U Haul is a near conscience-less business. I rented a truck in Oklahoma to drive to Cambridge. The business did not have the truck we reserved so we were given a truck significantly larger than needed. Next, the transmission slowly broke down until the vehicle could not exceed 2nd or 3rd gear and the engine overheated in Ohio. In Ohio, they refused to rent us another truck until we had some code which had to be gained through significant time calling "customer service". After numerous calls, each of which requiring to be on hold for probably 30 mins, we were told we would have to wait till the following day. So we lost a near day of driving. To be fair, U Haul did pay for the hotel, but of course this was a room we would not need if we were given a reasonable truck in the first place. The following day, we were told no such code was necessary. Luckily, we got a newer truck, but of course we had no help in having to transfer all the stuff from one truck to the other. Upon arrival, finally, in Cambridge, we were not given correct directions as to the drop-off point from "customer service". Regardless, we found the correct drop-off. However, this lot was entirely, entirely full. More time on hold with customer service told us that we would have to go to another location the next day, which was of course not possible, because, thanks to losing at least a day, we arrived only the afternoon before early morning flights the next day. Of course customer service had no idea what to tell us. My advice: Do NOT rent U Haul!

I made a reservation at this location a week prior to the pick up date. I was told I would receive a phone call by 5pm prior to the date of pickup. When that phone call was not made I called to inquire about the status of the reservation. I was unfortunately met by a rude representative who continued to cut me off when I inquired about the status of the rental. I was simply told to wait to get the phone call and that there had been delays. The store was closing in 20min and I tried to get a sense of when I would get called so I could figure out how to proceed. I was put on hold, and then disconnected. This continued for a few times. After a long time on hold I was again met with hostility and no new information regarding the rental. I was stuck between trying to get a new rental from a different company or waiting to see if I would get a confirmation but was told there was nothing I could be told regarding the status of the reservation. When I inquired about options regarding canceling the reservation if I still didnt hear from them and found a truck elsewhere I was told that I would have to cancel right now. After I did I was immediately hung up on. I understand that difficulties arise with coordination so that is not the issue: rather the salesperson clearly had no interest in providing any kind of assistance and secondary options; her only interest was getting me off the phone which she readily accomplished. I would strongly suggest calling any place but this one.

U-haul is terrible. I rented a truck and trailer (for my car) one-way dropping off Somerville location. they took forever to get my reservation down. their systems really need to be streamlined. It was a good thing I called back to verify the reservation because it never actually saved in the system when they told me it was. Had to go through the uncomfortably long reservation process a second time! They arent polite either. Seems like they despise their jobs (again signs of a bad system/organization). After i returned everything on time, i continued to get texts for a week saying that my equipment was overdue. I called and called, but only got forwarded to the main customer srevice line b/c the local office was too busy. They kept informing that the office would return my calls. they didnt of course. Dont use these guys. dont use U-Haul anywhere for that matter! I have never written a review before but this i just couldnt pass up!!

I wish I was one of the people who had a good experience here, but unfortunately I am not. The customer service was absolutely terrible. We book our appointment to pick up our Ubox three weeks in advance. When we arrived they couldnt find the box, and after 20 minutes of waiting we ended up finding the box ourselves. We then had to wait for the employee to load it into a trailer. He was moving the forklift very dangerously and also used it to move the trailer. Also, a different employee, without telling us, got in the truck we had rented, moved it out of her way, running smack into the hitch of a trailer multiple times, and then did not return the truck to where she had found it. They also did not check to see if the electrical connection between the trailer and truck was working, so we did it ourselves. So, so bad. All of the other Uhauls Ive been to have been great, but this location was terrible, at least the day we went.

The Most Friendly Of Employees Service I Have Ever Encountered .. Thank Yins All At " UHAUL " , For Many , Many Years Of Enjoyable Service , Via Rental Of Storage And Rental Of A Vehicle .. Bless Yins Hearts For It Has Made It Easier For Me As One Person Doing My Best In Many Diverse Situations .. Made the reservation online for 12 noon on a Saturday, they called to confirm and I was unavailable, and put me down as confirmed anyway. Called back to confirm locale as "George" did not leave the address, told them I wanted the truck at 11 as they were pushing me for an earlier time. Wake up Saturday at 9:30 to a message saying I was supposed to pick up at 8 am and the reservation was canceled and they put a $50 fee on my debit card. Challenging the fee.

Had made a reservation online a week in advance. When I showed up they didnt have the van I had reserved available. After 45 minutes of messing around they finally canceled someone elses order to fulfill mine. Returned the truck that night with the EXACT right amount of fuel as what I left with. receive the bill the next day via e-mail and they tacked on $45 for a fuel surcharge. Will never rent from Uhaul again, avoid at all costs

Worst U-Haul ever. We scheduled an appointment to have a hitch installed, showed up on our scheduled day, waited in line for ~45 minutes only to find out they didnt have us on the schedule. THEN, we reschedule for a few days later and they say it will take ~1hr to install.... so we wait over an hour and they havent even started on it and the guy who installs them is NO WHERE to be found. Left and will NEVER go back.

I had no complains. Reserved the truck, got the truck. I able to extend the drop off time and add another trolly. I can see how things get out of hand on a big moving day but on a regular Saturday I have nothing to complain. Maybe a note: the trucks use A LOT of fuel. I can see how people think they are cheating when they need them to fuel up. I did it myself and I was shocked how much fuel I used.
