I went into the salon for a quote on balayage and showed the stylist a picture. She gave me a quote for $208 (my hair is pretty long and thick so I figured it would be a little costly). I told her that I really dont want to spend more than $150 so if we could do something more subtle but still have a similar effect, that would be great. She then gave me a quote for $151 which involved using two different tone foils. She said we would definitely need to do a full foil which is why it would cost that much and that we will get my hair close to what I expected. After spending a few hours in the salon, I left without looking anything like the picture I showed and beyond disappointed with my experience. The stylist was very nice and made me feel comfortable, but left me with nothing that I asked for. For what I wanted, it would have taken a lot less hair dye and a lot less time. (Even without doing the balayage, she could have just used fewer highlights feathered throughout the bottom for a less dramatic of an effect, like I thought she was doing). Now I have a very blonde head of hair and had to go back to the salon to tone down the blonde around my face. Looks nice, but NOTHING that I asked for or was expecting. Not happy.

Dishonest about prices at the Fantastic Sams on Excelsior Blvd.!!! I had a decent haircut there, so I made a reservation to have full foils. The price on the board was just over $50.00 for the service and I confirmed this price with them before I made the appointment. When I arrived for the foils, I asked them to clarify the price and the quote came to $187!! When I asked how it could be so expensive I was told that the price was in line with a top salon. I have paid around $90-$110 in the past, both at Jon Oulman and the Juut salon at Southdale, for full foils. But I have never been charged more than that for this service! How could Fantastic Sams cost significantly more than these full-service salons for a much more basic experience?? Its a shame that they attempted to overcharge me since I really liked the person who was doing my hair but I will not return to a place that has tried to cheat me.

They dyed my hair the wrong color! I made an appointment for a cut and color. When I went in, I said I wanted only a half inch or so of the length cut and they cut off 2 inches! Then, when it came to color, I asked for a color as close to my natural medium brown as possible. (My hair was previously a lighter color from bleaching a few months back) The stylist matched me to a swatch that looked very close. After she rinsed out the color, my hair was black! When she was drying my hair, I commented on that and she said that it looked black to me because of the fluorescent lights and that it was clearly a mocha brown. When the color was in, she said to let it sit for 15 minutes and then didnt come back for 30. I dont know if it was neglect, or she mixed it wrong, but either way, it was a horrible experience. It wont be back to normal for months! Complete waste of $131 and change.

Prior to earlier this month I would have rated this place much higher as this was the nicest FS I had ever been to. I only had 2 complaints: 1) They dont accept any of the Fantastic Sams specials/promotions/coupons. 2) Their hair care products have decreased in quantity and increased in price. As I said though, the was before. 2 weeks ago when I showed up and asked for Jen, I was told "shes on leave... but someone else can help you." When someplace says someones on leave it makes me think illness or some other personal issue. For this salon, that is code for "they have left." I found out that Jen had quit and went to a different salon but they say this in an attempt to retain customers. By the salon not being honest about the situation, I wont be back.

My hair has been through a ton of coloring! I use to straighten it everyday! With this being said my hair does have damage and with the help of Redken products and my awesome stylist Jonathan my hair has been brought back to life! I get my hair cut about every 1 1/2 -2 months. Every time I walk out of this fantastic sams my hair feels and looks great! I have also had my haircut by Jake in the past and he does a great job as well! If you are looking for a great cut by a friendly stylist I highly recommend you go to Jonathan or Jake at the Fantastic Sams in Miracle Mile!

Awesome salon - clean, bright, and the stylist act like they "love their jobs" - wow! Jennifer my stylist suggested a different style for me and I took a chance and went with it! I have received "lots" of compliments that it was the best style on me - I feel great! And the cost is within my budget. Try them out - ask for Jennifer! Teresa 3/21/11

i had been going to the one off cedar lake road before. little did i know the miracle mile location is by the same owner and manager and loved the treatment i got before, like the free shampoo and a little head rub that felt nice. great employees and great stylists there. compared to a great clips its amazing!

Fantastic Sams is the perfect place to go for a quick appointment that wont cost an arm and a leg. I typically get my eyebrows waxed here because its in and out and significantly cheaper than some of the salons. Theyre always friendly, but sometimes there is a bit of a wait since you cant make appointments.

Not happy with my haircut. I wanted more volume in back and she seemed to cut all volume off. I wanted back cut short and tapered at a v. All back was cut short and straight across, no v cut to see. But she was able to give me the Chem treatment to make money, which I did not want. Im pretty upset.

Did not honor appointments. Was given a time and on arrival was asked to wait 20-25min for hair cut. Very unapologetic about delays.Asked for staff who checked me initially- left for break (and will not be back for 30min). Would think twice about going to this place next time.
