Having been in sales and being responsible for a territory that expanded across the state of Massachusetts, my manager told me to locate a storage unit that was within my territory. I called up a couple of my teammates and they referred me to a number of different Extra Space Storage locations. I looked at a number of locations, but I ended up in Jamaica Plain. I was welcomed at that time by Shad who was running the facility. I was instantly impressed and ready to join his tightly run program. When he started typing in my home address, he mentioned that there was a facility that was closer to my home and might be more convenient. He went out of his way to make a call over and see if there was any availability at the Quincy location where he was quickly able to locate a unit that fit could fit my needs. To be honest, I wasnt ready to commit to a unit, and if I were I was more inclined to join the Jamaica Plain facility. Regardless, Shad reassured me that it would be more convenient and I quickly built trust with not only Shad but Extra Space Storage. I signed a lease, and almost 8 years later i still am there. About 4 years ago, I walked into the office and was pleasantly surprised that Shad had moved over to the Quincy location. Not only was the facility well run, safe, clean, etc. I immediately built up a friendship with Shad and have nothing but amazing things to say about his character, his professionalism, and his willingness to be very customer centric. Id often stop by if I was having a bad day just because I knew that Shad would always be there to greet me with a smile and firm hand shake. Honestly, I dont think that I would be there if he werent still there. In addition, Ive referred a number of my friends who are also customers there, and they too have nothing but positive experiences. Shad is a class act!

I have rented parking at this facility for a year now. My car was damaged by the snow removal company that this facility hired to clear the lot. The local management and the district manager Matt Deegan took over a month to get me the plow company name and the insurance company they use. Extra Space has been uncooperative in helping to resolve this with me and the vendor THEY hired. They told me I would get an incident report , after a month, now they tell me I can not see the report and they dont get involved in this kind of stuff. After I contacted the plow company they refused to accept responsibility after they spoke with they storage facility. The storage facility will not disclose the content of the communication they had with the plow company. You get the idea here by now I hope. Bottom line they are all show about service. When it comes down to actions, they are non existent. I ended use having to pay 500 out of pocket and use my own insurance company. Extra Space was no help at all nor did the accept any responsibility for the damage their plowing company caused. I am sure they still use the same plowing company so be warned. I would recommend a local operation rather than this large faceless corporation that hides behind their "policies and procedures".

Decided to rent with Extra Space Storage in this location primarily because of the EXCELLENT customer service skills of Juan, the assistant manager at the site. Not being very familiar with storage facilities,we needed very basic information as well as very specific information about the exact units available as we did not want to book online sight unseen. Juan couldnt have been more informative as well as patient with all of our questions, and let us view the available units several times in the "tour" as we got a bit confused in the maze of corridors as to which unit would best meet our needs with the most convenience/accessibility. There were no questions he could not answer. He was exceedingly polite.The facility appears very clean and well managed. Seems Juan is the jack of all trades and "go -to" guy there, so we will look forward to working with him as we begin to use the facility for our decluttering project. Five stars for Juan and the Quincy location, so far. Andrea

Great customer service. I rented two 5x10 units. ++ Shad Mahlum was very friendly and professional, so the customer service was excellent. Got emails regarding my service and call backs to make sure I was really done. Facility was okay; a bit rickety on the upstairs floor. Wish I had known there were multiple entrances and there were two elevators. There were quite a few carts supplied by the facility (although ones handle was easy to pull off and some of the wheels alignments werent perfect... but acceptable). Facility has good parking and security. (I also rented from another storage place which had slightly better hours and cleaner facilities, but it was more expensive.) A little strange on the deposits and move-in fees (which is a tiny bit deceptive on the marketing side) -- the website says "First Month Free" but its really "first month no additional charge beyond the move in fee" ($29).

I wish everyone catered to the needs of the customer as well as this business does. From the very beginning, our move was a complete nightmare. We met with obstacle after obstacle during the entire process. Shad and all the employees at ExtraSpace Storage define the essence of complete customer service, respect and willingness to meet the customer half way, if not all the way in order to fulfill their needs. I am extremely appreciative of all the help that ExtraSpace storage has done for me and my family. Gratitude cannot express it enough. Thank you.

Shad was a godsend for me today. He took the time out to sit with me to go over my bill and then went over each option that I would have if in fact I needed another storage unit. He has patience of gold, is very professional and yet makes you feel very comfortable at the same time. I say this where I am a customer that is constantly late and just comes into the office like a bat out of hell and am not the easiest person to deal with which is why I feel the need to post this comment. I do hope that all of these qualities that he has are recognized.

Happened to walk in on a Thursday afternoon and received immediate attention from Juan Pino. Juan was professional and courteous, allowing me to view two storage units, and after a quick review, the site is clean and secure, I realized that the 5x5 ground level storage space fits my needs. The unit is great for my storage needs and I was able to purchase a lock on site to ensure that I was safe and secure. The site has a 24 hour lock on unit policy. Having rented previously an hour north of Boston, I had sticker shock when looking around the city when I moved. Extra Space has reasonable rates for the area and better than average access hours 6AM - 8PM. There are several loading docks, with carts at each of them and convenient elevators if like me, you are upstairs. Climate control is a plus and access to power is wonderful! (cant say how many times I have had to dig through my boxes in the past with a flashlight in my teeth!)
