UPDATE - (DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!) Two months later I am now working with the Ohio Attorney Generals office to mediate an agreement between Cam Schea (owner) and myself. Once we reached an agreement I have now been waiting almost a month for payment to be sent to me. If youve ever an had issue with this business (Shea Van Lines/Silverback Moving) I can not encourage you enough to please contact the Ohio Attorney Generals office. No one deserves this kind of treatment during the most stressful day of your life or to be wrongfully lied to/about and ignored. !!!! I booked Shea Van Lines/Silverback Moving (SAME PEOPLE) a couple weeks in advance for Friday, May 26, 2017. When Thursday, May 25th came I got a call to confirm my move for the next day. Kim told me to expect the movers between 9:30-10:15am. She also said they would call before they arrive to let me know they were on their way. On Friday, May 26th, I waited until 10:30 before I finally called Karen at Schea Van Lines/Silverback Moving to ask where the movers were and if she knew when theyd arrive. She said she would call them to find out and call me right back. She never did. I called her again at 10:55 to see if she had found anything out. She said Kim was supposed to call me and at that point, I asked for Kims direct number myself. I called Kim and she also couldnt tell me when my movers were going to show up. She said to give her an hour to find out. I gave her TWO MORE HOURS, she never called me. I called her back and she said they would likely be there around 5:00pm. The movers finally called me about 3:00pm and said they would be there at 4:15pm. I met them at my apartment and they started at 4:30pm. One of the movers ended up being highly allergic to my cat and I had to go to my neighbors to get him allergy medicine just so he could continue his work, it was awful. They were unhappy and exhausted from their whole day already. They also said they didnt know about my move until right before they got there and that no one had scheduled me with them. They got everything packed and got to my new apartment and started moving everything in. They DAMAGED my bedroom dresser and TORE the NEW flooring in my kitchen/hallway. The movers apologized and said everything would be taken care of and I would be compensated for damages. I also talked to Kim about my damages and she asked that I text her pictures of the damages and I did. She said to give them a couple of days to get back to me, I am still WAITING! The movers also wouldnt even try to move in my washer and dryer because they claimed it wouldnt fit through the door. My maintenance man for my apartment came and got the washer and dryer in just fine, he only needed to remove the door. But because the dryer was now blocking the upstair bedroom all the boxes had to be put in the first floor living room and we have to move everything ourselves after! Its now 6 days later and no one has contacted me about it at all. I called and talked to Jamie on Tuesday, May 30th, she said she would have her supervisor contact me, Ive heard nothing from them. I also talked a man/owner on Tuesday (the movers gave me a phone number and told me it was the owners direct phone number, it no longer works) and he has yet to get back to me as well. I believe they are now screening my phone number and will not answer when I call. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Ohio.

My husband and I were disappointed in this company. Make sure you get a written estimate! This company underbids others to get the business. Our cost almost doubled from the estimate. The movers worked hard and were careful with furniture, however my boxes were flipped upside down and must have been dropped as many items were not just broken but shattered. Mind you these items were bubble wrapped and in many cases surrounded by pillows. I have moved several times before and packed the same way with no broken items. The contract that you dont see until the move is completed and you pay states that the company "is not liable for damage to glass, ceramics, China, or mirrors" Maybe not but I expect reasonable care will be taken with a box marked fragile. It should not be flipped upside down and dropped just because they are not liable. These people are supposed to be professionals. The kids I hired to move me a year ago when I moved in broke nothing. If you use this company you better get insurance. When we went to pay we mentioned to the movers that our original quoted price had almost doubled and we felt that we had been scammed a bit. The one mover stated that all their customers complained about this. He said customers get mad and he gets frustrated because then they dont want to tip. I told him that it wasnt his fault its the fault of the business. We gave the 3 movers each $40. Shortly after they left we noticed our bed frame and headboard was missing. Called the driver and was told he had the frame and would look for the headboard and bring them Sunday. Never received them. We called the company about the missing and damaged items and was told they didnt have them and would do nothing about our damaged items. The owner blamed us. He was rude and hung up on us. Not a good way to do business. I have been in customer service for 40 years. You do not treat customers this way. I have never felt the need to complain publically about a business before. This was a disappointing experience.

Silverback Moving did well over $10,000 in damage to our property, and has not responded to our claim of damages; screening phone calls and ignoring emails for 30+ days. Schea Van Lines managed our move from Columbus to Cleveland; however, Silverback Moving showed up to execute the move. During the move, the staff ran out of shrink wrap, and could only cover our furniture with blankets. They promised to fully wrap everything when it went into storage. This did not happen. Upon arrival to our new home, pieces came off the truck unwrapped, chipped, broken and damaged beyond repair. The boxes packed in the truck were dropped and handled in a less than professional manner; based on the significant dents, collapses and tears in the cardboard. This is beyond the damage consistent with normal handling. Upon opening the boxes, the damage to our property continued. The added pleasure has been the discovery of multiple cockroaches in our belongings. The worst personal violation was finding that our property had been rummaged through. We found items from latched bins scattered about the truck, purses and personal property turned inside out and searched and jewelry boxes had been ripped apart. The appearance of the truck, and the treatment of our property is nothing short of negligence. Since our move, we have filed a claim for damages with Silverback Moving, and the owner Cam Schea. To date, we have had no response from the company in any form. They have screened our calls and emails go unanswered. I have escalated this case with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and will pursue legal action if necessary.

Do not trust this company if you are looking for a hastle-free move. The movers arrived an hour before our appointment, and expected to move to the next job before the minimum 3 hours of service because they had to wait for us to arrive at the scheduled time. The company knew ahead of time that we were moving an upright piano, but failed to send the movers with the proper equipment for the job. Instead, the movers decided to drag the piano through our hallway and down the sidewalk without a dolly or floor protection. The hardwood floors in our hallway have been noticeably gouged because of this. Their dolly also did not have properly working skid belts, which resulted in scratching our wood steps. When we approached their manager regarding the damage, he was very rude and insisted that we pay in cash for the services despite the damage. Although we eventually got them to refund the extra piano fee, the manager was unable to correctly add the charges in his contract. They billed for the half hour discussion with management. The manager went out of his way to call us back and assert that "the movers would not be paid because of us" and we were "the worst customers he ever had". On the plus side, all of our furniture is in excellent condition, and the movers themselves were clean, strong, and a pleasure to work. I am disappointed they have to work in such an environment.
