Stopped going there awhile ago. Most of the time I went there it was always around $200 or more. I keep all my oil change records and I reviewed them and caught more that they got away with. For instance, I was told my serpentine belt needed replacement. OKAY and they charged me for a serpentine belt and an alternator belt. Hmm. The serpentine belt drives the alternator. So theres an over charge. They also charged for an airbag light diagnosis and a new seatbelt tensioner, well the seatbelt returns as slow as usual and the light eventually comes back (turned out to be a loose connector under the driver seat). Came in for and oil change and wipers, I was talked into a tune-up (even though on their site it says thats an obsolete term because of modern ignition systems that utilize coil over plug ignition), I was charged for the oil change, tune up and wipers. I left with oil change and maybe the "tune up"(I did my plugs later on and they appeared to be OEM motorcraft plugs and intake didnt seem like it was ever removed which is required to gain access to all 6). I had to go back for the wipers which seemed to be oddly difficult to replace for the tech working on the vehicle. They only care about the big ticket items. They talked my mother into getting new struts on a two year old honda civic because they wear out so quickly doing local and highway driving. They lost two customers and respect. It wasnt like I used cheap stuff either, 6 quarts of FULL synthetic. Looking for someone honest? Trust yourself or Express Lube over the Julington Creek Bridge.

Manager knows my name even after 1 year of not showing my face there. Everyone at the front desk is very polite. They will stay after closing hours to make sure your car is ready to go. Very great service! There is one big problem though. A couple years ago, maybe 3 or 4 years ago, I drove in one morning to get an oil change. In my car, one of my cup holders was filled with pennies, nickels, and mostly quarters. I had maybe about $4 in quarters. When the oil change was done, i payed, and drove out of there. I got to a gas station to grab a drink and when i looked into my cup holder, all of the quarters were gone. At first I thought a lot of things but what made the most sense was that someone from Tuffys stole that money. I didnt want to go back there and say someone stole $4 since it wasnt that much money but the fact that someone did steal really bothered me. I know for sure though if I did go back, the manager would immediately take action and fire the thief on the spot. Not saying the place is shady, just one of the workers there is a thief. But this can happen to any auto repair shop, cant blame the owners for these types of people. Just make sure any valuable items is taken out of the car before taking it into the shop.

My go-to mechanic when I lived in Fruit Cove. Loved that they would always be open for all my questions and would always take me back to the shop and explain what they were doing, and why it needed to be done. Also, always showing me all the parts, prices and vendors they use. Where I live now, thats not an option; for instance when I ask where they get parts, they refuse to show me vendors or manufacturer numbers. One time, I went to 3 shops for a suspension issue, telling them specifically which tire the issue was on - none of them could find it. Took it to these guys, didnt tell them which tire, only that I wanted them to check the suspension. They found it , and got replacement parts under warranty...(jackpot) When I go home to visit the family, I always bring my car to them for a check up.

Be very careful using this place. They DO have a habit of "finding" other problems with your vehicle that do not need to be repaired or replaced. About 2-3 years ago I took my Chevy Avalanche in for an oil change & they told me that the shocks needed to be replaced...they told me that it was a DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I couldnt afford to replace the shocks and sensing that the counter person was not genuine, I decided to take it to a Chevy dealer for a second opinion....the dealership inspected the shocks & told me they were fine, they did not recommend replacing the shocks. As of today, I still have the same shocks & am accident free...If you go to Tuffy, "CYA". ALWAYS get a second opinion when you can...I read similar reviews & wanted to share my experience; it left a bad taste in my mouth.

BEWARE! I took my car in for a bad misfiring. After waiting all day, they finally called and told me i needed new spark plugs, wires, and 2 new ignition coils. When i asked them how much they told me $880.00. I couldnt believe it.Went and picked up the car and took it home.A friend took me to get a new set of spark plug wires and plugs. When i removed 2 of the wires, the metal connector inside the wire which connects to the spark plug were broke on the plugs.Managed to get them off and replaced all the wires. The car runs Great now.Didnt even need the spark plugs. They charged me over $100.00 to check the car,but they didnt see that?????They found so many things wrong, but they didnt see that???? I spent $32.00 on spark plug wires.I will never use them again...RIPOFF

Justin...You dont give estimates over the phone?! The worst customer service ever...the counter person couldnt figure out if the car had an upper or lower ball joint. IT ONLY HAS A LOWER BALL JOINT! Are you going to try to sell me repair work on something the car doesnt have?! I ended up calling two other local shops that provide estimates & guess what?...they were only able to provide estimates for the lower ball joint...why?...Because it does not have an upper ball joint! I stopped using Tuffys years ago because they told me my shocks were a driving hazard...took it to another shop for a second opinion and never had them replaced...I still have them! SCAM ARTISTS!...Mr. Thorington, you need better people working for you...

I had two tires put on at this location, and noticed a week later one had a air bubble. Took the car back and they would not replace the tire, trying to turn it around on me that I caused the bubble. I got into an argument on him and he just stood there with a semi smile just saying do you see why there is a bubble. I hot no pot holes or curbs. This is such poor business service. It is under warranty just replace it. They refused and spoke with the owner and he would not. I will NEVER go back to Tuffy. They just lost alot of business by this. **Update, they called me and apologized, and are replacing the tire.

Being fairly new to the area, neighbors had recommended Tuffy Auto Center on Race Track because of their Customer Service. Being a woman, I have always felt like Im getting talked into unnecessary services, parts and just being taken for granted because I am a female. I walked in and was immediately acknowledged and asked what I needed done and actually felt comfortable for the first time. I will definitely recommend Tuffy to anyone, especially women who feel the same way I USED to feel. VERY IMPRESSED!! :)
