When I first moved to Allston I began to see this shop for basic repairs, I assumed they were good because I kept going back. I was driving one day and a metal bracket fell loose under my car and began to drag as I was driving. So I looked under the car and bent the bracket upwards so I could drive it to the mechanic. I didnt know what it was nor did I google it, which I shouldve done. I went to them and asked them to fix whatever it was. Well they said I didnt need it so they removed it. I trusted them. Months down the road I decide to check out another mechanic for a basic tune up. They had told me my fuel tank was being held up by one rusted fuel tank strap. They said one was pulled off. Your fuel tank is only supported by these two straps. The folks at Hynes decided it was ok for me to drive around like that. Its very unsafe and the fuel tank couldve fallen off and created a bomb. Thank you hynes for being educated enough to risk my life. You guys suck hard at your job and are incredibly careless. That strap couldve easily been welded back in but they removed it. When you drive with only one strap they advise you to not drive it at all and if you do with little to no gas to weigh it down. Please guys, dont support these people.

I have been to the Michael J Hynes Service Center probably 5 times since getting my 97 ford wagon. It seems determined to have a problem every couple weeks and they guys are amazing at getting it back on the road. They have excellent prices, are fair with you, explain what is wrong so you understand, and are very good about getting the work done in a timely manner. I have been to other shops where I feel like they are trying to screw me from the moment I walk in, not this place. I have never once felt cheated or gouged. I really cant say much more. If you just look at how busy they are that should tell you something. It usually takes two days or less to get my car back when I just drive up and drop it off without calling ahead (it may be longer depending on the work you need done). I have had my front struts replaced, oil changed, a faulty motor shaft sensor replaced, and an vacuum canister/valve replaced along with some other smaller things. I highly recommend them. Just go here, you wont be sorry.

Weve been dealing with Hynes for more than a decade. I cant say enough about them! One situation stands out in particular: one of our sons was driving on 128 when the hood popped open, destroying the hood, windshield AND roof. We had the car for another decade, and there never was any sign that it had been damaged. Not only are they artisans, but they go out of their way to help customers in a time of real distress, and are unfailingly courteous. I cant say enough about Mr. Hynes personally and his team!

I have been using Hynes since I moved to Allston in 2009. I now live in Watertown and still bring my car here because I trust them more than anywhere else. Every estimate and actual job theyve done for me has been cheaper than competitors and I have always been satisfied with the service. When they have made a mistake, theyve displayed excellent customer service and dont charge to fix the mistake. Go to Hynes if you like quality work, low prices, and reliable and friendly mechanics.

Absolutely the worst experience that I have ever had with a vehicle repair location. My vehicle had a coolant leak (fairly simple repair) and was at this garage for nearly 2 straight weeks. The service was below average. They kept telling me that it would be ready earlier than it ever was. Extremely frustrating and unbelievably inconvenient.

These guys are pros. Friendly people, timely service, and they returned my Jeep looking spotless inside and out. I will definitely go back to them in the future. Ive been to 4 different places around Allston/Brighton and this was by far the best experience Ive had.

Great work - fantastic service - fair price. What else could you ask for in a car mechanic. They have limited parking in Allston, so you will not be able to keep your car there all week, but hey - who cares about that. Would recommend Michael and team to anyone.

Total ripoffs. They charge for things that werent done. Theyll say, that both sides (of whatever) need to be taken care of, but only fixed one side. Yet charges you for both anyway.
