ADDENDUM 1/20/2014: We took Dan up on his kind and sincere offer and came in to have our oil changed. He got us in and out in what might have been the fastest oil change Ive ever had. He then came out to personally apologize in person to both me and, more importantly, my wife for her experience. His character and honesty is a testament to customer service which is, unfortunately in most businesses, all but lost. This Car-X location is lucky to have him we plan to give them another chance. Therefore I have revised my review to 5 stars! ADDENDUM 1/17/2014: Dan the manager just called to authentically and repeatedly apologize to me, invite me to give them one more chance and said that they would take care of the cost of our next full-synthetic oil change. He personally guaranteed that we would be taken care of straight away even if it means he has to do the work himself. Adjustment from 1 star to 3 stars; will amend this review after I take him up on the offer. ORIGINAL 1/16/2014: I have had multiple experiences at this location and they are almost always very curteous on the phone. For the most part, they offer a great price for a quality synthetic oil change. The repeatative problem is as follows: I have been told repeatedly that, with an appointment, we will get in right away. Every time my wife shows up on her break for the appointment I book, she is not seen for at least 30 minutes. This has happened twice before making my last appointment when I was, again, reassured it would not happen this time. Well, 30 minutes after arriving on time and after others who just pulled in were taken into the garage, my wife finally gave up, told one of the gentlemen there who said they were just about to pull her car in, and had to leave. This is 3 times this has happened, each time being promised it wont happen. Its unreasonable to tell customers you will be seen for an oil change within minutes of arriving of your appointment but then have to wait 30 minutes or more, especially when you inform the location that time is important and we will have to make other arrangements otherwise. If you have an hour or so and dont mind being taken 30 minutes after your scheduled appointment, this is the place. If, on the other hand, you value your time and expect those you are paying to honor their appointment times, avoid this location.

I went to this place this afternoon to get a quote on a new exhaust system that I knew should cost between 200-300 dollars. The manager seemed really friendly and helpful on the phone, so I decided to bring my car there to get a quote. After 45 mins of waiting while the technician tried to figure out how to overcharge me as much as possible, he trotted out a qoute at $450. When I told him that this was about 50% more than I was expecting to spend, he said hed talk to the "friendly" manager I had talked to on the phone. After another 10 mins of waiting, he informed me that he could take a whopping $25 off the total. That covered the arbitrary $25 "shop fee" on the quote. Adding insult to injury, he had the nerve to tell me that I should probably repace the Flex pipe as well. Even worse, I found out the technician had left my car running on the jack for the entirety of this process, burning gas for no reason. I must have "STUPID" written on my forehead and not know it because this guy had the nerve to act as though he was doing me a favor. After leaving in disgust I went down the street to Midas where Dave, the manager, laughed at the absurd quote I had received from Car-x and in 15 minutes quoted me at $275 out the door. Within an hour I had a new muffler and $175 richer than I would have been at Car X. I also decided to check out NAPA (not known for being super cheap) down the street to see what the parts would cost on their own and it was over $100 less than the prices at Car X. These people will try to rip you off, and smile at you while they twist the knife.

If I can give this store negative stars I would. I have lived in the area for 30 years and have used Midas Merlins (now Rt 64) and CarX. went to CarX about 5+ years ago after issues with the other 3. They were ok but it always seemed as though something next to repaired item would break, or make more repairs"by accident" when doing a repair. Usually did not cost me, but I became more suspicious of them in the last 3 years. Found out they have had numerous managers for this shop over this same time frame. My Mazda went thru 9 sets of rear wheel bearings they blamed the factory wheels. Now my college son has a Ford Ranger he drives to school 6 hrs, we had them do brakes and drive shaft work, and he had a premature failure of the shaft which could have been devastating if it failed and caused a serious accident, . We found that the so called mechanic likes to use hammers and beat the heck out of the shaft causing the u-joints to not sit right and caused to fail. YES it has been past the 1 yr. warranty, AND I was not looking for relief from them, I just contacted them to notify them of the quality of work this shop does, reply from district manager...."what do you want me to do? he should have noticed it sooner. They always perform work to the highest standards" etc.etc. I was told. Whose standards? Definitely not the customers. He did not ask or offer anything not even an apology for which I was looking for. I found a truly trustworthy mechanic now and he has gone above and beyond what he should have. Stay away and go else where

Had an amazing experience there! First things first I went to advanced auto parts and purchased front and rear brakes and rotors for 250 dollars. I then went home and started trying to change my brakes on my own. I ran into an issue, I couldn not get my lug nuts off. They were over torqued and I even broke my wrench extension trying to get them off (lol). Frustrated, cold and tired, I went to a shop to see if they can take off my lug nuts with their air tools and hand tighten them. First shop told me they didnt have time bc they were closing soon, although they closed at 730. I was there at 430. I then came across CarX! I went in and asked if they could take off my lug nuts, Robert the service tech told me they are not allowed to do that bc they have torque specs they have to follow. I respected his honesty and was ready to leave. But then he stopped me and asked if I wanted to bring in my car for an inspection so he could check if I even need brakes. I brought it over and he then explained to me that it my rear are drums and that I bought the wrong parts. He then worked out an amazing deal for me!! I was iffy but I ran the numbers and it was definitely the best deal I could get!!! I really appreciate everything they did for me there and they did it fast! Btw I went in at 515 and they close at 6, they did not try to rush me out the door they took their time explaining everything and finished the car in a timely manner!!
