talk about your b league of staff... Pre-pick-up: my sister made a reservation for Sunday @ 10:00AM. the day rolls around and i call at 10:15 AM apologizing and telling them ill pick it up at 11:30AM. I get a call at 11:15AM from an employee who rudely asked when Im picking the truck up and that because I was "late" (though I called them an hour earlier changing my pickup time) they COULD HAVE given my truck rental away. Where in the uhaul (or any) customer interaction handbook do they tell you to threaten the customer? Pick-up: the employee wasnt horrible but was the woman who I talked to earlier who forgot to update my pick-up time. she did however seem to be dead inside and made me felt like i was bothering her on one of her days off. additionally, the truck was not outside where she told me it would be nor were the keys in it and the search for them took about 10 additional minutes which wasnt a big deal but after the treatment i had up to that point made it seem like an hour. Post-pick-up: my sister, who made the reservation, provided her credit card information so that she could pay for the rental. at pick-up i decided to get insurance and put my card down for this. i noticed when signing for it that the rental cost came up and asked them why, if i was only paying for the insurance? the woman assured me that it would be on my sisters card and was only being displayed as a summary of the transaction. a week later though my credit card got charged for the full amount including rental and my sisters did not. i was only impressed by how unimpressive the service was and dont plan on coming back to this location.

Back to back failure to execute a simple hitch installation. I dont normally leave reviews but this one seemed worthwhile. Two days in a row I scheduled a hitch install and dropped off my truck for a hitch installation. The first day they didnt keep the appointment and failed to drill the hole pattern correctly to allow installation. They said installation cant be done without removing the gas tank. I went home and tried it myself to learn the hole pattern issue mentioned already. I took it back for another appointment for which they again couldnt keep and explained what needed to be done, but this time they after I left, they decided for me that I dont need the hitch that I bought and twice scheduled installation with them. They told me to just use the bumper hitch because in their view it was all that I needed, but were unwilling to put anything in writing about the towing capacity of the bumper hitch compared with what I had bought. On the upside, they were helpful in redirecting me to Carlo at UHAUL of Brookline, MA. Carlo and his guys are professionals! They stayed late to install the hitch for me (I was in a jam, and had communicated this to the Brighton crew also). The fact that Carlo had it done in an hour tells me that choosing Brighton was a colossal waste of time using the Brighton UHAUL crew.

I went in on Sunday to pick up a truck I had reserved. One worker was fine, but the other worker was being condescending and totally unhelpful to a gentlemen trying to figure out if he had the right connections for a trailer. Ok fine, bad customer service. Ill just get my truck and itll be fine. 40 minutes later I have my truck. I use my truck and before returning the truck I stop at the gas station right at the corner of Beacon and Market street. This is the one they told me to use since its right next door. I fill it up until the pump clicks. It was $4.11 of gas for the 24 miles I drove. Yes, that makes sense. I parked the truck in the back and left the keys in the drop box since it was past closing time. Today I get my receipt and wouldnt you know it, they charge me $30 for not filling up the tank and then $7 for the gas. I called just now to figure it out and they told me to call back and talk to the manager, who is also the person who checked in my car. This is absolute bull! I am so angry that I did not listen to these other reviews beforehand. I never thought U-Haul would be such cheats! Take your business somewhere else!

Yesterday they took nearly 2 hours to hitch up trailer that I reserved. I pulled out of lot after noon time. This morning, they charged me entire extra day for being "30min late" (attendant yesterday marked 10:30 return) despite again waiting in line for them to clear two trucks ahead of me. I mentioned that I had the truck less than 23 hours since they took so long to hitch me up. I stated that if I am to be charged, I will then take it with me for the day, but they would not allow it since they already unhitched the trailer without informing me of the extra charge until on my way out. The attendant, Mr. Leo River, claimed that I was supposed to be inform of this when I pulled up, but they were busy and had a person who was still in training. He stated that although they have identical trailers available in the lot for the day, I would have to pay additionally for yet another one if I wanted to use the trailer for the day, i.e., charged twice for the same trailer. DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ARE FOND OF POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, LONG WAITS, OVERCHARGES, AND RUDENESS.

They completely screwed me. I called the Brighton location and arranged the reservation. Then a few days later, the night before I was to pick up, I got an email saying my reservation was at a different location, at the wrong time, with the wrong size truck, and the wrong type of trip. Its like I got someone elses reservation entirely. This email came in after hours so there was nobody to talk to. After about an hour on the phone with their national hotline I was able to cancel, and thats the best I could do. Completely screwed my entire move. If you must deal with this place, remember that nothing that they say verbally means anything at all. Make sure to have them email you everything in writing before you get off the phone... and even then keep saying your prayers until you pick up.

Im only giving one star because there is no lower option. I rented a van and before I drove off the lot, I noticed the gas was about 1/4 gallon low. I informed the manager who assured me that it was because the van was on a hill. He said if not, keep my gas receipt for when I return. I filled it up and returned it and was then told they dont reimburse for gas...even though it was their mistake. Then he got short and started walking away. I raised my voice, which didnt help and he proceeded to call the police and tell them I was being rowdy and getting in his face, which was a lie. Avoid this place if you can. They obviously dont give a crap about their customers.
