Ive been having trouble with a rubbing/grinding noise coming from under the hood since the weather has gotten colder. I have an 02 Ford Focus manual transmission and when the car warms up the noise goes away. I took it to Total Transmission at the advice from Belle Tire down the street. I described the noise to Bonnie and told her I know that I need a new clutch but Im hearing a noise and I dont want to replace the clutch if its something else going on. She kept it overnight and called me the next day and said that she had heard the noise and that it would be fixed with a new clutch installed. The price was fair so I told her to do it if it indeed was where the noise was coming from. Ive never heard of a clutch making a noise but what do I know, Im not an mechanical engineer nor am I a mechanic. I picked my car up and drove it away. It still had that same noise coming from under the hood. Not only that but my brakes were completely shot at this point and the engine light was on. I took it back and asked for someone to take a ride with me. Gary, the mechanic came with me and he pointed out 2 more noises that I wasnt hearing. One he said was another transmission problem (the throw out bearing also known as the thrust bearing) that Id have to fix at a later date because theyd have to completely take it apart again (why wasnt I told this over the phone the first time?). The second noise he said was coming from the motor and that I should have a tune up. There was the obvious brake noise now and also the noise I was worried about and he was dumbfounded about this noise. They did a diagnostics on the engine light but never told me what it was and it just went away but then the starter was acting up. They had to replace the solenoid because the car wouldnt start. This is exactly what I was worried about. I knew it needed a new clutch but I didnt want to do it if the car wasnt worth it. I will never take another car here again and I will strongly advise other people to go elsewhere.

The words that Bonnie kept telling me: "Ill call you with any information and keep you in the loop." I had to keep calling, I called the parts distributor and found out that they had only called TWICE to them and that was to report the transmission was bad and to order a new one. And when I called she was always in a rush like she never wanted to talk about my vehicle. WHICH Im still having issues with, not to mention my neutral safety switch is screwed up because of them. In which Ive had to start my car in neutral. I left my car in their care with three forths of a tank of gas, come back to get it, its almost on EMPTY. My car stunk of body odor and it didnt stink when I left it, had to use a whole bottle of febreeze and a three pack of air fresheners to attempt to get the stink out. Also had to wipe down my interior with hot soapy water because it was grease covered. I understand that mechanics work here with grease and grime, but for the live of God WASH YOUR MITTS BEFORE GETTING IN A CAR! I was supposed to only pay my deductible, but yet they tacked on an extra forty dollars that was never explained. I will NEVER bring another vehicle to them. NOR recommend them to my friends.

The transmission in my car started slipping. I had taken my car to Belle Tire hoping to get a diagnostic to find out what was wrong with my transmission. The employee there instantly referred me to Total Transmissions. Instantly I had a warm feeling soon as I entered the door. Bonnie, the front desk worker, was extremely nice and comforting. My cars transmission had been slipping for 5 months and I was hoping it was the computer (easy fix, speculating itd a cheap fix) and not the transmission itself (expensive, expensive, expensive...). I gave Bonnie my information and left my key with her. It was all together a 10 minute visit; quick and efficient. Having left my car there on a Friday afternoon, I was reassured by Bonnie that she would call me and let me know what had to be done. I received my call and was able to give Bonnie my credit card number over the phone to pay for the fix. It was CHEAP and hassle FREE. Im overall proud of my decision to leave my car in their hands. Long story short: I would recommend Total Transmissions for EVERYONE.

I gotta hand it to Bonnie and co at TTG on Allen Rd. I picked up a 96 S10 ZR2 for $750 bucks and it needed work. Clutch, Slave, Brake lines, AC.. not a pretty picture. But it was solid, so I brought it over to the only place I knew of being new to the area. Bonnie was able to get me scheduled in during the hectic snow season where everyone and their brother had a blown trans on their plow trucks. She kept me apprised of every phase of the build and advised me on what worked for other customers in the past and surefire fixes they stood by when doing work on other similar vehicles. It got me to work, safe and sound, and most importantly for a fair price. Theyre honest in their work, and dont mind if you come by and ask them a few questions about issues even before bringing a vehicle to them. I always do. Theyre a valued part of the downriver community and I will be bringing my vehicles to them for any work that I havent tackled myself or find beyond my mechanical aptitude.

Amazing is an understatement. Bonnie completely understood my situation and what I was dealing with and made me feel extremely comfortable. I didnt feel forced into anything and they worked with me and even held onto my car over the weekend while I worked out the financing I needed to have my transmission rebuilt. I gave them a call on Monday morning to tell them to start and by Thursday afternoon I had my car back with a completely rebuilt transmission. The vehicle drives better than it ever has, it was rebuilt with upgrades, and comes with a fantastic warranty. When they say they are the best it isnt arrogance, its the truth.I highly suggest anyone looking for any transmission/gear/differential work to go to this shop. Honest, polite, sincere, and quality are the best words I can think of to describe this shop.

My neighbor who is a "car guy" told me about Total. I took my car in twice in one month last year. The first time, what I thought was a transmission problem turned out to be a wheel bearing problem. The second time there was a leak in some valve. (Im not up on auto terms) While they were checking on the valve problem, it was determined that I also needed brakes. Although all repairs were expensive, it was still better than having to repair or replace the transmission. I would not have known the difference if they had told me I needed a new transmission; however, they were honest and forthright with me and I appreciate such honesty in business dealings. I would certainly return for any future problems. THANKS!!
