Worst contractor ever. They were caught sleeping on the job and the quality of installation is very poor. Each of my toilets are installed a different distance from the wall, and the ones that are too far away all leak. I have to have most of the shower diverters reinstalled (and have to redo the tile around them) because they were put in improperly. They left one of my tubs leaking due to poor installation and refused to come fix it. Stay away from them if you want the job done right. ETA: 1.) You dont mention at all the quality of your work, which is actually the main complaint- and I understand why- it was awful, and the lack of proper oversight on the project probably means you have no idea how bad it was. That is just a shame. 2.) The builder (the contractor you worked for) did not walk away due to lack of payment. Im not sure where you got this lie from. We mutually decided to part ways after he brought to our attention that he severely underestimated the driveway budget. 3.) You walked away from the job at one point, causing us to have to go out to get other bids to finish your shoddy work (all of which would have cost well more than you had remaining in your payment schedule). We did ask you to finish the job, which you never did to our satisfaction. You did virtually nothing to help us thru any process, not even the bare minimum. 3.) The arbitrator (the same builder you mentioned) apparently agreed that you either did not perform all of the work to his standards or that you falsified and postdated change orders - his judgement was that we did not owe everything you claimed. His ruling did not state which one of those (or both of those, as I believe) were true. 4.) We were not forced to pay our bill. We agreed to a settlement to pay you less than you claimed we owed after it became clear you were never going to finish our house. We used the rest of the money (and then some) to pay someone to fix all the problems you created. 5.) FYI, after taking over the project- everything went extremely well other than one area- the plumbing. We have a beautiful house and almost all of the contractors did a tremendous job, with the notable exception of Chesapeake. In fact, the owner of Chesapeake asked to take a picture of our kitchen to put on his website. We said no, of course. I dont mind you responding to try to do some damage control. I would ask you to be truthful in what happened and the quality of your work, however.

My shower was leaking into the basement. Chesapeake Plumbing came out and said that YES, of course they would fix it...but while they were fixing it, why dont we have ALL of the copper pipes replaced? I agreed to this because it did need to be done. $2200 later, the crew left saying they had fixed the issue. The reason we hire contractors is because we cant fix it ourselves so we put faith in them. I had faith in them that it was fixed. 2 days later, my shower was leaking into the basement again. I panicked and called Chesapeake Plumbing to come out and help. They arrived and said, oh, it is probably in the pipes that are behind the tile in the shower...we dont cut into walls. Call this general contractor and he will pull the wall out and we will fix it. If you pull one tile out of a fully tiled stand up shower, that pretty much means the whole thing will have to be replaced. The lowest estimate was $5K to have the shower pulled out and redone. During one last desperate attempt, I called another contractor. He cut through the drywall at the top of the shower around the showerhead, pulled the showerhead out and found the leak. $75 later, it was fixed. I attempted to contact the manager or supervisor at Chesapeake Plumbing on 3 different occasions, left messages with my cell and work numbers but never received a call back. I wasnt calling to yell, just to let them know that the issue was misdiagnosed and to request a partial refund of the fix from the shower. No response. Really crappy customer service guys!!! Getting two stars instead of one because my copper pipes were fixed...just not the ones that were broken.

The Chesapeake Plumbing team arrived just before 8AM and did not leave until after 7PM and completed the job in one day. From all indications this was not the result of management leaning on the crew to work supper human levels but rather a plumber acting with compassion and integrity to see the my family had full use of our plumbing facility at the end of the day. This took place on a Friday. I had figured this was a two day job and I would have been happy with use of one bathroom for the intervening weekend. He could have capped some piles and left at 4:00 or 4:30 and I would have been satisfied. Rather, he finished the job, cleaned up and was completely done by 7:00. He did not even take a lunch break. In addition, when we turn the system back on there were no leaks. Good work for a plumber. As people they were kind and over the top polite, all day and into the evening. Frankly, I would have been challenged to meet that standard, no food, long hours and hard work and always pleasant. Chesapeake Plumbing, good people.

I was referred to Chesapeake Plumbing by one of their satisfied customers with whom I go to church. We have a difficult, complicated water filter system problem which has affected the plumbing throughout our entire house. John listened to the tale of woe as to how weve arrived at the current situation, then he independently checked the household water to confirm the status of the water in the house and in the plumbing. He corrected some minor, previous fixes to the plumbing then assessed a comprehensive fix to the plumbing stoppages. He will be coming back to break through drywall to get access to showers/tubs in order to completely fix the compromised plumbing. While we are still mid-job, we are confident that John knows what hes doing and that he will be able to restore our plumbing to its original or an even better state.

We had a leaky faucet in our downstairs bathroom that went from a dip to a strong steady stream. We googled some local plumbers in the area and came across Chesapeake Plumbing Inc. Called explained the problem, the woman said she didnt have anyone available today but could send someone out tomorrow between 8a-12p. So the next morning John is knocking on our door at 8:15am to address the problem. By the 9:15, John had the problem corrected. John was professional but still personable, friendly and at times funny. He broke down the invoice for us and even educated us on how pricing with some companies are are going from standard pricing to commission based pricing. Because of our experience with John, we will DEFINITELY recommend Chesapeake Plumbing Inc. to those in need of a plumber. Thank you for saving our water bill!!

I contracted with Chesapeake Plumbing to divert rain water away from our home and to repair a French drain. The work was not completed as agreed to. The work performed to divert water away from our home backed up a couple of weeks later and resulted in all rain water diverting into our basement. Also, the French drain works worse now. When reporting the issues to the owner I found him very rude. I asked for a refund and the owner of Chesapeake Plumbing refuses to acknowledge that his crew did anything wrong and attempts to place all of the blame on us, the home owners. They have an additional complaint on the BBB web site in which they also place all the blame on the home owners. I advise everyone to avoid this company at all costs.
