Warning! At one time CarX use to be an outstanding place to take your truck or car. But not anymore. In the past I have taken my Villager Van, Honda Accord, Honda CRV. I have given my Business since they arrived in Normal Illinois 1999. But here is the problem (the scuttle butt), the current management of these stores are terrible, Turnover of some of their top mechanics have increased in the last fours to five year. They lost some of their best mechanics on motors, air conditioning, and brakes work to other local shops. Currently their service is terrible, they now charge for just looking at something (which in past was free). In three words “Their Service Sucks”. Big time. For local service consider these other repair centers Pro Tire & Automotive Service (excellent for brakes, alignments, tires) A1 Service Blains Farm & Fleet‎ (simple things flats etc.) Good luck and drive safe…..

I actually came here twice. The first time we had come in to have them flush the radiator and put in antifreeze. They instead put a lb of freon into the AC. Once we learned of the error we had to wait forever to have the radiator flushed. The second time we had the car looked over and They said that the car needed to have the tie rods done and to have the fuel system cleaned. They also needed to put a dye into the gas tank to see where I was losing the gas mileage. When all was said and done we paid them. Then they informed us they did not do an allignment after the tie rod repair, and they ran out of dye and we would have to come back to have them put it in. 3 trips back later and they still do not have the equipment set up to do the allignment (brought the car in 3 weeks ago) and did not have the dye. And the car is driving worse than before.

Ive been taking all of my cars as well as my mothers car to Car-X for about 15 years now, my partner does as well. Theyre trustworthy and have never tried to sell me anything I didnt actually need, nor have they ever treated me as though Im ignorant because Im a woman - unlike every other mechanic Ive used. The Car-X in Normal on Towanda Ave has always provided exceptional, quality work at reasonable prices. They go above and beyond to make sure that I leave satisfied, whether its an oil change , detail or $1,400 computer component....I know Im receiving the best service at reasonable prices. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAR-X to anyone who has work needed done on their vehicles.

With two vehicles (97 Camry and a 01 Town and Country Minivan) needing a lot of work in the past 6 months, my wife and I have come to really enjoy the service and quality of workmanship that this shop shows. The mechanics seem genuinely interested, and have never steered us wrong. Always felt we were getting a straightforward diagnostic review, and was presented all the options on how to proceed. Turn around time was always reasonable. I see that there have been unsatisfied patrons, but have not found their comments consistent with what Ive seen.

Car-Xs mechanic told me my car had a transmission leak. They estimated about a thousand dollars to fix it. I took the car to a difference mechanic and there wasnt any transmission leak. The mechanic showed me. The liquid is black. Transmission fluid is read. In 2014, the engineer leaked oil. I took the car to Chevy dealership at Veterans and they fix since it was under warranty. However, they did not clean the oil. There are two possibilities: 1) the mechanic is not properly trained to diagnostic or 2) mechanic was dishonest.

I went to this place for interior car detailing and received the worst service ever. They didnt my car, I can see dust, hairs in all the corners. They didnt clean rear view mirror, rear cup holders. I dont have a dog but now my car has white dog hairs all over the place. This is the first time I went to this place and I would never recommend this place to anyone. It is a total wastage of money. I am going to visit them tomorrow and see if they offer me to clean the dog hairs and other stuff.

I got an oil change and the guys suggested I get a flush done for $20 extra, since I hadnt had an oil change for 7,000 miles. Well, Ive noticed a considerable difference in the performance of my engine from that flush&oil change (as opposed to just an oil change) and I appreciated also receiving a summary of my upcoming maintenance jobs, according to mileage, and a coupon for my next visit (which will likely be for an automatic transmission service for the 100,000 mile marker)

I gave them my car for detailing and when I picked it up it still had dirt and trash beneath the seats suggesting me that it wasnt even vacuumed properly. The seats and carpet were not cleaned though they smelled better. Only dashboard was clean. Overall the service was bad and I would not recommend this place to anyone. I checked with manager about service and he sounded like if he doesnt care much once he gets paid. It was a rip off.

They did perfect in every way as they should. I was met by the service manager which greeted me and asked me what i needed and said no problem and thats what it was no problem. They were done in record time and did a full check of the systems and was spot on!! I plan to return each time my truck and car needs a oil change or serviced for any reason. Thank You Car-X

I will never come back here; even with my student discount they charged me $150 (initially was 170/hr) for labor to fix a simple coolant line. The dealership has better rates then Car X of Normal. My car was not functional, so they knew I had no other options and gave me that exorbitant rate . Cooks Auto Body in Normal is a lot better.

I love these guys! They take great care of my car and always take time to explain what needs to be done and why without being condescending about it or trying to take advantage of my lack of car savvy. The prices are great, and they will do little extras, like check my tire pressure, if I stop by on my way to work. Thank you!!

Staff tries to unnecessarily upsell many services. Tried to tell me my wifes car needed a transmission flush ($160) immediately, however the fluid was bright red and not low, and mileage did not call for a change interval. This is a deceptive practice, there are many shops in town to work with, i would recommend anyone else.

Seth here talked extremely rude to me when I was trying to get a quote on service. Dont know how you expect to win my business if the first time I have contacted you and you leave me with a bad tatse in my mouth. There are much better shops in Bloomington Normal to take your vehicle to. Would give 0 stars if possible.

We always appreciate the friendly service, the fact that we dont feel pressured but informed about things our car(s) might need, and there are never "hidden costs". In fact, often there is a coupon I can use for a bit of a discount, or some sort of a special going on just when we need to get our oil changed!
