I just rented a unit here to store some furniture while selling our condo. I should preface this review by saying I was all set to give this place 4 maybe 5 stars until just before I was leaving. The place is clean and the incredibly patient woman that helped me tolerated the fact that I first reserved 2 units online by mistake and then realized the unit I had reserved was far too small so she walked all over the building showing me more units until we found the right size. I was very grateful for all her help she was exceptionally professional and made me feel very welcome. It was smooth and easy. My unit was closest to the rear loading dock so I pulled my car around back to unpack my car. I punched in my code grabbed a dolly and loaded her up. There is a normal size door that opens with the code and a garage door that can be opened once inside. I punched in the code pulled the dolly through the normal smaller door and headed for my unit. It was several minutes later I heard a man calling my name. (he must have watched me on security and come up the elevator from the office) He walked right up to the door of the unit I was in and asked if I had been shown how to use the garage door then informed me I was not to use the smaller door with the dolly. I felt like I was in kindergarten being reprimanded. I had no idea that I had to use the garage door just that it was there as a convenience. He then hung around the floor working while I finished all my loads. We were the only people on the floor. I was really uncomfortable. I understand the rule I just would have preferred that he come down and educated me not cornered me in my unit and reprimanded me for a rule I hadnt known I had broken. To be fair he was really friendly and nice on the phone when I had called earlier. It was just weird. I would recommend having that rule written in more places. I couldnt find it written at all and also to give the customer the benefit of the doubt the very first time they have ever been in the facility. Otherwise its an awesome facility and apparently they watch you very closely on the security cameras keeping your stuff extra safe.

My experience with this facility is mixed. While the staff are friendly and very helpful, and the facility is clean, there are a number of drawbacks. If there is a current customer in the office when you arrive, you may have to wait a long time to be waited on as they typically only have one staff member at a time. The rates quoted on the site are not necessarily the rates you will get when you arrive as the unit advertised may not be what you had in mind (out of the way, weird configuration making it unusable for your needs.) The loading dock in the back of the facility for the 1st floor access is terribly inconvenient for large trucks. Almost impossible to back in with the fire hydrant across the street and cars parked close to the driveway entrance with a very narrow street. The one way configuration with the neighboring streets make it very difficult to maneuver your way back to civilization, especially with a large truck. There is no dumpster for use to throw out any collateral trash after unloading. When you sign up, you have no choice but to include a minimum insurance payment of $7+ per month. Shouldnt the facility be insured against fire and theft? Why do we have to pay on top of the monthly rental?

From start to finish one of the worst experiences ever with a storage facility. From the top down this location is so far from customer focused that I often felt like I was on a reality gag show. Unbelievable how poorly the manager treated me. I questioned some of the policies that seemed odd and Charlie, the manager, snarled at me. I had to call the BBB twice on this place because they were trying to pull a fast one. The manager tried to renege on a promotion and secretly charged my account the full amount. When I caught him and called him out he again screamed and yelled over the phone. This is the second extra space facility that I have rented from. I tell you it is night and day compared to the Milton facility. It feels like the management at the JP facility makes up the rules as they go along. Some of the policies here I had never even heard of at my previous ExtraSpace facility. Not customer friendly policies at all. Well, Im finally moving out. Cant wait! I dreaded dealing with the office/management at all cost, with one bright spot, Erica, who was great. REALLY though, what an experience! I would NOT recommend this kind of headache at any cost.

A collection of thoughts: *The phone reservation representative did not mention a few of the cheaper options that were shown through the website, so I would recommend for others to go the online route to see all the available options *Incredible customer service. Everyone at the company was very friendly - it was almost off-putting, but I guess Im just not used to that level of professionalism and service, haha *The cost of renting the units increases significantly every few months - so its best to take advantage of the first month free (or half-off) deals and initial pricing, but if you are looking for longer-term storage, there are likely less expensive options *The 10x10 space that I reserved was an L-shape, not a square *There is a ceiling light inside the unit *The loading carts were in good condition, rolled well, and had a built-in post to show the max height one can stack things and still fit through the doorways *In my units hallway, about 20% of the other units had delinquency locks on the doors *They strongly encourage customers to post reviews, and thus why there are so many for this location

My initial experience was great. Nice staff and very accommodating. What i didnt realize was that they had gate hours which I wasnt notified of. I assumed that I had access to my unit at any time, so on my move in date I was locked out of the facility because it was after hours I was stuck with a truck full of furniture and a house that I had already turned the keys. The keypad said to call management but there was no number provided to reach them. I was forced to rent the uhaul for another day to keep my furniture. Great staff good prices but i wish i was made aware ahead of time that there were cut off hours to the unit.

These guys are great! I had another unit a few miles away, I got one twice the size here for the same price. The hours here are much better too...they are open right now, but I have to wait another 3 hours for my other unit to open so I can move the rest of my stuff here. Im terrible with names, but the guys here are always happy, cracking jokes, and eager to help. I lost my keys, they cut my lock for free. My other unit charged $25.00. I really cant say enough about this place- if you need a storage in the Boston area, look no further.

I have never used a storage place before but had my stuff here for about a year. The facility was clean, easy to use, and had good hours of availability (though not 24-hours). My only complaint is that the unit I had was not cleaned prior to my use and that the monthly prices seem to go up ~15-20% every year...seemingly rather steep since it is not clear to me that their overhead was also going up that quickly. That being said, the rate was competitive with other places (at least when I started) and it was convenient to use.
