My complete honest review was removed by I believe Star Auto as this is what Google said when I asked why my review did not show up: “You should know, however, that Star Auto Authority is an owner verified listing and some updates require the approval of the business owner before they can take effect.” I will make a long story short; the one star is for the lounge. I arrived an inquired about estimates and was told $116.92 each to evaluate an Anti-lock light and a P0300 code I got with my Actron CP9145. I asked if the $116.92 goes towards the repair and was told “yes” as I called the Buick dealership in Libertyville and they said the same thing while I was at Star Auto. The anti-lock brake was from a bad wheel bearing which I said not to fix because its under warranty from AutoZone when my friend and I did the work on it. After waiting forever I was approached by the Manager and was told it was a bad ignition coil and wanted my permission to install a new one. I agreed even though they were charging me over $90 for a part that I could have gotten at Autozone for $27 but I had no choice as the car could be damaged by the 2 misfiring cylinders. The Manager(?) came back and said he had good news and bad, the good is the car is working great the bad was the Ignition control module was bad and he replaced it without my permission. He was nice enough to cut the price in half as I had my documentation that showed I could have gotten a lifetime warranty on the same part at Autozone for 1/2 the price they were charging me. As I got to the counter to pay I found the bill to be over $900 and when I questioned it I found that they replaced the 3 perfectly good ignition coils for over $329 plus labor! There was nothing wrong with them, when I questioned him he said it was “preventative maintenance”, at that point I said I did NOT authorize “preventative maintenance on the car”. I was so mad I decided to leave and write the owner who sent me a check for a whopping $200! Its funny how Google allows the company to delete any reviews, you wonder why they are all 5 stars. That is your reason why, take your car elsewhere!

Since C&M opened in Vernon Hills I have taken my cars there. First time there I saw that they were different and definately were ahead of any other auto service I have been to. First, everything was CLEAN. From the customer lounge all the way to the shop area. I found out out that they have loaner cars or a shuttle service to take you anywhere you need to go. The staff was professional and attentive to my needs. Then there was the service. My cars were done right the first time by first rate technicians. When I got my cars back each time they are clean! They wash every car after it is serviced. I have had tune-ups done, major work like transmission, batteries and tires to something as simple as an oil change. ONE stop for all my needs! My repairs are also backed by a 36,000 mile or one year warranty. Plus everything is kept track by their computer system. No longer do I have to guess at what services have been done because I have taken it to four different shops. I have a 1992 Buick Park Avenue with 93,000 miles and a Plymouth Grand Voyager with 160,000 miles, both run like brand new vehicles and look new because I have them detailed at C&M as well. I have always taken good care of my cars, C&M just makes it easier for me to do that with by the way they do business, Honesty, Integrity and Knowledge of all vehicles.

Ive been a customer of Star Auto Authority for a few years now and have received nothing but the best customer service experience. In my most recent experience, recently on my way to work, one of my windows of my Kia got stuck and wouldnt go back up (it was a cold morning) and since I was passing by Star Auto and was in need of an oil change, I took it to them to have them get it checked out. Even without an appointment, they were really helpful in trying to accommodate me and when I asked about the window, they took the initiative to look up to see if my vehicle would still be covered under the manufacturers warranty because my car is still relatively new. It turns out that it was still covered. At that point, they actually took my car to the dealership themselves, offered me a rental car during the period for which it was getting fixed, AND retrieved the car from the dealership for me to pick up at the Star Auto facility. All I ended up paying for was the oil and air filter change that I requested from them. I was blown away by this great experience and wanted to give a specific shout out to Harris, the Star Auto representative who assisted me during this whole process. Theres no better place to take your car to in the Chicago suburbs.

I have been here on two occasions. The first time, I had my 2009 Elantra inspected. The technicians were very helpful. I was not prepared to undertake all of the recommended repairs, so I received a print-out of recommended repairs as well as estimates. The technician walked through each one, and told me how he would prioritize the work. On the second visit, it was only to balance and mount a single tire (which I had brought in). Literally just put a tire on the rim for me. I was told it would take 25 minutes, so I scheduled an appointment right before work. 40 minutes in, I was told it would be another 5 minutes (only after I went and asked about my car). 20 minutes after that, my car was finished (only after I went again and asked about my car). So, it actually took 60 minutes, making me 45 minutes late to work. It wasnt the end of the world, but it wasnt great for the first thing in the morning. All in all, I appreciate the thoroughness and quality of the work, but I wish they would have been more up-front with me about the timing of when my car actually would have been ready. I would recommend this place to others. Also, if you write a review on here, you get $15 off your next visit, so you cant beat that.

This place is the best Ive ever found. Their work is top notch, their prices are competitive and lower than a dealer, they provide free (and clean) loaner vehicles, and they do competent work on any vehicle you throw at them. Theyve serviced our 2005 Hyundai Sonata, 2006 Honda Pilot, and even our 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 1-ton dually diesel truck. They dont recommend work that isnt needed for your use of your vehicle (but they will give you a heads up for things that are optional), and their communication is cutting edge and top-notch (email, phone, online history). They are professional in every way. On top of all this, today they helped me sell my truck. They did a complementary second opinion of a prior inspection done at another mechanic (by a prospective buyer), gave me a loaner for the morning, and they left the truck up on the rack for my buyer to take a look at the whole undercarriage. The mechanic fielded questions from the buyer while we were all there. They did this all while making me feel like an important customer and not at all a bother for all of the free work they were doing. This is how they treat their long-time customers, and their new ones, too.
