My brakes went competely out on my boyfriend at the start of a cold Janurary blizzard at the time of rush hour. He was stranded 20 miles away from home and was supposed to be at work soon. He called in to work, waited on a tow truck that to come to where he was at, and called around to local car repair shops to find out what was wrong with my car and when it could get fixed. He called several places and was very unhappy with the customer service he was recieving on the other end of the phone. He then called Car-X on NE 14th st in Des Moines IA and spoke with the Shop Manager, Brian Heatherly. Brian took the time to listen to the problem he was having, our current financial situation, and the need to have it fixed ASAP. Brian told him that he could have it in first thing in the morning and that he would get a hold of a financial company to have them review my credit to help me out in this time of need. By noon the next day I was driving home in my car; brakes were fixed, oil was changed, and the price was cheaper than what was quoted to me by all of the other repair shops. I highly recommend Car-X and would like to say thank you to Brian for his help and hospitality!

Not a good experience. I got charged over $400 just for 2 brake pads and after 5 months, I had to take my car somewhere else and they told me that whoever previously put brake pads on did a poor job and should have replaced the rotors with the brake pads. My car is shaking worse now than ever before. Terrible service here. They over-charge for their service and they do a poor job. I suspect they dont do a very good job because they want people to bring their car back since things are under warranty ONLY if you bring your car back to them, even though they did a poor job. I think if I bring them my $340 bill for brakes AND rotors from being fixed correctly at another business they should either pay my bill or refund my $400 for ONLY brake pads. DO NOT take your car here for any service repair. It will end up costing you big time.

Not to much that is worse than going to your car and finding 3 flat tires with one sitting on the rim at 5:30am in -5 degree weather. Luckily, Scott and his crew saved my day! Really great people. They took care of all 4 tires for a good price. Service was fast too. I am back home writing this in an hour. I felt like I was a person they were helping throughout the whole process, where most places I go I feel like I am a customer that is just getting some work done. BIG difference. Keep up the good work! I would recomend this CarX to my friends and family. Not sure what was going on with the review someone left 2 years ago, but I would ignore it.

I paid almost $800 to have brakes replaced. They only took 45 minutes and charged $120 in labor. Soon after, I continued to have problems and had to go to a dealer where I found out they break job done at Car-X was very poorly done and I had to pay over $1200 to fix their mistakes. The manager told me over the phone he would replace everything for free and refund some of my money I paid at the dealer. When I brought my vehicle back to Car-X for the warranty work, the manager said he was only going to do 1/3 of what he told me over the phone and wasnt going to give me any refund. I strongly advise to go somewhere else.

At Car X, they are very friendly people and trusting. I strongly recommend going to them with any issue you have with your vehicle. I went there to have a couple things done, and they found a few issues I didnt know about and got it fixed for me! The manager Josh done an outstanding job on being specific and explaining details, even helped me out with a crazy good discount. Ive never been happier with any other Auto Shop! Thank you Car X!(: I really appreciate all the time and hard work their putting into my car just to make sure Im driving safe. Ill definitely be returning here if I have anymore problems!

Every time Ive come, Ive had a good feeling when I left. Very honest and open, and have even invited me out to see for myself! Just had my car at another mechanic yesterday and the told me only one of my tie rods were bad. I came to Car X because that mechanic didnt have an alignment machine and found out Car X couldnt do the alignment because my other tie rod WAS bad! The manager, Josh, was wonderful and very helpful. I also love that they provide Netflix since I had my 3-yr-old son with me and he could watch cartoons while we waited for them to replace the tie rod. HIGHLY recommend these guys!

I have been using Car-X since a friend gave me a gift pass for a free oil change. I have never had to deal with upselling or being offered something I dont or could not need. Oil changes are quick, efficient and the plastic sticker helps me always keep track of mileage. I would be able to give this place a rating of 5 if I had been able to use my coupon for both oil change and tire rotation on the same day instead of making another trip, which made it less of a coupon. Management is friendly and I feel I am getting great service when I go.

Terrible oil change. They forgot to put the cap back on after the oil change. My engine almost caught on fire. After I came back and asked them to fix it. Instead of getting a steam cleaned engine and refund, I got a refill on my oil and a spray down of my engine. Not right. A $25 dollar gift card doesnt help with the fact that my car almost caught on fire. Who would want to come back and use that gift card?

After some frustrating moments and lots of back and forth with a guy at Car-X in Ankeny over being miss quoted. I got a call from Josh at the NE 14th st shop. He was great to work with, he not only took the time explain to me exactly what the problem was/miscommunication with Ankeny but was also able to find a solution to the problem. He ended up saving me over a grand.

Just had a wheel bearing pressed in at this car-x today and not only did they lose one of the pins for the emergency brake shoes but they also bent the backing plate so bad I cannot get my rotor on, I will be taking my car there Monday to make them fix it. Most incompetent mechanic Ive ever dealt with.

I have used Car-X for my cars for the past 8 years and I would never choose another company. Alex, at Car-X on North East 14th is THE BEST mechanic I know of. Hes always honest and fair, and the company has helped me numerous times when it was just too much for me to pay for. I LOVE THEM!!!

I was broadcasting at this location for Lazer 103.3 and needed an oil change... Matt took care of me and the service was FAST and FRIENDLY and PROFESSIONAL!!!! I will not take my car anywhere else. These guys got everything I needed to keep my car in the best shape! Thank you so much Car-X!
