After dealing with Paul individually, personally, since my husband left last year, Pauls business practices have proven shady at best. He plays on emotion saying he doesnt want me to be stranded yet after today its proven He has taken advantage of my automotive ignorance and is not trustworthy. After years of doing business with him, because of my husbands choice, I wonder how many unnecessary repairs have been done or told they were done but were not because they really werent needed in the first place. I would not take the time to report except I would not want another single mom, already in financial duress or anyone for that matter, to be taken advantage of too. Read on for more detail. Last November I brought my 1999 Ford Windstar in to R.A.R. and Paul, the owner, insisted it needed over $2,200 in work. I was evaluating my budget and after my parents told me they would help me, I determined I would purchase another vehicle. Paul said they would not be able to start working on the vehicle until Monday but when I informed Paul on Saturday of my decision, he said hed already started & done over $900 of work so I felt between a rock and a hard place and proceeded with finalizing the work already started without my authorization. I had gotten into an accident a few weeks later in Nov. 2013 and my cousins gave me their 2002 Ford Windstar which I proceeded to take to Paul and have over a $1,000 dollars of work done he insisted it needed to be safe. He said I also needed a new battery and tires but told him I would hold off thinking I would go to Sams club because theyre less expensive. I did not have the money and did not replace even though Paul claimed it needed to be done. The battery, through a brutal 2013-14 winter, started up every day with no issues. My last visit to Paul at Reliable on 4-8-14 after purchasing a 2005 Ford Escape from Honda McGrath over the weekend, Paul said it was a clean vehicle but would need the serpentine belt replaced as it was rotting and cracked as well as other maintenance totaling $875.19. Today 4-9-14, I took it back to the dealership and they showed me the belt was new. They also said they did all the maintenance and did not need for another 25,000 miles. I proceeded to take back to Paul at RAR and asked him to show me the cracks and dry rot. I told him the belt showed the most minor ware and looked new and he said he could take it out and show me but hed have to charge me. Right after talking with him I proceeded to take to another mechanic in Batavia to get a third opinion as I am not mechanically inclined. The third mechanic said it looked new too and said it did not need to be replaced.

I had taken my van into another shop for just an oil change and was told I needed to have a ton of work done and was quoted a price and pressured into having the work done right then and there. I felt uncomfortable and told them no. Wanting to make sure that my van was safe to drive, I decided to get a second opinion and found Reliable Auto on the web. I spoke to Paul (who is the owner) about my concerns and agreed to take my van in. He was completely upfront with me and I felt very comfortable there. His receptionist even gave me ride home so I could leave my van there for the day. I hate that uneasy feeling when you know that someone is trying to take advantage of you...especially when it comes to car/home//etc. repairs. I am so glad that I have found a car repair place that I feel is trustworthy. And for the record, the first place that had said I needed to have a ridiculous amount of work done...yeah I only needed about half of what they said actually done, and they were charging me WAY more than was reasonable. No wonder they wanted to me to sign on the dotted line right then and there! Always trust your instincts!!!

This was the first time I took my 2008 Honda to Reliable Auto. One word, AMAZING! All I needed was some basic maintenance and was very surprised to find that they not only took care of the maintenance that I needed, but they also checked the car overall and gave me a full report. They kept me informed throughout the entire process, gave me information for future maintenance and had a quote ready for the work that will have to be done in the future. Everything was explained to me in detail, but in a way that was very respectful and informative rather than condescending as I have experienced at other auto shops. This is an auto shop that truly respects their clients time and money. My husband and I just moved from Naperville to North Aurora and we were struggling to choose a new auto shop after going to the same place for quite some time. We could not be happier to have found Reliable Auto Repair. I know I can take my car there and get all of the information and service I need at a reasonable price. Try them out, you wont be disappointed!!!

I do not live in the area but was purchasing a pre-owned vehicle in Batavia. I wanted to have the car inspected so I went on yelp and looked for a nearby shop with a good rating, Reliable Auto Repair was the first to pop up. I gave them a call and B.J. could not have been nicer! I ended up having to call several times because the dealer didnt drop it off on time and I never felt like I was bothering them. They finally received the car and did the inspection right away. The price of the inspection was $49, which was a crazy good deal. My own mechanic who I love and trust charges $200. Anyway, for $49, I thought I would get a phone call with "yes this is good" or "dont buy this car" but I received an extremely detailed report with photos! I could not be more thrilled with the service and if I lived in Batavia this would for sure be my mechanic! Thank you for the phenomenal customer service!

I decided to take my car to Reliable Auto Repair because of the online reviews. I am always a bit skeptical, but all the reviews are spot on. Paul and his team at Reliable Auto Repair are great. I knew going in that I needed rear brakes and an oil change. They never tried to BS me. They gave me a couple options (the best way, and the cheaper way) and let me make the decision. No pressure on me at all. They gave me a loaner car for the day (I think they only have a couple, so it is first come first serve). They were all about my convenience, not theirs. All that said, they have a new customer and I will be going back. If youre looking for a place for you car, I recommend these guys.

Its never fun to have a car repaired but BJ explained everything that needed to be done very well in language I understood. He was patient and very accommodating while I went back and forth a couple of times, then re-explained everything to my husband. Once we made the decision to go ahead with the repair we didnt have any regrets! The work was done on time and under the original estimate. He found ways to save us money and gave us back a car that drives perfectly. We found our mechanic in Illinois and that one is checked off the list - and they have a great fish tank with fish that look like Dori and kept my grandson mesmerized while he waited :)
