My experience with Computer Advantage was 100% positive. After being unable to get an appointment at the Birmingham Apple Store at the Summit Genius Bar (seriously, its nearly impossible to get an appointment), I was referred to Perry Computer Services in Birmingham by an Applecare representative. My experience with Perry was horrible (since they refused service, I was unable to complete a survey to explain my displeasure with the way they treated me). After the horrible treatment at Perry, I found Computer Advantage in Newnan, GA. I contacted them and explained my issues and received enough information that I felt comfortable making the 4 hour round trip drive to have them service my Mac Mini. Yes, I drove 4 hours to drop off my Mac Mini. I had to do this due to the long wait to get an appointment at the Apple Store, the horrible treatment at Perry and Apple’s ridiculous policy of not allowing Mac Minis to be shipped by customers. Upon arrival, I was seen immediately by staff. The check in process was extremely smooth. They provided a level of service that exceeded that which I expect to receive at the actual Apple Store. Computer Advantage staff, especially Larry Roth, honored every promise and representation they made to me, which is much more that I can say for Perry and even Apple. The repair was completed on time as promised. I did have one minor issue but Computer Advantage staff went so far above and beyond what was required to “make it right” that the experience actually endeared them to me and make me more likely to use them in the future. One of the highlights of my experience with Computer Advantage was the overall friendliness of the staff. It was just an awesome experience to interact with them. To further explain how happy I am with the experience, my mid-2010 iMac will soon be in need of service and I plan to make the 4 hour round trip to Computer Advantage, (8 hours if I have to leave and return for pickup) rather than drive to Birmingham which is only an hour away to use the Genius Bar or Perry Computing.

On November 13, contacted Computer Advantage for basic information regarding the purchase of a new iMac. Was able to talk to a live person on the second ring after punching #1. Michael, the sales rep, was extremely helpful; provided the inventory they had on hand; advised of their trade-in policy (usually not even considered by many of their competitors; and advised the availability of their technicians -- all without having to ask some questions that we did not know how to ask! On 16 November, called Michael to check his availability on 16 November. When I arrived with my old iMac, Michael and the technician (Nic) were immediately available; advised the team what I wanted; asked to have a number of files transferred; and requested a time the next day that we could pick up the new computer. Was in and out of Computer Advantage within 15 minutes, and that included looking at some additional computers for other family members. The following day, picked up the new computer; Michael and Nic advised precisely what we needed to accomplish in setting it up; advised of some additional what ifs; and in very short order the process was accomplished, and we were on our way. Within minutes, we had our new system up and operating with new Wi Fi features, with all files as they were prior to purchasing the new iMac. Have purchased a number of computers on the South Side and Cumberland Mall. The experience at Computer Advantage was by far the best experience we have had the pleasure of having in 20 years of purchasing computers! A great, caring team with expert technical knowledge! This store has a lifetime client.

I purchased a macbook pro mid-2010 direct from apple w/ applecare. I took my laptop into Computer Advantage to be serviced for a replacement battery, a sticky shift key and an issue where it sometimes crashes immediately (reboot) when being physically moved. I was told that my battery which was at a 1200 count cycle was categorized as "depleted" and it would cost $160 to have a new one installed. The technician then told me that he discovered a water indicator that was triggered between my fans. (I never saw it, and neither did Apple when they serviced it) He said that if he continued, I would be charged between $1,500-$1,600 to fix and resolve my 3 issues. I said no thank you and to please put my computer back together. They charged me a $25 diagnostic fee for removing only the bottom cover. I setup an apple appointment at Lenox Mall and drove up there. Apple replaced my Logic Board to fix the random shutdown w/ reset during use. They replaced the battery (free of charge) and installed a whole new Top Case w/ Keyboard to resolve the sticky keys. This took longer than my short visit to the store and I didnt want to drive back up to Atlanta, so Apple conveniently mailed my laptop back to me. I had it back in my hands within 48 hours. Apple charged me $0.00 as everything was covered under AppleCare. In my opinion, the technicians at Computer Advantage are trying to take advantage of their customers. I will never buy anything else from Computer Advantage and I highly suggest taking your computer directly to Apple for any repairs.

This store is unfortunately the only place convenient to Fayette County that can fix Macs, but it is totally worth your while to drive the hour or so to a real Mac Store. I went there to have them diagnose my Macbook, and not only did they give me the wrong diagnosis (saying that it would cost upwards of $850 to fix my Macbook), they didnt even take apart my computer to check it out. Basically they took my money and lied to my face. They never called me to pick up my computer, and when I called to check on the status, they said to me, "Thats been ready since yesterday." Oh, and while I was there, one of the employees offered to fix it "off the books". Can you say shady? If you have a Mac problem, I suggest you look at the forums first, and if that doesnt pan out, go to a real Mac Store. Stay away from this place!!! OH, and the 2 stars are there because the people were amiable, even if they have questionable business practices.

I bought a Macbook Pro at Best Buy recently. When I had some questions, I returned to Best Buy for answers. They couldnt be bothered to help me. By chance, I drove by Computer Advantage and saw the Apple logo in the window so I decided to stop in. SO GLAD I DID! Two employees were ready to help me as soon as I walked in. They answered my questions and suggested that I might like their personal training. I signed up and was there the next week. For only $35 I got an hours worth of one-on-one training with an actual Apple Certified Trainer. This guy was so helpful and made me even more excited about my new computer. I feel so smart using my computer and knowing all the little Apple "tricks" (like Apple C, Apple V, etc). Yes, I admit I was pretty Apple illiterate but not any more. If you need an Apple product or just want to know how to use what you have better, this is the place!

Overall, a terrible experience. I brought my macbook pro in when it suddenly stopped working, and was told at the store it needed a new hard drive. $200 later, I pick it up and take it home, only to find that it doesnt even boot. I plugged it in and got the computer to start, but got an error message stating that my battery was shot. I calmly called back to the store to report the issue, and they informed me that I could bring it back in and would need to spend nearly $300 to have it replaced. I specifically remember my battery working just fine, and in fact was told by the technician that it was working properly upon diagnostics. The manager was beyond rude to me and accused me of lying, and my overall experience with this place was a nightmare. I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. I will simply buy a new computer else wear, merely as to not interact with this staff ever again.
