Wow! Talk about terrible service!! I took my car there to have an inspection done and they told me I needed this and that and wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount of money to have them do it. My car was parked outside when I came to pick it up and when I asked them to show me what was wrong with it, they wanted to charge me more for it! I decided I would go and get new tires at Costco and the employee went and looked at my tires (which they said I had shift tread/visible bulges etc.) and he couldnt find anything wrong with them. I bet Thoroughbred Transmissions wrote these 5 star reviews themselves, because nobody in their right mind would rate them higher then a 2 star, just so their average wouldnt be so low. They are rude and arrogant! Very disappointed!

Consistent with all my experiences at Thoroughbred Transmissions and Auto Care, my latest car problems were addressed in a timely manner and thoroughly explained to me. I appreciate the fact that John always calls to let me know what the issues are before they proceed with the work. John and Stephen will both acknowledge work that that is immediately necessary vs. work that can be done down the road. During a recent car purchase I sought their advice on types of cars to look for and was especially pleased that they took into consideration safe cars for the areas I mainly drive as well as my personal vehicle preference. I highly recommend Thoroughbred--they stand behind their work and keep you safe!

I have been utilizing Steve Powell and thorobred transmissions as my go to transmission rebuilder with my race car, personal car and customers cars for over 25 years. I have NEVER had an issue with their work, work timeliness or pricing. Its rare to find a service provider that goes the extra mile to keep you informed while ensuring you know EXACTLY what failed. I could not recommend thorobred transmissions enough. In fact I live deep in southern Maryland and drive over 3 hours round trip !!!! Thats how much I trust them for transmission repairs.

We have used Thoroughbred Transmissions for all of our vehicles. In addition to managing the repair process, Thoroughbred always points out preventative maintenance items that we should monitor. The vehicles were always ready when promised. The shop is impeccably clean and the staff professional and courteous. We receive follow-up notes and thank-yous. This shop always goes the extra mile. If you are looking for an automobile repair facility that is top notched, then you need to check out Thoroughbred. We highly recommend them!

Be careful, they do not post their hourly rate then charge you for it if you dont accept their expensive estimate to fix your car (will be calling the better business bureau). They also will evealuate your car to fin anything they can "up sell" you on to make more money. I believe they post positive reviewsd on here to offset the real ones also. I love supporting local businesses, but these guys are dishonest and will suck money out of you, one way or another if you take anything to them. Horrible!

I brought my car in because it had a check engine light on. I had been taking my car to another mechanic for years but I could not trust their team after overcharges, mistakes and overall incompetence. The representatives at Thoroughbred Transmissions, ran a diagnostic and told me we should start by ordering a new gas cap ($29) and see if that fixed the problem. It did, and saved me thousands of dollars I would have paid the other mechanic. They have won my business with honesty and integrity. Thanks!

Found my place for tires in Laurel. Small town mechanics feel to this place. I knew I was in the right spot when I pulled up and saw the "air Mail" transmission as a mailbox up 20 some feet in the air, it made me laugh and think of an old family farm in columbia. I dislike the big box car repair places and try to shop local when I can. The people here were friendly and not pushy. My kinda place, no rush, answered all my questions. I would definitely recommend.

Once again I am thoroughly impressed with the service I received from this establishment. I stopped using the "DEALERS" several years ago for my vehicles service and only use Steve and his helpful crew. Kudos to Thoroughbred Automotive... I highly recommend them. They are Honest and extremely well trained. If you want your vehicle repaired properly..... These are the folks you want working on your vehicle. Bill Grammer Owner BG Computer Services Inc.

The folks at Thoroughbred Transmission are courteous and professional; significantly more so than nearly any other auto repair shop I have taken my vehicles to in the past. I had to get an old truck inspected when I moved it to Maryland and a couple issues came up that needed to be addressed. Throughout the repair I was kept informed and everything turned out perfectly in the end. I would highly recommend this place for any type of auto repair.

For a small auto repair shop, they efficiently squeeze in more cars then a dealership, and the work is meticulous, done on time, and done right the first time. And they stand behind there work 110 percent because thats there reputation and is seldom an issue. I know from using them for over 12 years now, with three different cars. the few times I strayed, I paid dearly, and knew to go back to the best, thanks Steve!!!

Jon the service advisor very nice guy went above and beyond the call of duty. But the prices were a little high, more then I could afford. The Asian mechanic seemed rude and arrogant when he was asked questions concerning my inspection on my fiancés car from Jon. Sorry did not get the warm fuzzy feeling from him. If I could afford it I would go again.

Steve and the team are the most honest auto service folks in the industry. I came to them with a dealer directed repair and found it was not needed at all. Left with an oil change and a much happier wallet! This is a consistent theme with Thoroughbred and we have been with them for many years now and recommend them to all of our friends as well.

I have been using this shop since they opened (since it is close to my house) and I have never had a problem. They have always treated me politely and I have used the shuttle several times without complications. I always receive a "thank you" everytime I bring my car in. Well respected shop, I would highly recommend this facility.

GREAT service!! My car had to be towed cuase it wouldnt start. They got me in right away and had me out in an hour, even though they were busy. I thought it was the starter, but just a bad battery, AND the battery was still under warranty from a DIFFERENT NAPA shop. Cost me $55 and didnt ruin my day. WOW, THANK YOU !!

Very very expensive, even charges more than the dealership. Highly suspect all of the google reviews. They will charge you just for tight a screw though you did other service there. Be careful!!!!!
