I decided to give Hals a try because I have heard good things about them. When I first arrived I was greeted and had my vehicle written up. While speaking with the gentlemen up front I told him what was wrong and he gave me an estimate of $89, I then asked if this would be included if I decided to get the vehicle repaired, he said yes. I left my car at the shop for the day and did not get a call, the next day I received a call from Adam about the needed repairs, he explained that they inspected my car and gave me a run down of items needing repair and the total would be $1400. I came in because my engine light, I declined the other repairs in order to get a second opinion. Once my car was finished I received a call saying it was done. I came back to the shop with my wife and looked at the final bill, the $89 was not waived, and the amount was larger then I expected. I will not return to Hals Auto Clinic nor will I refer anyone here for the following reasons: 1) I feel the communication about pricing was deceiving 2) When my car was returned to me there was a hamburger wrapper on the passenger floor, a receipt from the day my vehicle was there, and my radio was turned up on a different station 3) I took my vehicle to Belle Tire for a second opinion, I did not need the repairs that Hals Auto Clinic recommended with their inspection BEWARE OF THEIR SALES TACTICS HERE, Hals does a lot of advertising but they are not as trustworthy as they come accross

I was looking for a new shop since I really disliked the one my husband had been using. We needed a filter/fluid change on the transmission so I took it to Hals to test them out and see if they were honest and competitively priced. They did a good job on that routine maintenance and since I also had some brake noise and a shake in the steering wheel I took it back to Hals after a few days. The mechanic told me what I was pretty sure of, my front rotors were a bit warped and there was a fair amount of rust to be knocked off. I didnt mention what I thought the problem was to see if theyd give an honest estimate and diagnosis. I was pleasantly surprised that they came back and said they could turn the rotors and likely solve the problem. Most shops would have seen me and assumed I was clueless and told me I needed pads and rotors etc... Hals didnt. They gave me an honest and fair job on my vehicle. My 2 year old son and I waited while they fixed up my Ford Flex and I listened to all the customers they took care of in the span of a couple hours and it seems honesty and fairness is their normal business practice. Couldnt have been happier. Thanks to Hals,I finally found an honest mechanic!!!

This is absolutely the best place you can take your car to for repairs. Adam, their service desk guy, is a most decent and polite individual you will meet. He never loses his cool and he works with you to meet your needs within your budget. Their prices are reasonable and they give you some break if you ask. My Dodge Ram conversion van has 192,000 miles and I think with Hals Auto Clinic help I may be still driving it when the odometer hits 292,000. What I like about them is that even if you dont remember they did some work for you and you go to them if they find it is under warranty, which they give for 2 years/24000, they honor it. I took my van last week because its heat was not working. They repaired it and to my surprise charged me nothing. I had totally forgotten that a year ago I had gone with the same problem and their computer had remembered it and they honored their warranty.

Hals is absolutely phenomenal. I have been to both branches (Farmington Hills and Northville) and am consistently impressed with the service, transparency, how quickly things are done and the facilities. I recently had maintenance on the front brakes - everything was explained carefully, shown to me in the garage, and the price was excellent. I am very satisfied with the service and the amount of time it took to complete the job - I highly recommend this auto shop, I live an hour away from both branches and absolutely think its worth the drive to Hals instead of going to an untrustworthy chain like Midas, etc.

Dont fall for the $25 off "get acquainted " coupon. You will never see the discount because once they know you have the coupon, they will jack up the final price to more than cover it. UPDATE: After I posted this review, Hal called me and I explained how I felt Id been taken advantage of. To his credit, he refunded the difference between the original estimate less the coupon and what I was charged. So now we are "acquainted" and Ill be going back to Davis, where the prices are not cheap but Ive never felt any less than satisfied. Bumped to three stars because the work was satisfactory.

Hals is as honest as they come: accurate diagnostics, fair pricing, and excellent service. Hes gained our whole family as customers, working with both our domestics and imports. Last year, my sister took her car to the local Subaru dealership where they quoted her over $1,300 for a complex brake job. She took it to Hals for a second opinion; they noted it was a minor issue and fixed it for less than $100. There are other examples (several with my trusty 1995 Volvo alone), but its too long for a G-review. Give them a shot and theres a good chance theyll make you customers for life.

Hals is truly a place you can trust. I had some low end maintenance work done at some other place and they told me I needed a new wheel bearing. I took it to Hals for a second opinion. They gave the car a thorough look through and told me that there was nothing at all wrong with the wheel bearing. They did the analysis for free and were very helpful and friendly about it. Weve taken other cars to this location and the cars problems have been properly addressed and fixed in a timely manner. This is a great place with great service.

I had a grinding brake, the dealer said all four wheels needed rotors and brake pads. I thought that was not right and went to Hals Auto Clinic for a second opinion. Don worked me into the schedule the next day after assuring me the car was safe to drive. Turns out only the rear wheels needed new rotors and pads, not all four. I was in and out of the shop in two hours flat, and the cost was very very reasonable. For the first time EVER I feel that I was not taken advantage of getting a car repaired. Thanks guys!

My car needed new brakes, I had it checked out at another local repair shop and they gave me a price that was quite high and , I called Hals Auto and spoke with Jason, he was very knowledgeable and gave me some good information, I decided to give Hals a try, I was very pleased with the service I was given. Jason and Mike saved me a lot of money and even got my car repaired in just a few hours. I would definitely recommend Hals Auto Clinic to all my friends and family.
