Sunset Automotive is where my family brings our vehicles for repair. We moved to Lake Bluff a few years back and have had many issues with our cars. We as consumers look for honest quotes, fair pricing, quality repairs and good solid advice as to what our vehicle needs to repair the issues at hand. Hector is as good as it gets! Hes trustworthy, knowledgeable and explains what is going on in your car in laymans terms and makes the repairs needed at an extremely affordable price. I can stop by and he diagnosis the issues and gives me an estimate in a very timely manner. If I have a question about my vehicle and I am on the road, I can call him and he is available and has the answers. I have been to many auto repair shops in my past and I can sincerely say that Sunset Automotive is the most trustworthy, affordable, quality auto shop we have ever used. If you have any issue with your vehicle, take your car to Sunset Automotive. They are the best around.

My first time there I got hub bearings done. Hector wasnt there it was some other guy, but he told me a price over the phone and when I paid charged me more. The 2nd time something broke and Hector hooked up to the machine told me my emissions went bad so I didnt get fixed but chanced that I may pass emissions test I went and I did pass. They just wanted to rip me of over 300 dollars I am glad I didnt fix it. Then I wanted to buy 2 new tires and he ordered them I dropped my car of 1 half later calls me telling me the place he ordered from did not have anymore of the ones i wanted but if I wanted to spend more money he could get me different ones I was so angry I told him no I just want my car he told me he had to put back on my old tires. Ready in half hour. Every time was an bad experience with them. Sunset is the worst mechanics I ever been to. BEWARE of rip off Hector and pals.

Weve been coming to this location, also known as #2 located at 11 N. Waukegan Rd, in Lake Bluff, and Sunsets other Lake Bluff location at 13 Skokie Valley Rd, for years. The staff at each shop is friendly, professional, caring, and accommodating. Whether we bring our car(s) in for a simple headlight bulb change, an oil change, a more significant pricey issue like a transmission problem, and/or everything in between, they are more than capable of repairing them all. Sunset is one of the very few businesses where we feel that they truly care for their clients as well as the clients safety. As far as their pricing, they are very competitive and more than fair. We recommend Sunset to everyone looking for a trusted partner in caring for their vehicles. Make them your first choice, like we do, when you need any auto care. You cannot go wrong with this company!

We are new to the Lake Bluff area from Colorado where we had a great auto repair man. When our truck started to have an unusual noise we asked neighbors in the Hamptons who people went to, and they all said: "go see Hector at Sunset Automotive on Waukegan in Lake Bluff, hell take care of you, and if he cant, he wont lie to you. That was good enough for me and they were absolutely right!!! He worked with our very difficult insurance, (Geico) and persevered to get our Exhaust leak fixed. When I didnt have a ride there or back he provided one. This service center is in a smaller building, but dont let that fool you, because they are Huge on service. I highly recommend Sunset Automotive to all my neighbors and friends now...Superb and Professional Workmanship!!!!!

Excellent! My neighbor Joyce and Alex use them also! One word says it all,,,Excellent! Fast, courteous, and very affordable. Hector and his crew has been servicing my cars since Sunset opened and never was there a problem! I have never written a Google review but felt that credit needed to be given to this fine shop of guys. If you live in the area I would not hesitate to take your auto to this shop. If you have been wondering about that funny noise your car has been making do not be afraid to run it by the guys at Sunset. I was in the shop recently for an estimate and I will be scheduling a repair time next week. THE BEST! Hector and his team at Sunset are the only mechanic shop that I would think of using. We use them for servicing all of our business vehicles (5 trucks, 3 cars) and for our personal vehicles as well. Services they have perfomed for us range from the major stuff (total engine rebuild, electrical system diagnostic and repair, and fuel system problems) all the way to the basics (oil changes, headlight replacement and new windshield wipers). They are the hard to find "honest mechanic" that will only bill you for the work they actually performed, and they dont try to sell you a bunch of parts and services that you dont actually need. Highly recommended for all of your automotive maintenance needs.

Found this mechanic shop when looking for mechanics in the lake bluff area. All the reviews were great and they were all spot on. Sunset automotive provides reliable and affordable repair work and the service is always spot on. Hector is amazing and always provides you with sound advice on what to do as far as repairs are concerned and what can wait. If you live around the area you can even get dropped off and then picked up when repairs are complete, now that is true service. Looking for a mechanic for all your repairs needs without a concern of paying for unnecessary then look no further, sunset automotive is definitely the place I go for all my repairs needs.

I needed to have my water pump changed recently. I found Sunset Automotive on here and saw all the good reviews. Everyone was right. The cost of repair was much lower than I thought it would be. I like that they didnt mind at all when I brought in my own parts. They didnt try to up-sell me on anything. The staff was as courteous as could be. I live in nearby apartments and didnt have a way back home or to pick up my vehicle when it was ready. They offered to drive me back home and then pick me up. That was service I didnt expect. I absolutely recommend this place.

Everyone needs a doctor, lawyer and accountant...well Hector and Jose are your guys for auto work. I have been taking my GMC to Hector for 6 years and am convinced it is still purring at 155,000 miles due to there maintenance over the years. My wife even takes her Land Rover to them instead of the expensive dealer. They are honest, straightforward and extremely helpful. Always giving you options to save some $s if you want. I loved my experience with Hectors shop. Great staff helped me right a way and were able to take my car and do a brake line job on my 1999 Honda Accord the very same day, even tho it was Saturday past noon. They first inspected my car and showed me the problem and ways to solve it. Than gave me great price for it and even had me borrow their courtesy vehicle so that my other important things dont wait while my car is the shop. Amazing service! Would recommend to anyone! In fact i just did to my friend and he is satisfied as well!
