I looked for a decent place to do a MD state inspection for my out of state 2014 car. Based on the reviews I called Dobbins. I called to make an appointment at 10am. I was told it may take 2-3 hours for completed the state inspection ($59). I arrived promptly at 10am and waited in their nice waiting room. The waiting room had coffee, water, tv and magazine. At 10:55am, the lady informed me that my car was complete. I was happy with the quick turnaround. The result: my car had failed inspection due to wiper blade. The lady informs me that if I want them to install the wiper blades that they have in stock it’ll be $30 per blade (which I thought was over-expensive), so I let her know that I’ll go to Walmart across the street and get them myself. Upon exiting, I asked which Wiper, she looked at the report and said the left one, driver’s side and let me know the size. I went to Walmart spent $10 on their high end wipers, installed and arrived back at Dobbins (20 mins later). I wait for the tech to re-check, he comes over, looks at the passenger side of the wipers and says I didn’t change it and walks away. I’m in shock and awe because the lady prior to leaving said it’s the driver side. Upon looking the paperwork, the left that was written meant from the front of the car. Long story short, 2 other tech came out at this point. Dobbins understood the misunderstanding on their part and didn’t want me to go back to Walmart to fix this issue, gave me one of their $30 wipers to fix the passenger side wiper blades. They installed it and I took the updated paperwork from them. I’m glad they fixed this issue because who has time for their mis-communication of the issue. Overall I’m happy the way the entire situation was handled. Pricey wiper blades! I did overhear them telling another customer what he needed for the car and how long he had before it was an immediate need. So they seemed honest.

I am so grateful I found an honest, trustworthy and generous shop. As I was several states away from home at a family wedding, I was told by another shop that my sons vehicle had terrible oil leaks and needed to be repaired ASAP! Dobbins was recommended to me, so I called and they told me to bring it in right away. After explaining the issues, left the vehicle and they immediately pulled the vehicle in the shop. I received a call within 20 minutes and was told the repair would be more than the vehicle was worth BUT with proper checks of the oil levels I would be able to get the vehicle home! The weekend was stressful enough without factoring in a broken vehicle! When I went to pick up the vehicle, the owner handed me the keys and told me he was not charging me his usual diagnostic fee, that it was a wedding gift! I cannot tell you how much that gesture meant to me! There really ARE good and honest people in this crazy world. So, in short, I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing a vehicle repair. I handed his cards out to the wedding party and have one in my wallet as I will be making many trips back to the area. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your fast and generous help to me!

These guys are crooks I took my car there because I was having engine problems, it took them three days to find out I need a new engine. Ok cool I told them dont worry about it I was going to scrap the car I will get a tow truck to pick it up. At the last minute I decided to move the car of there lot because it was still drivable just not far, only to find out I have no brakes, my brakes were fine when I brought it in now its hard to stop at a low speed. They thought I was going to junk the car so they were going to take some parts off and probably try to sell them to you at full price for some used brakes they stole off my car. I spoke with the owner about why is there some old rusty brakes on my car that dont work when I didnt bring the car to you in that condition it just had engine problems, and of course he denies everything saying "it doesnt make sense for them to do that" but it makes perfect sense to make a few extra dollars off a car that he thought was never going to be driven again. If I would have tried to drive that car home I would have been in a accident. Dont trust this place if they can get away with making a few extra dollars on your expense they would.

Great experience. I went in for routine maintenance and a general checkup prior to a long-distance trip. I received line-itemized quotes before work started, sat down for a detailed discussion about the items, and briefly went under the lift to see tread wear depth myself. Quoted work was done as requested, with no surprises on price. My time also felt valued. A delay getting my tires delivered from a local supplier set back the timetable, but Larry promptly informed me while I waited, freeing me (and my car) to go run some errands in the interim. DAR also detected a leak in one of the delivered tires, sending it back for a replacement. These delays were unfortunate, but Im pleased with how Larry clearly and quickly communicated them. The work still finished at-quote, and this just ended up costing them more lift time than would normally be needed to complete the work, so I dont see how this could be anything other than an honest upstream supplier issue -- one handled well by DAR. The waiting room was also clean, comfortable, and had complimentary wifi. Overall, conscientious work done at reasonable prices with polite service.

Went to have my car inspected for the MD Safety Inspection. They did the inspection and informed me of all the things i had to change which would run me over $1200. Front breaks $270, Rear Breaks and drums $350, Buff front headlight $60, Serpentine Belt $150, remove window tint $50, repair front bumper (secure it better) $50, Right front engine mount $190 and wipers, tag and brake light not estimated. Seems expensive to me. I bought everything i needed for the repairs for around $220 (except a front mount) and paid another mechanic to fix everything for $300. During repairs he found that a rear brake boot was not attached back in place and could have caused my breaks to fail. There is no reason for this to happen, either the did not attach it back or failed to tell me about it. This endangered me and the ones around me while driving and is unacceptable. I took my car to British American Auto Care, The front engine mount passed inspection and all that was still needed was a few more light bulbs needed replaced. I do not trust Dobbin Auto Repair and wound not suggest going there.

Ive been here twice; first time, good experience. Second time: I knew I only needed a nut and bolt to secure the shield to my manifold. But Toyota says they dont make the part anymore; instead Id have to get the strap the nut and bolt is attached to. AND to replace that strap, the gas tank has to come out. So replacing this nut and bolt would cost over $600, they said, plus the cost of the strap! This made me crazy. I took the car to Dobbin, Paul came back out in ten minutes and said he improvised something that should be fine. I was so happy. I said how much do I owe you? He said "nothing!" He had no business at the time and could have easily kept me waiting while I thought he was doing something more substantial and charged me much more. This is rare.
