Update April 28, 2017: TAC bailed me out again this week. Now, my ignition broke in the daycare parking lot. I showed up with car in tow about 10am, they had it done by 3pm. Ken was awesome. A place I trust. The Owner is local and highly visible. Recommended, especially in a pinch. Two things up front that got me in the door: location is walking distance from my house, and this business is the first place Ive seen that actually responds to user reviews, good or bad. The 5 star reviews helped too. I had an electrical problem of some sort that shut down 3 cylinders on my V8, and it was running quite rough. I called them around 8:30am looking for same day service as I had to pick up my 2 year old kiddo from daycare at 3pm, but also understanding that electronical can take time to diagnose. Ive been there before in another car that while under warranty had to bring to the dealer 7 times before they figured it out. Anyway, come 3pm, they were an hour into running tests. I didnt want to drive it then bring it back, so I asked if they had a loaner car, but I really dont like loaners either. I thought it my only option. They did me one better and offered me a ride to pick up the kid. Thats pretty down-home-local if you ask me and accepted the offer. After getting dropped back off at the shop (so I could put the car seat back in my car and not have to carry it around) we walked to Lakeside park, and within the hour got the call they found the problem and fixed it. An obscure wire plug had come loose. These things just happen in cars sometimes but Im fortune it wasnt something bigger and more expensive. Bottom line, they got it fixed same day with no significant cost to me, they are friendly and service-oriented, and in my case, go out of thier way to accommodate a customer. Im completely satisfied this time around. Oh and they told me about a ball joint going out that I had already known about, so that catch was spot on. There is usually always a cautious cynicism associated with any repair shop you dont know with whether you can trust them or not, (as with almost any other business that involves fixing something) No one likes getting ripped off. All I can say is, based on my one experience with TAC, and other user reviews, they are completely legit and a local shop you can trust, and if youre looking for one, at least try them out.

I was referred to TAC by a friend of mine because my Pontiac needed some work. TAC is obviously in Forest Lake, but I live in Maplewood. But I heard such great things, I decided to give them a try. I had my oil changed & the mechanic checked out the other troubles. Matt (the awesome owner) explained what was needed & why. That was my first time at TAC, & Matt treated me like a friend he had known for years. When I got to TAC that day, I was grumpy & having a very bad day. But while my car was being worked on, I got to hang out with Matts CUTE little dog & the mechanic guy at the desk. By time left, even though my car was going to need about $2,000 in work, I was in a much better mood! It really is a family business, even Matts parents were there helping a bit. I will be a repeat customer for Matt & the TAC crew! (As long as my car makes it! Lol )

Total Auto Care is dedicated to providing locals with services that fit their needs. They wont sell you services you dont need or do monkey business to your car for the extra labor. Their goal is to get you back in your car and driving, and that is something I can proudly say they accomplish. They also provide custom services for the people who like to make additions to their vehicle: custom wrapping, motor enhancements, suicide doors, and more, all at an affordable price. Personally, I like to support small-town businesses vs. paying top-dollar at corporate stores. I trust people who have a face, a name, and are willing to forge a working relationship for future work on my car. Total Auto Care is able to meet these needs, and I highly recommend their services to others who value the same.

I visited TAC in the spring of 2015, and I couldnt be happier with the service I received at TAC. They were able to get me in right away, took care of the problem (a vacuum problem in the engine) and I was back on my way within a half hour. The engine is still running great. I just visited TAC again today (12/20/2016) and everything was perfect! The repairs were done quickly. They checked over everything for free and identified a couple things I should plan to fix in the future. My vans heat is working perfectly now and the wheel alignment feels great! Staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They gave me a great deal. I wont take my van anywhere else. Thanks so much, TAC!

We brought a used car to them to have it inspected before we purchased it from a local car lot and we were very impressed by them, they went above and beyond to pull the vehicles history, and check everything from top to bottom. The boss even told the guy in the shop to check it over as if he was purchasing it. They found an axle seal leak, a rack and pinion leak and bad breaks, we were able to take this info to the car lot and we were able to use this info in negotiating and the car lot knocked $700 off the price for us. Seems like a very dependable repair shop with great customer service.

My boyfriend and I took our truck in to get the mirror replaced. Long story short, I had hit the mirror on a pole in our yard trying to park. I was extremely worried about finding someone to be able to do it in a short amount of time and today. Ken was extremely helpful to us and got it done quicker than I expected! This is definitely a great environment with great workers and I definitely see us taking our cars there in the future rather than to the mechanic we were. We are both excited to continue bringing our business there.

I had problems with my car on a Saturday we called Total Auto Care and they got us in that day without an appointment. They followed up with the dealership to have my problem taken care of under warranty. Then also followed up with me after to make sure everything got taken care of after it left their shop. I could have not asked for a better experience in dealing with car troubles then I had with Total Auto Care. I defiantly recommend this shop for Any of your car needs. Thank You Matt, Ken and Nina.

Honest, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly people. I went to get my oil changed and they pointed out to me that my alternator wasnt even bolted in correctly. Which showed me that when I had my belt changed at Walmart they didnt correctly put it back. TAC tightened it up and did the oil change while I got to hang out with the cute puppy in the lobby. Over-all a great experience and I will be heading back there next time I need anything done! Thanks you guys!
