I took my 2013 Kia Optima to Mears in Brownsburg as it was having a starter issue and I was at my parents house. I got a call quoting a new starter (installed) at $610. That seemed way to high based on internet estimates ($250-$350). I called the Shadeland Kia Dealership and one other local shop and they would install it for $350-$390. I returned to confront them about the $250 price difference and they acted shocked someone beat their price. After I told them what the going rate was, they pressed some buttons and "magically" got my price down to $406 by "using a different brand". I understand that some parts costs more than others depending on the brand, but they were clearly money grabbing and had no intention of telling me I could save $200 by using a different brand (until I confronted them and asked for my keys back). Glad they didnt stand by their price gouge but I cant support a place that isnt up front with you from the beginning. I gave 2 stars rather than 1 because they did correctly diagnose the issue (despite price gouging) after taking it to another more trustworthy shop to confirm (they repaired it for under $400, first quote).

Quality Work and Extremely Honest The local Chevy dealership told me my 2008 Chevy Uplander had a cracked block and wanted $9000 to put a new engine in the van. I called several shops to see about options for a replacement engine and Mears, being local to me and having a fair price, got the nod. Much to my amazement and pleasure, Mears found my minivan didn’t actually need a new engine; it simply needed a new oil cooler, along with multiple coolant flushing. Needless to say I was very impressed. I’d already approved them putting another engine in the van and they could have done that, made a lot more money and I would have never been the wiser. Thanks to their honesty I saved thousands of dollars. They’ve made a customer for life. Thank you Mears!

I am a student and I needed to get to Indianapolis for an exam. My car would not start and I had AAA tow me to Mears, it was the closest place. They fit me in and they appreciated my haste and hurried themselves. The owner actually picked up on my anxiety and offered me the keys to the company truck so I could take my exam. I accepted his offer and was rushing down 74 when they called me back and told me my problem was fixed (faster than anticipated). When I got back, he didnt charge me anything because it was an easy fix and they didnt need any parts. I would say this is the best customer service Ive ever experienced, but I wasnt treated like a customer. I was treated like a friend. These guys are great and I would recommend them to anyone!

I was stressed to the max not knowing where to get my car fixed. Ive only lived in Brownsburg for two years. So, I had no clue who to trust. I took a leap of faith and it was well worth it. My original quote was slightly off from the final price. Well, Mears gave me a discount by not charging me for some of the extra work because of the original quote and the final price were about a $225 difference.They met me in the middle on the price. Also, I cant forget the lady who works at Mears gave me a ride home because I had no ride. I would take my car back to Mears if I ever need car work again. They did such an excellent job!

Outstanding service. I last minute requested an appointment and they accommodated me no problem despite their busy schedule. I had a leak in my transmission and addressed the issue and them some, all while keeping the price we agreed on. They rebooted my internal computer and now all my lights, locks, and radio works again! Totally unexpected. Much thanks, and I will definitely use their services in the future.

I LOVE these guys. They have taken care of a few issues with my car over the past few months, including some major repairs to the cooling system, and done fantastic work. Best customer service I have ever experienced with an auto mechanic. A good mechanic close by is a valuable asset, and I know whenever I leave Indy it will be tough to find mechanics as good as the ones at Mears to work on my vehicles.

These guys are the best. Hats off to Kevin & Bob and the whole team at Mears. I had them replace a motor for me and it failed after six months. With no questions they gave me a loner to use and began the work all at no cost to me and really no inconvenience at all. I do my own brakes, oil and such but take all my three cars there for anything major to the capable and knowledgeable staff at Mears.

Extremely honest, therefore trustworthy. Listened to everything I had to say about what was going on with my car, and didnt tell me things needed to be fixed when they didnt. Incredibly kind people working there, knowledgable, and straightforward. Prices are great for a place of this caliber. Will be taking any car here and recommending it to all!

Ive taken several vehicles to them, they have always been honest and upfront- even when they could have made more money on me. They once flushed a heater core when I didnt have heat, instead of replacing the heater core ($2000 + repair). They are the shop I trust. When I cant do it myself, it goes to Mears. AAA approved shop also!

Very good, honest shop that stands behind their work. I drive my car all over the country, and perform most of my own routine maintenance. If there is something I cant handle, I trust the work to Mears. They are one of those places that has a good word-of-mouth reputation in the community and only fix what needs fixing.

Thank god for mears automotive! Our car broke down on our way home to PA after 3 months travel from the west coast. Kevin took us in on a Saturday but didnt have access to parts with it being the weekend. He let us keep our car there over the weekend despite being covered up in business. Hats off to team Mears!

These guys do a solid job. My 06 Expedition died on the road and Howard got me into their shop and took care of me within the day. 99.9% of mechanics cannot accomplish this. Gave me a loaner to get around for the day and my mass air flow sensor was all wrapped up by 2:30p - dropped it off about 9:45a.

I didnt have much money or time, but my car quit on me. They took it in with no warning and replaced my distributor along with everything that goes with it and did in in time for me to get to work on time that same day! it was more than I expected. and my 17 year old car runs like new again.

Great Experience getting the rotten and leaking brake lines replaced on my Chevy Pick-up. All was done right on time and for the price agreed. I even added oil change and lube while they had it on the rack and they got it done no problem. It doesnt get any better than that in my book. JB
