Ive had a couple of people here be decent but I have also had very bad experiences. One lady was diwn right rude to me because I followed the directions on the kiosk that told me I had to come inside. She was super snotty because I wanted to make sure I was sending it the safest possible way because it was cookies and candy I had spent 2 full days baking for my soon in the military. She got rude when I questioned her because she said I had to send it through customs, finally after questioning her a few times, because it was going to Mississippi... she asked someone else there told her no, just normal shipping. Then she got rude because I didnt know what box was the right "medium" (there are 2 mediums both flat when in shelf). She yelled at me across the room like I was a moron for not knowing which medium she was talking about. When I told her I dont care what box it got mailed in, , I just want it the safest method, she grabbed my box and very aggressively taped it off then threw a label at me and said "you need to fill out THIS label. When she was done she told me "next time just ignore what the kiosk instructions say!" And THEN, knowing what was in the box, (Christmas cookies that were fragile) what it was for, and WHO it was for, she Literally THREW it across the room into the bottom of a bin! I use a lot of postage for my business and I have decided I will wait in line longer to avoid the older lady with short hair who was sooooo rude and unprofessional!

They may be limited by their lack of process efficiency driven by a government-run business, but goodness, there is no effort to go above and beyond for the customer either. Had a package delivered by UPS to be out for distribution the next day via USPS and was trying to intercept in time for a birthday. Requested to pick up at USPS instead today and there was refusal because essentially there were too many packages. It was too hard for them, even though they had a tracking number. Sounds like some organization and tracking methodology could go a long ways for improving their internal processes. Getting birthday stuff a day late is not a big deal for us adults, but makes a world of difference for a little kid. Never had specific issues with this location otherwise besides lack of speed...although, no US post office Ive been to has ever been FAST.

If you can avoid this particular post office so it..I was definitely not impressed..I had 3 packages that were very heavy, and asked them if they had a cart I could put them on so I didnt have to make 3 trips to my car. The customer service Rep looked at me like I was crazy and said No we dont have anything like that here ..I said are you kidding me..He replied ummm NO Im not ..I then said fine. I will do it myself..Now today u call them and ask for the tracking numbers for the packages and after 7 minutes on hold she comes back and says we dont have they information ..Once we close out for the day that information is no longer available..Unbelievable..Rediculous ..So now I will have no idea where my packages are till they are received. Ankeny Postal Service You Can do better then that..

Called this place 2 times & failed to resolve issue. Was told to find something the first time I called. I then called back & it was the complete reverse. Staff member was very rude despite me trying to find a way for her to pass the buck & search for another avenue. Complete & utter intrasigence & stubbornness. I would not recommend calling with any issues to this place. Other post offices and the 1-800 Customer Service line are much more helpful.

i dont rely on the post office anymore; the quality of people that work there have poor work ethic and unreliable drivers. i called to complain regarding receiving other peoples mail. how hard is it to read the number on the envelope. otherwise i dont even bother going to this location--->also does not carry anymore of the stop mail forms---everythings done online--you have to pay a 1.00 just to change your address...

Need to have mail postmarked and it was just past the cut off time. A postwoman was coming out to check the stamp machine. I asked about where I could go to get it done. I told her it was a deadline for my daughters scholarship. She helped me get the correct postage on them and took them back with her to make sure they made it...I was so grateful and she was so helpful. My hero for the day!

At least 3 times a month my mail is delivered to the wrong address. When I call to report it, I am given the run around. Prior to moving to Ankeny from another metro suburb, mail delivery was reliable. I can understand an occasional mis-delivery, but mail service is consistently inconsistent. There needs to be a higher level of accountability at this office.

One of the worst post offices Ive been to. Long waits, sent me to the back of the line because I hadnt filled out the address form, unfriendly staff. Unfortunately, the USPS has a monopoly on first class mail so until an act of congress we are stuck with this monster.

I went it to mail a prepaid returned phone and they said they wouldnt mail it unless I bought tape for 3.50 to close the package better. I will go to a different town where maybe the workers there are friendly instead of rude and not helpful

Its a crap shoot as to whether you get a worker who is friendly or irritated by life in general. I dont want to spend my time in the post office but when I do need to drop by at least an attempt at good customer service would be nice.

Expect to receive your mail at least a day or two longer then what is expected. Ive only ever had one package delivered on time. Never really had an issue with staff, but otherwise quite disappointed with overall service :(

I called over lunch to track a missing package, Debbie was so friendly and called the carrier and returned my call within 5 minutes. The first time Ive ever had a good experience with the post office. Pleasantly surprised!

Government agency so they probably dont care about reviews. But use ups or fedex before you let Ankeny usps touch your stuff. Guaranteed to lose your package/mail.

Long lines! Not enough workers. Left and went to the UPS store instead, received much better customer service. USPS you are out dated and not customer friendly.
