Well they may have just lost a potential customer. I backed into a telephone pole by not checking my blind spot in my boss car. So to say the least I am frustrated besides doing damage to their car it hurts my safe driving record. I have a new car (2016) with a rear video so unfortunately I rely on it too much so when I drive the older 2010 I forgot to check. Once I hit the pole at less than 5 miles an he I was stuck on it so had to pull forward and turn a bit to get off of it...Further damaging the front passenger door and door handle. I just wanted to get a rough estimate of the cost of replacing the door so my boss could decide if they wanted to go through their auto insurance or dock my pay checks. At first he said without seeing the damage he couldnt give me any ballpark estimate. Then I said, really not for a replacement door? Then he said he was closing soon (10 Minutes) I said cant you just look up the part for that yr model? He said he needed a VIN #...Which unfortunately I didnt have from my boss and they were @ a wedding so I couldnt call/text them for it. Then I asked him to explain the replacement process and he kept getting too technical and quoting around $1,800! Not answering my questions in layman terms so I could understand and relay info to my boss. I left very frustrated. I wanted to give my boss 3 estimates which is usually the customary thing to do. I drove straight to BeeZee Auto Body down the street (which Ive used years ago for some of my other owned or leased business vehicles) and without hesitation he was super nice and gave me a ball park figure and different scenarios of costing only $500 (price of my boss deductible) and up if it the car door needed more work. Now I can relax a little over the weekend and not freak out the repairs will definitely cost me my next 3 paychecks! Definitely encouraging my boss to get the repairs at BeeZee Auto Body :)

I brought in my car in to have a tire plugged. They patched the tire just fine. But afterwards the service writer crashed my car into another car in their lot. Scrapped the side of it all along another customers car. When I inspected the damage I was told it would rub out. Ha Ha, the guy broke all the bumper clips, removed a good amount of paint and damaged the plastic trim on the wheel well. After rubbing the area excessively he finally conceded and said they would repaint the bumper and that he would let me leave it and walk to work. I was never offered a courtesy car any sort of ride. At no point did anyone ever even apologize. They acted like my asking to have them fix the damage they inflicted on my poor car was quite an inconvenience. I came back to pick up the car that evening and found they had painted the bumper, but they didnt fix any of the damaged clips or plastics. When I pointed out how far from fixed the car was, they were very reluctant to offer to fix it correctly. Not to mention they still had the gall to insist I paid them for the patched tire before I left. Ha Ha, the nerve. I still dont have a car, were on day two of this mess. All I want is for them to put the car back to the state it was in before they crashed it. I cant explain how disappointed I am. Its very true that when things dont go as planned a person, or companies true character show through. I am saddened at what I have seen from this place. Ill update this post and let you all know how this saga ends. But I am sure I will never give this place my business again and will warn all who will listen about the character of this place and its employees.

I was customer of McCormick Auto Care for nearly 10 years and spent literally thousands of dollars on repairs, so nothing in my review is fabricated. The rubicon for me occurred when I received what I suspected, and later confirmed, as an exorbitant price quote for a repair that another mechanic did for less than half of McCormicks quoted price. After I decided to leave this shop for good, I reviewed my previous invoices (yes I kept them all) and noticed that this shop never indicates the actual number of labor hours on the final invoice, nor do they display their labor rate per hour. I also noted that they charged me for a part that I bought and provided. For that particular project, all I wanted them do do was install the part. Ultimately, that oversight is my fault, as I should have paid more attention. Nevertheless, the charge for that part should NOT have been included in the final bill. If you are a current customer of McCormick Auto Care, I strongly advise you to carefully review your invoice before paying. Another instance of shoddy repairs occurred when I had McCormick Auto Care do a radiator flush. About two weeks later, my radiator overheated and I eventually needed to have a new radiator installed. Prior to that flush, the radiator never gave me any problems. And one more thing: that Chicago Magazine top ranking this shop brags about occurred in 2007.

Beware! Brought in a car with broken wiper arm that Id recently had repaired-improperly, hence the second break-at another shop. The first shop had not aligned the blades correctly, so they swung too far to the left and popped over the antenna mounting, which is how they broke the second time. I left my car at McCormick auto and told them exactly what had happened. They ignored the explanation of the break and said theyd look it over. I told Larry that I had to get back to Lake Geneva WI, so hed have to call me and let me know the deal. The next day, he told me that the part the other shop had replaced for $25.00 couldnt be ordered by itself and that hed need to get a whole assembly for $370 that would take 3 days to get. An internet search proved that this was a lie, so I told him that, since it wasnt raining, Id just come get the car. He told me it was raining there, thinking I was in Wisconsin and didnt know better. However, I was, in fact, 3 miles away from him in Evanston at my girlfriends apt, and it hadnt rained a drop all day. Clearly, they try to get you to do unnecessary repairs and extort you by trying to keep your car there when you refuse. Ive since ordered the part, replaced it myself, and they work fine. Dont get ripped off here.

I have been doing business with Jeff and McCormick Auto for over 25 years. Many mechanics can be smart, but not all have the integrity to find the most economically wise solution for a customer, something with which Jeff excels. ("Economically wise" does not necessarily mean "cheapest" or "least expensive.") We have used this firm for both body and mechanical repair, with excellent results, and we are delighted to be able to recommend their work to any who might need their services. Jeff is so good, that some years ago when I was out of town he was able to diagnose from 200 miles away a serious brake problem that a local shop of a national repair chain was unable to diagnose after my brakes had failed. We have never been disappointed and it is our pleasure to recommend such a deserving business. (BTW, the windshield wiper incident described in another post below seems out of character to me and suggests that there is more to the story than what appears in the post.)
