I took my laptop in after an attempt to update to Windows 10 caused major problems with its functionality. I booted it up with the employee there and pointed out the documents, pictures (2000+), and music (6000+) files that needed to be transferred onto the external hard drive I brought in, followed by a system restore, and I was told it would probably be done the next day. I did get a phone call the next day, but it was to tell me that the worker (a different one) could not find any music files. They were located in the default area for iTunes music, which worried me at the time, but I was able to guide the person through over the phone to the file location and I reiterated that it was very important that my (over 30GB) music get transferred, along with my pictures and documents, and even said that if they didn’t find what I specified, they should not wipe the drive and give me a call back. I did not get a call back, though they said they would also do so when it was done, and I waited a week with no call before going back to the store to get my computer back. The employee who I originally dropped it off to brought it to me with no mention of any issues with the process, but when I booted it up there to make sure everything was successful, only A-C of my music files were transferred (1-2 gigs), and there were no documents or pictures anywhere. I asked where the rest of my files were and was told that was all they could find. At first he told me that he didn’t know what happened because his manager had been the one to do the work, but later he contradicted himself and said he was the one to transfer all the files and that there were no others. When I explained the phone call I had earlier in the week, stressing the importance of getting all the files I specified, along with reminding him of the same conversation that took place with him when I dropped the laptop off the previous week, he was not apologetic at all, but was rude and condescending when trying to “explain” how they somehow didn’t fail miserably in doing the job they were tasked to do. He had no explanation of why they moved forward with wiping my hard drive after not transferring all of the files I requested, other than saying that they don’t want to invade people’s privacy by going through their files, and that the hard drive must have been corrupted if that was all that transferred. (Side note – they had all of my personal files on a computer in the back of their store along with other customers’ files – keep this in mind when you bring a computer to a repair store.) Now I am stuck with with a computer that is missing thousands of priceless pictures, including my wedding pictures, and over 17 years worth of music I’ve been collecting for the better part of my life. And after all that, he still wanted me to pay for the file transfers that they completely botched! I chose this business because it had good reviews online, but they didn’t do the job they were hired to do, didn’t seem to care at all when I pointed it out, and tried to make me feel like an idiot for bringing up the fact that they didn’t follow my very specific, repeated instructions on what was most important to me about the process. I hope more people don’t make the grave mistake of giving MIT Computers their business!

So my issue started with my computer not booting up properly. I researched about it and attempted some fixes that didnt actually solve the core issue with it as I was not certain of what was causing the problem. I had tried everything except reinstalling windows. Before I did this, I went to ask the people at MIT Computers if reinstalling windows would fix this issue. They told me it would not. I bring my computer in and pay them 40$ to diagnose what is wrong with it. The next day they tell me on the phone that it is not an issue with the hard drive or ram, so it must just be a corrupt OS. ಠ_ಠ Next they tell me that it will be a total of 199$ to fix it. I was astounded. I asked where the 199$ comes from and they say that is their standard charge for reinstalling OSs. They also tell me that I will need a new windows 10 product key. I asked if I can just get my computer back in the state that its in and they said yes. Picked up my computer at about 6:30 and was home at 6:45. I reinstalled windows myself and my computer was working fine by 7:00. Not to mention that I DID NOT need another windows product key. The fact that they are charging 199$ for something so trivial is an insult. My guess is that money is made extremely off the customers that dont quite understand what they are doing and so they pay the fees anyway. Something so small as reinstalling an OS should come with the 40$ I paid them. I would not advise you use this company unless you know about computers yourself or have absolutely no where else to go. Update: So it turns out the issue wasnt even with the OS, it was a problem with the Motherboard. The first guys diagnostic was right without even seeing the computer, but somehow when they actually have it they cant even properly test it. I still dont suggest this store unless its a trivial problem you have.

SCAM!!!! Zero stars. Took a mini iPad in to replace the screen. Simple fix. Had to take it in three additional times bc they kept breaking the functionality of the iPad (camera, home button, etc). Clueless people. At one point I called after a week and a half to see whats going on and they havent touched it bc they didnt have passcode. Of course nobody called me. This last time I called to get an update and in their usual response "itll be finished today". I stopped by three days later and they never touched it. After all is said and done, someone who was working on it apparently broke it more and they would need to replace the entire iPad. Since it was only three months old I requested a new one and not a refurbished one. At that point, the Arabic language was flying (rude to begin with) and they retracted and said they would like to fix it. At that point there was no way in hell I was going to trust them to "fix it". So I asked for my money back and now Im out more money because of their gross negligence and incompetence. Run far far away from these people!!! Theyre bad people! ***Update- took to reputable place and they told me MIT shorted the screen and its beyond repair. So MIT broke iPad, refused to buy me new one and now o have to spend another $300 to buy my daughter a new one. POS !

So a couple of months ago I took my laptop in due to an issue with a flickering screen. $40 diagnostic and $120 to replace the screen even though I was told the main issue was the cable. Apparently the new cable was only compatible with a new screen. fast forward a couple of months and the screen issue is back. I took it back and now the new guy wants $40 again to diagnose the same problem that they already "fixed". I refuse and he agrees to diagnose the issue anyway. Next day and he calls saying the screens cable needs replacing and it is a very expensive one that will cost $289 to buy and fit. Ive looked up the cable both on the Lenovo site and eBay and the most expensive version I found is $62 and the cheapest $8. When I went in to pick up the laptop the guy changed his story twice about how much the cable would cost and when I asked to speak to the manager he became frustrated and told me to take the laptop and leave. I still wish to get hold of the manager and will look to make a formal complaint against the business. Terrible customer service and clearly trying to rip people off.
