I have been coming here for nearly three years. My initial visit was due to the proximity to where I work, as I can drop off my vehicle and walk to my office, then just walk over and pick it up at the end of the day. Since I have been coming here, I have never had a single issue with any aspect of my experience, be it with customer service of interacting with Barbara at the front desk (who will always greet you with a friendly smile, even if shes having a hectic busy day....which she usually is), or the overall service of the work done for my truck. I am not the most mechanically inclined person, but I have many mechanics in my family so I know when someone is trying to screw me over. I have never had that issue here. They have always been 100% honest with me, and have given me multiple options for repair or replacement if available. All staff members have always been exceptionally courteous, and will go out of their way to make sure I am happy. This brings me to my most recent experience. My truck finally reached its first major issue. I was having problems with my clutch and decided to bring bring it to a mechanic I trust. I knew this was going to be a big job, as my truck had recently passed 120k miles and was still on the original clutch. After checking her (Betty) out for a bit, they call me up and report the damage. I needed a fair amount of work done, and they quoted me much less than what I expected for such a large job. Dont get me wrong, the bill was hefty, and it stung my soul a bit to pay it, but anywhere else Im sure it would have been much more. This isnt the main point though. This is where I absolutely fell in love with this place. During the repairs, the mechanics came across a few other small issues. Not only did they go ahead and fix them for me, but they didnt even charge me for them. On top of that, after I returned my rental car and came to pick Betty up, they came across yet another unforeseen issue that required Betty to stay one more night!!! The main problem with this is that I had already returned my rental car. So the manager, being the fantastic human being that he is, immediately admitted to their fault, and without hesitation he made sure that I had a free ride to get home that night, and back to work the next morning. Now THAT is customer service!! At the end of it all, Betty was returned to me purring like a kitten, and I was one happy customer. So in conclusion, my hats off to you Gentlemen and Lady. If I could give you 10 stars, I would. You have earned a customer that will give you and only you his business so long as I am in the Tampa area. I highly recommend you use this location! One fair warning though! Due to how awesome they are, they do tend to get busy. So make sure you call ahead to find out if they can fit you in that day! If you get there before 8am, its typically not a problem.

Looking to find a place for automotive services that was both dependable and even remotely pleasurable always had been a daunting task. Lets face it, none of us enjoy shelling out hard earned money for preventive maintenance but if you want to protect your vehicle its a given. I had grown tired of the nasty attitudes and the fear of the shady practices to add services that may or may not be needed just to dishonestly take more money from an unsuspecting customer. Well, all this is in the past since finding McGee. The service is prompt, the people are extremely attentive and most of all, pleasant! The Publix of auto service lets say. I had an issue that even an honest automotive center could have asked for more money but McGee understanding my financial situation at the moment kindly stepped up and took care of. This was not expected, nor should it have been but this is the kind of people I have met here. Please, I urge you to give them a shot. From the first greetings from Barbra (sp?) up front until you get your keys back, you will not be let down. Kudos McGee of downtown Tampa, you get the big picture. The little things you do guarantee a customer for life here. Thank you P.S. Clean and comfortable waiting area and fresh coffee are an added bonus!

Ive worked in down town Tampa since 1999 and Ive been taking my cars over to McGee Auto Service for quite a number of those years. Theyve repaired and changed tires, changed oil, batteries, brake shoes, even windshield wipers in about 3 different vehicles for me over the years. I drop it off in the morning on my way in, walk down the street to my office telling them Ill be back at lunch to pick it up. And its ALWAYS ready at lunch, but sometimes Im not. There have been at least 3 occasions that I forgot I dropped my Car or Truck there for oil changes, but the folks at McGee HAVE NEVER left me high and dry. They always call to remind me before they close. One evening the young man waited for me to get there AFTER they closed. At McGee Auto Service, theyre not just professional and reliable, theyre also thoughtful.

Ive been coming to this shop for years now and I must say, this is really a class act operation. A lot of what I do is DIY but, that being said, the prices are VERY fair, the technicians are all very friendly and knowledgeable, and Jesse has always been great! They go above and beyond and are always very happy to show and explain to you the actual issues that arise; always will give you a true no BS assessment. Its a fantastic shop and I would go here over the Infiniti dealership ANY day of the week. As a side note, I put in a quote request about a year ago through an online submission and received an email back within the hour from the district manager, Stephen Novak with incredible prices. THAT is customer service!

I have been a McGee customer for many years. My main location was the one in Carrollwood. Recently moved to South Tampa and took my car for service to the Downtown location. At first I was hesitant to go to a different place because I had no idea how reliable, honest, or professional another location would be. It actually turned out to be a great experience. The customer service is SUPERB! I mean, all employees are courteous and honest (which is hard to find in these kind of businesses). I thought it would be one of those places where you would have to sacrifice something but was glad to have been proven wrong. Thanks to their awesome work ethics, they will have another loyal customer.

Ive been to McGee several times over the years. I havent encountered a single person there, whether it was a tech or a manager, that wasnt knowledgeable and honest. I do a lot of my own work on cars, and what I bring to shops is often something weird that I cant figure out or something I just dont want to do on my own. McGee has not once let me down, over the course of owning and needing service on three or four vehicles. Theyre the first shop that comes to mind when I need work done. The last time I was in there, they said they were changing to a Tire Choice, but that the personnel wasnt changing. Thats enough for me to keep going to them for auto work.
