Customer service was AWFUL. I booked an appointment online to have my rear driver side tire looked at since it was leaking. Dropped it off during my lunchbreak. Upon arrival the person who forgot to greet me as I walked in asked me if I meant to bring my car to _____ auto place. I said no, I booked my appointment with Midas, received a confirmation email from Midas and specified my make, year and model when booking so my car should have been expected. He said ok and asked about my problem. I told him about my tire to which he asked for my keys. I asked if he needed any contact info for when the car was ready? He said "I got your number". Over an hour went by and he hadnt called to tell me the status of my car, so I called. He said, "you drive a what? Ok, we cant seem to find the problem I think". I told him to figure it out and call me back as soon as possible since I was on my lunchbreak. He called back 15 minutes later to tell me that I needed a new rim and tire! I decided to opt for a second opinion since I dont trust them based on how Ive already been treated. I bring my car to a Discount Tire where they find a screw in my tire. I did NOT need a new tire. I did NOT need a new rim. They didnt even look at the tire I told them to check when I brought it to Midas. Less than 5 minutes at a competitor and they could find a screw based on the way I was parked. Midas quoted me over $200 (to fix a tire that is FINE) while Discount Tire had my problem fixed for $52.00. Do not bring your car to Midas. They wont listen to you, they wont fix the initial problem you came in for, they have no concept for customer service, no concept of the time they wasted and they will overcharge you to fix a NON-PROBLEM. Save your money, go anywhere else.

The staff was very friendly and informative, which would normally cause me to rate them higher. However, I feel they were using their friendliness to rip me off. I was quoted a bit over $900 to replace a brake system (back drum brakes, front disk brakes, brake lines did not need replaced). I was skeptical and decided to check things out for myself. One handy father and husband, $172, and four hours later and I had new brakes. Now, if my father had not known what he was doing we would not have dared tried to replace such a critical system ourselves. However, my father has experience with this and for the most part everything went smoothly. It is beyond me why they were trying to charge $700 in (what I assume is) labor. While they did diagnose my problem for free, I now feel like they were trying to scam me into paying as much money as they could get out of me. Additionally, when at first I said I did not want the repair because a 12 year old car was simply not worth $1000 to fix and said we would be buying a new car instead, one of the mechanics offered to buy the car off of us. So I suppose he would have gotten off real cheap, paying little for the car and sprucing it up with $200 in parts. I will never trust this auto shop again.

I will never go back to Midas. I only went because Kroger gave me a coupon on an oil change. Yet with the coupon, the price of my oil change was just as much as anywhere else. The customer service was horrible. Ive never had a worse customer service experience, anywhere. They did an inspection and I was told my brakes were shot and I had been playing with my life by driving. When I asked how much it would cost to fix my brakes, I was told they couldnt tell me without an inspection. They had just done the inspection & they had my tires off because they were rotating them so I dont understand how they couldnt ballpark how much it would cost me. Then the employee there said I should expect to pay a lot because it was all useless. I complained to the manager who did not apologize for her behavior but rather explained that she had just been yelled at by the General Manager and was having a bad day. Well I was having a stupendous day until I dealt with the lady behind the desk. Personally, customer service will determine if I go back to an establishment and I will never go back there. I was forced to give a 1-star rating but I dont even think they earned that.

They tried to deceive me into paying them thousands of dollars for a problem which was later fixed for ~$500 somewhere else. I will just write down what happened and you can judge it yourself. One day, my car just died in the middle of the road and wouldn’t start. So, I had to tow my car to a mechanic. I used to get my oil changes in Midas, I was familiar with them, so I took my car there. They told me that the timing belt was loose which might have damaged the engine. They gave me a quote of $1700 only for the inspection assuming that there is no damage in the engine. If there is damage, I would need to replace the engine (that’s an additional $2500). The value of the car itself is $3500. One of the guys working there even offered $100 to buy the car if I decided to scrap it. I went home, googled the model of the engine and it turned out that my car had a non-interference engine which meant no engine damage by design. Next day, I towed my car to a different mechanic and they fixed the problem for ~$540.

Update: Midas called today and I appreciate their following up on the issue. It shows that they are conscious of the reviews and take customer service seriously. They did explain to me that it is their policy of not resetting the code. I appreciate them explaining to me the reason behind the issue. I am satisfied by their explanation and happy that customer service and satisfaction is important to them. I was there for a check engine light scan. I got the scan but the technician bluntly refused resetting it saying that they cannot do so without fixing it. After coming back, I found out that the error code was for a very small evap leak and is easily caused by a loose gas cap. I also found out that no where else does a technician deny resetting the check engine light for such a common issue. Probably my first and last visit to this Midas Bloomington Center

Not that I think it should be an issue, but since most of the complaints I see in reviews are against the receptionist, Ill talk about her first. I was helped in the office by both a woman receptionist and a male technician. Both seemed helpful and I didnt notice any strange behavior from the lady. The man was very friendly. He discussed my options with me and advised me about what I should do with my awful old muffler, but didnt pressure me and left the choice up to me. It almost felt like the way my father would help me if Id come to him with car trouble. I felt very cared for. The popped a new muffler on my 79 Impala and it ran so quietly that I didnt realize it was running when I started it up. My mother recommended them to me because shes been going there for years, and both of us will continue to do so.
