I would not recommend this place. I did not have a good experience during my last visit. There was a problem with my AC. I told them to look at it. They told me that there was a leak in the compressor and the freon gas seems to be leaking. When I asked them, how big is the leak? They were not able to give me a convincing answer. They started explaining me irrelevant things. Anyway, they told me that the whole compressor needs to be replaced. Again, I was not convinced. It appeared that they simply wanted to replace the compressor without actually addressing the real problem with it. When they replaced my compressor and gave me my car back, I saw that the engine light was on. I immediately told them to look at it. The guy came and he told me that EVAP cooler relay/sensor seems to be malfunctioning. Again, the technician told me that, since we replaced compressor, the sensor is simply acting crazy and there is nothing to worry about. He did something with his machine and made the engine light disappear. Fast forward, next day, I see the engine light on again. I take my car back to them; they look at the problem and tell me that the relay has gone bad and it has to be replaced and I would have to pay the cost. I told them that before giving my car to you, there was no engine light on. After you guys fixed my ac compressor, the light popped up. How come it is my fault? Why should I pay for the relay? Clearly, while fixing the AC compressor, one of your technicians goofed up and the relay went kaput and finally, I ended up paying for the new relay. Overall, a very frustrating experience. The staff lacks professionalism and it appears very clearly that they want to rip you off and once they rip you off, their attitude will change and if you go to them with a problem, they will not entertain you properly. I am not going to Midas again.

Do not ever go there! They provide low quality service and parts to generate business, and they rip you off! I have filed complaints of the this repair shop in palatine to BBB and Illinois Attorney Generals office! On 1/5/2012, I did a power steering system repair and rack and pinion replacement and paid $973. Only a few days later, the power steering system was leaking again and I had to send the car back for repair. On 1/20/212, an invoice of $538 was charged and paid by Midas shop. A year later, The same power steering system went bad and the replaced rack and pinion were broken, I had to pay for more than $710 for the power steering system and rack and pinion repair. The shop also estimated replacement of front wheel bearings at $928 while a firestone gave me estimate of $502, what a rip off!. Then about a year later, the power steering pump went very noisy, I had to sen the car back again, I was told only power steering fluid was needed. After another year, my power steering system was seriously leaking again, and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced again! And they told me my repair was out of warranty already and I had to pay both parts and labor!! So, for the same mechanical problem and parts, I had to go to the shop 4 times within 4 years!! It was not me only, I heard customer complaining about a similar repeated repair issue in the shop while waiting. My experience led me to believe this shop not only gave very high estimate of cost, but also provide low quality service and parts to generate business because you have to go back again. Do not ever go there!

Been coming to this location now for some time for everything from simple oil changes to more complex vehicle repairs. The staff here is always polite and professional and they are quick to get vehicles in and back on the road safely. Whenever I bring my car in for service, they always bring me back into the service area while my car is still on the lift so they can show me what exactly is wrong and everything is explained to me in plain English. Im always presented with a full quote for repairs from which they explain to me what needs to be done priority to what can wait till later on. (In case youre wondering, I have high mileage vehicles, both over 100,000 miles which require more maintenance than typical low mileage vehicles. Not all of us can afford new(er) vehicles. One vehicle they kept running up until 183,000 miles.) The Assistant Service Manager Don has always been understanding to my financial situation and really does work with me to help me get repairs done. I typically only work with Don because he understands my vehicles and my financial situation. He has always been up front and honest about everything. I have received quotes from him before and have spoken to my brother who is a mechanic (he is to far away from me to take my vehicles to) and my brother has always agreed with what he says and and the prices quoted. In some cases my brother has told me to some quotes "Thats a damn good price theyre giving you". I have been a loyal customer for some years now and will continue to only go to this location for anything my vehicles need.

I REGRET GOING HERE - BROKE MY CAR DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. REFUSED TO ADMIT MISTAKE AND FIX IT!!!!!! WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I took my car to Midas yesterday for an oil change and tire rotation. During the rotation, Midas BROKE THE STUD ON MY WHEEL and REFUSED TO ADMIT IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE. Instead of apoligizing for breaking the stud on the rear wheel of my car, the manager Fernando, started to blame me saying that it was my mistake the stud and nut were too tight, the hub cap was not fixed right etc. They then said that i should have maintained the stud by pouring grease on it during my previous tire rotations. Now, here is the thing - I have been a regular Midas customer and only Midas has been doing my oil changes (+ supposedly tire rotations too, which I believe they never did but they lied to me that they did). So it is still Midas fault. No matter what, it is not acceptable that Midas broke the stud on my car. I spoke with my friends about this incident and several of them reported problems at this location. We have decided to take it to the Chicago Tribunes consumer redressal column through a common friend who works for the paper. All I know is that it is very disappointing and that Midas should replace what it broke. If this does not happen, I have no other way but to get to the papers and all internet forums about how I was not treated fairly by Midas on Dundee in Palatine, and its manager Fernando. This center has made me lose trust in the Midas customer first policy.

Dont go here. I am new to the area and received a coupon to have a "17-Point" service job done including an oil change so I thought I would give it a try. The service was supposed to include, among other things, cleaning of the front and rear windshields and vacuuming of the floorboards. Neither of these things were done which was obvious as soon as I picked up my car. Oddly enough, on the service sheet, it was marked that the mechanic had done these, which makes me wonder what exactly it was they did do. But really I didnt mind as I was happy with paying $20 for an oil change. However, now a week later, I happened to look at where my car was sitting and noticed that is has been leaking fresh oil. I looked under the car and noticed that the oil was dripping from the bottom of the oil filter. Considering the only person who has touched the oil filter since last Saturday was the Midas mechanic, I have to suspect he installed it incorrectly. I regret going here and spending my money. In retrospect, it seems that I paid them to only create a problem that did not exist before, and now Im having to pay more money again to someone else to fix the problem. If they cant even pull off doing a routine oil change, that should say something about the entire facility. Im reaching out to Midas customer service to seek a reimbursement. Considering I paid money expecting to have all these services performed and at least some were not, not to mention the problem that was created, I expect to be made whole.
