Last August 2015 we were looking to have some roof repairs done. Some leaks and minor repairs. After some online research and in-person interviews we chose Doug, Owner of Bill Shields Roofing. They did a great job and his crew was very professional. Last month , we suffered some storm damage, and this crazy idea to improve our deck - which had settled over the last 10 years. If we were going to make improvements to the deck, why not make it better and cover part of it? We once again searched for contractors and Doug was the winner again. he not only was the fairest priced, but shared our vision for the deck as well as other improvements to our property. His crew was professional, friendly and always on time. Their craftsmanship was second to none. They often worked past sundown with our porch lights on, despite the December and January temperatures. Our house is now by far the best looking house in our subdivision. We have receive outstanding comments from all of our neighbors, guests and delivery professionals. I would definitely recommend Bill Shields for any home roofing project you have in mind. He will get the job done professionally and at a fair price Doug takes on the project as if it were his own home. You can find less expensive contractors, however, you really do get what you pay for. He is very professional, honest, ethical and does not try to pressure you into doing more than you feel comfortable with. He will suggest the best way to complete your project - unlike most contractors who simply try to get away with the bare minimum just to get the contract. The lowest bid is not always the best bid.

My family has resided in Tampa since 1951. At the time, Bill Shields Roofing was the best residential roofer in Tampa. Bill Shields Sr. and his son Bill were an absolute pleasure. Mr Shields patched my roof free of charge with the understanding that he would return to re-roof my home at his very first opportunity. Although I had to be patient, the roof was completed per our agreement after 9 weeks. I was so grateful that I waited. I understand that cost cutting measures by new ownership have drastically affected the final outcome and the experience in general. Having lived in Tampa for so long and thus witnessing the changes that have taken place within this company, I would never recommend this roofer to ANYONE. I was so disappointed when I called as not only was the secretary extremely rude it was made obvious that my past experience was just that. I spoke to Doug Shields the new owner assuming the interaction would be made right as it would have by his father. I have never been spoken to with such condescending arrogance. Dougs comments mirrored the secretary with respect to the businesss past ownership. Although I hoped that I would get to speak to Bill, I was unable to finish my sentence before I was informed that Bill no longer had ownership nor any affiliation with the business at all. Having said that, I would absolutely NEVER recommend this company to anyone. If this is how Doug Shields treats an old timer and repeat customer I can only imagine the services and treatment that would be rendered now.

What a relief it is for me to find a reliable, quick and trustworthy company to handle our roofing needs. I originally requested a quote a couple years back, knew the roof was in bad shape. And after the quote came back, Bill Shields took the time to work with me on a plan to fit timing and budget. The professional and kind way they handled the situation, even though we werent ready for the repairs, stuck in my head. Needless to say, two years later I called them to finally tackle the roof and Bob remembered me and options we discussed. A few days later they came out and fixed the extensive roof repairs and coated the roof to protect it from this Florida weather... all in maybe 6-7 hours. They personally met us at the house, sent me pictures throughout the process and sent an updated invoice to show proof of payment. I am very happy we went with Bill Shields Roofing. Bob and team handles customers like family. And when my mom asked about a senior discount, I really liked the way he handled my mom and he worked with us to make her happy. I will continue to recommend them and they will be the company Ill call for any future roofing needs.

We use Bill Shields Roofing for many of our properties as well as our home. They have always responded promptly and professionally. Most importantly they are an honest company you can trust! I had another company totally take advantage and did poor workmanship which cost me greatly. How do you know right? I called the City to complain and asked for a referral. Without hesitation, they said Bill Shields. We have used them for years and now they are the only company I will call. If you do not need the repair or roof they will tell you. If you do they will give options. Their prices are fair, and they do quality work you can trust. I can tell you from experience: they are more interested in building relationships, having work over the long haul than making a quick buck. I recently referred an elderly friend knowing they would steer her correctly. Thank you for your kindness! Many of their employees have worked for them for decades and that says something. Terrible quality of work and would never use Bill Shields Roofing again. Furthermore, Doug Shields keeps himself well hidden and out of the complaint zone by having his administrative assistant screening the calls. Requested to speak to Doug several times and it never happened which is a sign of poor customer service to correct a problem. South Tampa, steer clear of this roofing company and I am sure Mr. Bill Shields would be disgusted with the direction his originally owned company is heading. Spiralling downward. I am a firm believer in karma, so what goes around, comes around, Bill Shields Roofing Company!

Hands down the best roofing company around. Ive always believed that you get what you pay for...spend cheap, get cheap. The prices are fair and the client focus is superior. I needed to speak with Doug Shields about an issue and he called me back within minutes. I also like that he uses almost exclusively Owens-Corning materials and my research showed those were the best. I will always call Bill Shields roofing for any of my roofing needs.

They explained the pros and cons of all the options available to me and offered them at a great price. There work was well done and looks great. Two thumbs up!! After an ordeal with a different roofer that I terminated I was led to Bill Shields roofing who immediately calmed the storm with wisdom and experience to tackle the project involving adding solar tubes and skylights. This roofing company is horrible. They left the roof unfinished for weeks after multiple promises of dates when it would be finished. Our closing on this house was delayed numerous times because the inspector would come out and the roof would not be done. I would never recommend this company to ANYONE, not even my worst enemy. Protect yourself and go with someone else!
