I brought my 1993 BMW E34 wagon here to get a coolant "flush" an oil change and to get my wheels balanced. This work was done right around the beginning of winter. They were having a small sale on the coolant flush for 55$ "I thought to myself what a great deal"! Seeing as i would spend just about the same if I did the work myself plus my labor of course. I decided to go with them because of there reputable name, their sale and there located about 5 minutes from my work. Very convenient. I went and dropped of my car and went back to work. About 1.5 hours later i get a call that my car is overheating and they have no idea why! I immediately leave work to go look at my car. I walk in and start talking to the manager... she has no idea whats going on. I go and talk to the young gentleman that had performed the services on my car. He tells me step by step what he did for my "coolant flush". He said "i open the coolant cap and the drain plug, let all the coolant drain. Then i closed up the drain plug, filled the radiator with coolant and closed it up...." THAT IS NOT A COOLANT FLUSH! as soon as he told me what he did i knew why my car was over heating. When he opened my radiator cap and opened my drain plug he let air into my cooling system. than he put coolant into my radiator which clogged my radiator hoses with air. My car wasnt cooling down because my thermostat was stuck. There should be no air in your cooling systems! They had the audacity to try and charge me for the services they did. I refused to pay for the coolant flush" but i did pay for the oil change they did.... Now i have to tow my car to my mechanic for him to tell me whats going on. On his inspection he confirmed everything that i was thinking. I ask him to please fix my car. He performs a real coolant flush and gets my thermostat to work again. It went from 55$ to 250$ to fix there mistake., a whole lot of grief and stress. thank you. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I will never go back to this unprofessional place. If you are like me and love your car, please dont go here. My mechanic said i was extremely lucky that i didnt crack my head gasket or crack my engine block.

On several occasions they have done a poor or incomplete job on my 97 Jeep Wrangler. One visit they left parts unattached causing my jeep to idle poorly and at very high rpms. I returned there on complaints that the bushings on the sway bar links that they replaced were bad as they were cracked and my jeep would lose control and shudder uncontrollably. When they looked at it, they assured me that it was the drag link and then charged me to have it replaced, leading me to believe that this would fix the problem. When I took the jeep onto the road, there was no improvement and I would lose control at the slightest bump. To make matters worse, they went under the hood for reasons I dont understand and failed to properly latch the hood. Not knowing about this, I merged onto an expressway when the hood flew up into the windshield, blocking my view, cracking my windshield and smashing the hood in so that it will not close properly without pressing on the radiator. When I called them to complain about this problem, they claimed that they always latch the hood, refused to do anything about it and then proceeded to try and sell me more solutions to the original problem. Every time I go in there or whatever reason, the owner of the place offers to buy my jeep for less than I paid for a single visit at their overpriced shop.

The worst place for service and horrid customer service. Last year 2015 my friend was driving my 2005 Honda Ridgeline and it needed an oil change and brake job. He thought he was doing me a favor, but I always use J1 Auto Repair In Lombard. He took it to Merlin 200,000 @ 600 North Ave, Glendale Heights, IL 60139. They charged him over 750.00 for the brakes. In the past I never paid more then 400.00 with new rotors and pads. When they replaced the oil plug the stripped the threads and it leaked. I didnt notice for a few weeks since I drive my 2013 CR-Z as my daily driver. In that time the entire oil fill leaked out. When I called them they question why I waited and if I hadnt stripped it myself or someone else. I was pissed off. They also gave me times I had to bring it in and since I have a job I just gave up and took it to John at A1 and he fixed it my replacing the oil pan (where the plug is) gasket and replaced the oil. I could not find them on Yelp so I am leaving the review here

The guys at this shop have been great! #1 reason is because they didnt treat me like a "chick". Its stereotypical but it happens way too much with this industry. I brought my car in for a muffler or exhaust issue and Scott (manager??) checked it out and told me what was wrong (exhaust pipe came apart). He told me what my options were. I checked it out w my mechanic friends who said his options were legit and the pricing was actually quite fair. Three days later I brought my car back because the motor for the windshield wipers stopped working. Hussein (sp??) was very helpful with that and after assessing the problem, told me the problem and what my options were. For those two times Ive dealt with them, I was very pleased. They estimated an amount of time for each repair and they were very spot on with that - time issues are very important to me! Great overall customer service, the mechanics were knowledgeable, and they were all very efficient.

I went to this Merlins several times over the past 3 years for various exhaust work on my familys vehicles and I considered them to be a good shop as the work was always done well, timely and at a fair price. Well, I went in recently to get my cats. checked and they turned out they were fine, but I was told "Your back brake pads are gone" "Want us to throw some on for you real quick"? I told them no as I have a mechanic that does brake work for me. Guess what, the pads have about 50% life left on them. Merlins was trying to sell me brake pads I didnt need. BUYER BEWARE! I called and informed the manager of the situation. He said, "Oh that mechanic no longer works here", I never told him my name, what car, or who worked on it. He immediately said that mechanic is gone without even knowing who I was talking about. I think this says a lot about the ethics at Merlins in Glendale Heights. Josh

When I got the oil changed at this shop first time, I was told that the flex pipe was not in good shape. So, I had it replaced in couple of weeks at this shop. But, after the change at that day, I heard the whisper sound when I pushed the gas pad during the driving. They said it took time to carbonize (I dont understand the reason !). The whisper didnt go away after I drove a week. I visited the shop two times and they told me that the guy who did the job was off that day. They tried to persuade me to replace more parts to fix the problem and I didnt agree. Finally, they replaced the flex pipe which they welded a week ago in the fourth time I visited the shop. Finally, it got fixed. Its obvious that they are using the poor quality part. And the attitude for the problem is not accepted (I felt the guy fooled me with the "carbonize" theory). I dont trust this shop. I never go to the shop again.
