it to Goodyear & brakes no longer squeak. What CB could not do in 2 attempts, Goodyear did in one. Also, CB cost nearly $80 more...gas and time wasted, Response: You did not reach out to me. I reached out to you to fix the problem. You had no other choice other to address/fix the problem since the brakes were under warranty. My confidence & trust has been lost in your service. On a first visit here, I went in to have my front brakes fixed because they were squeaking. After they assessed my vehicle, they confirmed that my front brakes squeaked and needed pads and also my coolant was leaking. I decided to wait in the waiting area because I was informed that the work would take only 2 hours. Well, I ended up waiting over 5 hours! I will say that they do try to make customers feel comfortable in the waiting area, by offering free beverages, which is why I give them 2 stars. As for the mechanical work, my brakes still squeaked and they actually sounded worse. Why didnt they do a test drive to ensure that my brakes no longer squeaked? So I called and explained they still squeaked. I was given an 8:00 a.m. appointment the following week and dropped my vehicle off. At 12:15 p.m. I called to check the status and they had not even started on my vehicle. What is the point of making an appointment if they cannot start reasonably on time? I called back at 2 p.m. and they were still waiting on the pads to arrive. I also asked if new pads had been placed on my vehicle, why did they still squeak. The owner explained that the pads had been defective, which didnt make sense. How can new pads be defective? At approximately 5 p.m. someone called to say that the brakes were fixed and no longer squeaked. Yes, my brakes are now fixed, but it should not have taken a second visit for this to be taken care of. I wasted valuable time of waiting in the waiting room and of traveling back to their shop to correct what should have been done right the first time. I definitely will not return in the future.

My wife and I had recently moved into the area and I was not excited about looking for a good, trustworthy mechanic. We had a great relationship with our mechanic in our old area and I was not looking forward to starting the search and possibly having to spend a lot of money on unnecessary repairs that didnt last while I conducted my search for a new shop. I was extremely happy with the level of professional and friendly service I got from Christian Brothers Automotive. I would have left a review earlier but I wanted to see how the repairs held up. I had occasion to take one of my two vehicles in for a small issue and they fixed it quickly, on time and in my budget. Not long after that I needed to take my wifes car in due to it not wanting to start. Here is where I was interested in finding out how they would handle it. I had high hopes and was prepared for anything. They called me back promptly and told me that it was simply her negative post to the battery that was not making good contact. I asked them to give the entire car a once over and they gave me a list of things that I could and should take care of. The list was easy to understand and they told me which items were more important than others and which ones could wait for a while. I had them do several of the items and waited to see if there were any issues. None. Both of our cars are working beautifully and I am happy to say that Ive found my mechanic for as long as I own a car. I highly recommend Christian Brothers Automotive and tell others about them every chance I get. As a side note, Christian Brothers is more than a name. They are Godly people that take service and reputation seriously. I try to support Christian businesses whenever I can but the service and reliability of their work is what makes this such an easy call.
