If I could give this place zero stars I would. As I tried to leave today after collecting the last of my belongings, the woman working there said she was calling the police because I had littered. She would not open the gate so I could get out. Basically she held me hostage for 20 minutes. She opened the gate before the police got there and told me she was only letting me out on the condition that I never step foot on her property again. I told her I was waiting for the cops so that I could press charges against her. I could not get the police to arrest her, but was advised by police that some civil action on my part was in order. The police told me that they told her that she could not lock people in. I definately intend to pursue legal action against this company. I just regret I didnt take pictures of her in the midst of her rage/tandrum. I would definately have posted them here. When I get the police report I will post this womans name.

When I first called this facility they quoted me a price for a storage space of 10 x 10 x 10. It sounded okay, so I took it. When I showed up to move my stuff in they said they only had two 5 x 10 x 10 units available for the price I was given. I was very frustrated and felt "had". They were trying to pull the old, "bait n switch" on me. After much over the counter negotiating I finally had enough. I asked to speak with the district manager. At least this person had the business sense to do the right thing and give me the 10 x 10 x 10 unit for the price I was originally quoted. Beyond that, the billing was all screwed-up. I paid extra for paper bills to be sent to me. These came a month too soon and two at a time, (for different amounts!). In the end they gave me a fair price. However, I had to go through a big mess to be treated fairly.

Upon reserving my soon to be unit online with a special promotion (First month FREE), the next morning I had a follow up call from the location, they left a message letting me know that they had received my reservation and if I had any questions!!! Now that is awesome for me... knowing that they will have a unit that I reserved... And that they were on the ball with customer service!!! It only got better, I was in the office for a few minutes, then off on a golf cart to check out the unit where my belongings would be stored... back to the office, finished the contract, signed the lease... unloaded my vehicle!!! This experience was a 9 out of 10 ~ Very happy that I chose a place that truly cares about their business, and their customers!!!

I am in transition at the present time and contemplating a move. Julie, the store manager took time out of her day to discuss prospective storage options. I felt like Julie made me a priority while I was with her. She was extremely patient and friendly as she showed me various storage and packing resources that will make my move a smooth one. I rented a 5x10 storage unit here for a year and had a great experience. The employees were extremely helpful whenever I had a question about the companys procedures or had an issue with my unit. The proximity to downtown Birmingham is ideal, and the price is reasonable for the area.

The manager, Julie, at ExtraSpace in Troy (on Coolidge) did a super job with setting me up with the right unit, showed me the unit and explained the operation at the facility. Its clean and well run. I would definitely use ExtraSpace at this location again. Recommended.

Place is pretty nice, clean, and feel safe. For being located so close to downtown Birmingham, it is very reasonably priced! I would recommend this place to anyone due to its location and ease of access, just right off coolidge!

The on site manger is friendly and stands to greets you as you walk in the store. The property is clean and has no garbage around. Very secure with the pad lock entry. Overall a great experience at the Troy extra space!
