Usually my overall experiences with service visits are excellent. For one visit, my car almost died at a stoplight and I barely limped it to Berger, was able to get it in, get a shuttle ride to work, and pick it up by the end of my work day! I also need to give a shout-out to Mel, the shuttle driver. I forgot my coffee mug in the car when I went in to work and he took time to bring it in to me! Totally unexpected and above all expectation. My overall experience with Berger since buying my vehicle in April 2012 has been quite negative however. Even after countless times of expressing how dissatisfied I have been with communication from Berger, I still have not received an adequate response or one that even pretends to care about my needs. I have brought my vehicle in for engine-related issues many times, and I wish service agents had more influence and communication with the sales team. No one from Berger has answered why I had to bring my vehicle in for the same thing multiple times within a year of purchase and why it took several visits to finally determine that "oh, did you know there was a rattle?" and that there was a product recall, when I had been asking to have the rattle researched. My vehicle should have been able to take advantage of the lemon law, but Berger shrugged off every inquiry I made about it and changed the subject. In my experience above and beyond customer service applies to some people, but not Berger overall as a company, especially some of the agents who have been there long enough to become jaded toward all customers and who treat me as an irate customer when I would NEVER raise my voice or speak in a bad tone to any service person (maybe I should, as those people get actual results). When I started talking to a service agent about some of the issues Ive had with my vehicle, the first reaction was to toss me to another SALES person to get me to BUY a new vehicle and go with larger monthly payments - WHAT? So you sell me a bad vehicle that probably should have been Lemon Lawed, Ive poured money in to it because youve refused to fix it the first time, and now youll "help" me by selling me another vehicle? How does that make sense? Customer service means putting your customers needs above your own, not focusing solely on your bottom line. I have asked for an explanation, some sort of refund or settling, some help without arguing for almost two years and have not gotten a second look for it. I think Berger tries to give good service but loses site of the customer too often, something that has made me seriously consider never purchasing another vehicle from Berger again. I wish I could take some of their people with me to wherever I may purchase my next vehicle from, however. Ive had positive and negative experiences with the sales staff, one of whom was so incredibly rude and insulting to me because he assumed I wasnt "wealthy enough" to waste his time on. This person also happens to be one of the top performers, so it makes me wonder what the company values.

Berger Chevrolet has far exceeded my expectations and I cant say enough about them! They are a professional organization and take Customer Service to a whole new level. A big thank you to "Cathy Hubbard" for seeing my passion and making this whole experience something I will never forget! She bent over backwards to help me obtain the un-obtainable! Also thank you to Emily the "marketing specialist" for taking an interest the day I showed up with the Car. Lastly, thank you to "Dale Berger" the owner for his generosity and kindness. I am a muscle car enthusiast to the max and recently had an extra special experience provided by the Berger Chevrolet. I was lucky enough to find a 1970 Nova SS 350 for sale on a Craigslist Ad in Nunica, MI. Upon closer inspection of the photos I noticed the car wore the famed "By Berger" dealer badge on the trunk lid. Sometimes in life you have those jaw dropping moments and for me this was one of them! My mind started racing and I was filled with excitement. I couldnt believe my eyes and couldnt call the owner fast enough! After verifying the car did in fact come from this High Performance Dealership, I knew I had to have it and the search for a Nova was over. After talking with the owner over the course of a few days and convincing him I was not a scam......lol, I purchased the car site unseen. I must admit a little scary especially coming from Michigan and not knowing how the body had survived after all these years. The car never left a 40 mile radius of Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, MI. where it was originally purchased. I flew out to pick up the car and rented a truck and trailer to bring it home to Colorado. The car appeared to be a time capsule since it had been off the road and in dry storage since 1992. The second owner had bought it in 1984 as a weekend toy and held onto the car all these years thinking that one day it would be a father/son project. When his son got interested in dirt bikes instead, the car just sat and took up space in the shop. Finally, the time was right to sell it. After picking up the car I decided to take it to Berger Chevrolet un-announced and asked if I could photograph the car at the dealership before it left the Grand Rapids area for good. Berger happily obliged and took an interest in this "awesome find" and my passion for these cars! They are a truly top notch dealership and having been family owned and operated since 1925 says it all. I am fascinated with the High Performance Dealerships and the special conversion "427"cars they were building back in the late 60s and early 70s. Dealerships like Berger, Yenko, Nickey, Baldwin, Fred Gibb, Dick Harrell Performance Center, Dana, and the likes were building amazing Super Cars. Although this car was born as an SS 350 model, future plans are to make it a special conversion 427 COPO Replica.

Great experience at the beginning but after you purchase, you are dead to them. I bought 2 cars from them in 6 weeks. Bought a brand new 2016 Chevy Traverse, and a used 2008 Silverado. The chevy Traverse had to go back multiple times for repair. I had to wait almost 3 weeks to get it for service. While they had my traverse they never called to give me a update on how things were going. I had to call and ask. After they called to let me know it was ready, when i arrived only half the issues were taken care of. And i told them, im not taking it until its done. They called me 3 times to say it was ready and each time i got there it wasnt. Alot of issues contacting the GM of the store. Wont return any of his phone calls. When the vehicle was finally completed, I arrive to pick it up and it was not in the same condition from when I dropped it off. I contacted the GM again. I was able to speak with. The only thing he had to say was " is the vehicle back in you possession? " I said yes. and then he hung up. Did care about anything besides making sure the vehicle was back in my possession. They never even offered to clean the car or anything for all my trouble of driving there and time wasted. I called again to the GM and he never returned my call. Love the Traverse but hate the dealer. Customer service sucks, and management dont care. Wont be buying here again. Before all of this happened, while we had a appointment for the traverse I bought a used Silverado. They told me it would go through a inspection before I would get it. Well, Im not sure if it did. They did deliver the truck to me at my work place. But 3 days after having it the troubles started. Got to work on day 3 and I was hearing a very loud noise in the back. Broken left spring and its rubbing on the tire. Every time I start the truck a big blue cloud of smoke comes out the exhaust. It burns a significant amount of oil. Broken door handles. After contacting them they did repair the leaf spring and the door handle. Even though they dropped me off at work, I had to get my own ride back. Very inconvenient. And the engine that burns oil? I was told " you didnt purchase a warranty" If this vehicle went through a inspection, you would have found the broken door handles, the broken leaf spring and that the engine burns oil. Truck only has 99k. So now i paid all this money for a nice truck that the engine needs to be repaired. Talk about great customer service. You can even see it for yourself on the reviews. They responded to the 5 star comments saying thank you for the review but do you see any on here for the people that had issues? Nope. I wont be recommending anyone to this dealership.
