I could not remove the rear license plate from my 2008 Toyota Corolla. I had tried a few different things for a few months but the screws were rusted on and they just would not budge. I finally called the Toyota dealership and they quoted me a price over the phone ($63.) So I agreed to bring it down. Once I got down there and they looked at it the guy in the auto shop told me it would cost double the price (they wanted to charge me for each screw and there were 2.) $126. to remove a license plate. I bought the car brand new from the Toyota dealership and thought it was crazy they wanted to charge me that much to remove screws that actually came with the car when I bought it. I had never been to Honest Auto Care but figured Id give them a try since they are close to my home. They would not say for certain how much it would cost but the guy on the phone assured me they would not charge what Toyota was quoting. He told me there were a few ways they could remove it but wanted to see it first before telling me my options. So I brought it down. I went in at about 6:00 at night and there were quite a few customers in the waiting area already but they got me in right away. About 15 minutes later they brought me back to the area where my car was and thoroughly explained to me my options and the best and most cost efficient way to fix the problem. I was in and out of there in less than a half hour and he they only charged me $23 to remove it (and he was nice enough to put the new plates/frame on also.) Granted, he did have to drill two seperate holes in the back next to the old ones for the plate but there was no way you could tell that was done as it still looked centered. The Toyota dealership never gave me that option. Im bringing my car here today to have something else looked at.. hopefully I have the same great experience again :)

Honest-1?? Maybe not so honest I went to “Honest-1” because of a vibrating noise my car was making. They told me that it was a bad power steering pump and gave me an estimate of $700 to repair it. I thought that was kind of high so I checked around. Another shop gave me an estimate of $385, which is $315 less!!. When I told “Honest1” to cancel the appointment I had made with them because I found a much better price, they said that they would match that price. I do appreciate them matching the price, but why did they give me such a high estimate in the first place? Was it based on actual parts and labor costs or on how much can we get out of him. I let them do the job, but needless to say I will never go back there because I will never be able to trust that their estimate would be an “honest one”. Additionally, they later said that I also needed a power steering pulley which was another $125. I asked them when I first brought the car in if perhaps it was the pulley making the noise and not the pump, but they assured me that it was the pump. After replacing the pump they said that they both were bad and that the bad pulley messed up the pump. I asked to see the pump, but they said that they already sent it back (in exchange). Okay, maybe that was all true, but after that crazy initial price thing, I was just suspicious of their honesty and it made me wonder if they were telling me the truth.

Oil changes should be simple, right? Wrong! First time I have brought it anywhere other than the dealer. And the last time. As soon as I left and accelerated the car made a louder noise than I have ever heard. Called them and they told me to bring it back. After looking for two minutes they said it was nothing they did. Called Mazda and they immediately said check if the air filter box was secure. Sure enough, it wasnt. Had my wife bring it back as I was already worked up enough. They secured it and all is good. Isnt this oil change 101? Last time going to this place. I get accidents happen but after bringing it back they didnt even check something that apparently is common? If they cant do something as simple as an oil change do you really want them to do anything more complicated on your car? What is also funny is seeing their reviews on their website as 5 out of 5 stars. Very apparent they dont put anything negative on their site. Very misleading. Google reviews show a much more accurate picture.

I brought my Lexus rx350 in on 6/7/16 due to the VSC, check engine light, and traction control lights on. After paying $139.95 for them to "diagnose" my car and finding multiple sensors bad they quoted me at around $1800 to fix it. Thankfully they did not have the parts in and my boyfriend wanted me to get a second opinion. Today I brought my car to the dealership and they were able to fix the correct issue of the air fuel sensor, not the O2 sensors or lamda sensor which was quoted to me at Honest 1. Fixing the correct issue cost me $587.46 which is nothing near the price I was quoted at Honest 1! This is not the first issue I have had at Honest 1, however it will be the last! I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone that I know! Im not sure if they like ripping people off, or just like to make uneducated guesses to "diagnose" car issues. Either way, my last visit was on 6/7.

I can honestly say that I have never been more confident in my choice of auto mechanics! Im someone who DREADS taking my car in for regular maintenance or repair services after having many encounters with manipulative, aggressive, and greedy managers at other automotive repair centers who have profited from my lack of mechanical knowledge and every mothers fears of having their car malfunction with their children in the car. Each and every time I have taken my vehicle to Honest 1-Auto Care in Anoka, I have been very pleased with their kind & respectful attitude with customers, the quality of their work, timeliness, frequent and thoughtful updates as to the status of the work being done, clear explanations, and honest estimates as to what the repair would cost and how long the repair could be postponed - Ive never felt pressured to have any work performed and the aging car continues to run fine!!

Approximately a year ago, I posted about how Honest One fixed a steering issue with my Toyota Tundra and did a great job. Since then I have had nothing but problems with this place. Today, 1/26/2016, I dropped my truck off at 130 for an oil change. I told them I would be back around 5pm, which gave them 4 hours to complete a simple oil change. When I arrived back to the shop at 6pm, the oil had not been changed, but they told me that my truck would be the next vehicle up. I told them I did not have time and nor did I want to wait which is why I dropped the truck off. They gave me my key back and offered no apology. Unfortunately, this is the second time I dropped my truck off and they did not complete the job. I guess its a crap shoot if you get good service or not, but I will not be returning.
