I started out reviewing and reading Angie’s List reviews for Heating & A/C contractors that service the Baltimore County specifically Edgemere/Sparrows Point area. I selected 5 contractors and called and requested that they come out and provide me with an estimate to replace my aging Heat Pump (1989). I received 4 out of 5 quotes recommending a Lennox replacement Heat Pump and one recommendation for a Carrier. Each quote was a different configuration. After several conversation, subsequent research I narrowed it down to 2 vendors, Scardina Home Services and another organization (which was very professional and extremely timely and knowledgeable to my request for additional information). My selection of Scardina was based on the professionalism and customer service as well as going over and above with follow-up (Customer Service called after the estimator came out – just to see if it all went smoothly and if I needed any additional info). The real icing on the cake was the estimator determined that I really needed a bigger system and that the closet that the original system was housed in would need some minor dismantling/removing parts of the closet door, frame and trim to fit the new system into the closet. The other vendor when asked about doing the same work said they could do the dismantling and removing the parts but I would have to hire a carpenter to put it back together. Long story short – Scardina Home Services met the price and included in that price was the dismantling and returning the closet to its original condition. The work phase - all personnel were extremely punctual and extremely professional. The installation crew (2 man crew) worked quickly, without creating or leaving any mess, and finished the work right at the estimated time of completion (1 Day). The follow-up putting the closet back to original condition went equally as smooth. The gentlemen showed up on time and proceeded to reassemble the closet and painted everything, leaving everything as if nothing had been dismantled. Scardina Home Services recommended a system solution that met my heating and cooling needs, as well as my budget, and then worked with me to schedule the work on the next day that I was available. Providing a complete solution with no hassles! I even received a thank you card in the mail!!!

Jan 31, 2012 Scardina first gained our esteem when 25 years ago Jim Scardina was the only one of several plumbers who correctly diagnosed a problem for us. That work was done to our complete satisfaction. Now, 25 years later, we found ourselves in need of major HVAC upgrades at the home we had just purchased. Starting from our initial consultation through to the completion of the job, we have nothing but praise for the company. Jim Scardina personally handled the initial discussion and estimate with my wife. After speaking with five or six other HVAC companies, we found Jim to be in the middle of the pack cost-wise. So, at my wifes request, Jim came to the house a second time, this time with Jeremy, so that I could be present. I found both men to be extremely knowledgeable with a can-do attitude. All of our concerns were addressed respectfully and completely. We both had the impression that they were not just trying to get a job, but what really mattered was laying all the facts on the table and letting us decide. On the day that work was to begin, the techs who had been assigned arrived promptly and immediately began working. They worked diligently and three out of the four days probably worked 12 hours - with few breaks. The techs were polite and professional at all times; no coarse language was ever heard. The techs were proactive in correcting other problems that they found while on the job.We found Jeremy to be a wealth of knowledge and to represent the company in a very professional manner. We would not hesitate to hire the company again or to recommend it to others. The Scardina company is indeed a local company that the community can be proud of. June 19, 2014 Scardina technician Brian Kelly responded to a late evening emergency call we placed because a of leak, which we suspected was the result of the air conditioning system malfunctioning. Brian solved the problem by methodically tracing the leak to its source--a split pipe in the attic--and quickly replaced the approximately 4 foot piece of pipe. Brians expertise stemmed a rapidly worsening condition.

Shortly after summertime heat waves began, one of the units in my home stopped blowing cold air. So I called Scardina late one morning thinking that it might take a day or two to get an appointment, but the nice lady I spoke to said that she may be able to get a technician out that afternoon and if not, then the very next day. Well she called back a few hours later and said a technician would arrive within 30 minutes, which he did. It just so happens it was the same tech that had serviced my home a few years ago. After doing his diagnosis, he indicated my levels were low and the unit needed charged, which is what I informed the office was the probably the problem. After finishing, he said there may have been a small leak at my unit, which he immediately fixed. Took about 45-55 minutes for all that work. He then said he would take a look at my attic unit to make sure there werent any problems for no charge. He found some water in the base and said it probably came from the pipe having a slight incline to it, I couldnt really tell. But to be safe, he put in a T pipe clear-out and shortened it so it would flow downwards. Workmanship was very good but I made the mistake of not asking about the cost beforehand. It was a little higher than I probably would have agreed to and instead would have installed it myself to save the cost. Overall I am pleased with the service from Scardina and would call them again in the future.

Jim the President from Scardina called me on Monday June 16th morning and when I explained the whole situation to him and later emailed him both the inspection reports from April and June this year , he admitted that the drainage problem in my ac unit was caused due to his company not doing proper preventative maintenance and check up and has claimed responsibility for negligence of his company and also agreed to pay for the damages to the unit below caused by the drainage pipe being clogged and water leaking below. He was very professional and apologized and also sent me an email claiming responsibility and agreeing to pay for the damages to the unit below me.I am happy at least they admitted their fault and agreed to pay for the damages as per their labor warranty for 1 years and 90 days warranty they gave on drain and sewages. I have forwarded his email to my property management and insurance company and it is resolved.My property management company is going to send all the bills for the mitigation work and repairs of the unit below me to Scardina and their insurance company is going to pay for the repairs

UPDATE - 3/29/14 After reading our review, Jim Scardina called and offered to install a "tiger loop" on our furnace at no cost to us. He said that he has one on his home furnace and that it has worked well. Jim Watson installed it yesterday and our furnace seems to be working well. We appreciate the gesture and our opinion of Scardina has improved. I would recommend them to others. ******************************************************************************************** Jaime was knowledgeable and efficient. Unfortunately, he and Jim Watson are getting way too familiar with our furnace since they have to come out to our house within 2 weeks of every oil delivery. We bought a new Lenox furnace from Scardina several years ago and it has not worked correctly since they installed it. We spent well over $500 to have all the copper tubing replaced between our fuel tank and the furnace but that had no impact (except on my wallet.) The technicians are helpful and friendly but have not been able to solve the underlying problem. I would never buy anything from Scardina again.
