When I moved to St. Paul in late 2008 I needed to find a new oil change provider. *sigh* I hate doing that -- I cant imagine its high on anyones Love To Do list. But, lo and behold, a mere 1.5 miles away from our house is Minnesota Repair. "How much easier can this get?" I pondered. Sure, its close to home... ...but thats not why I continue to be a loyal customer at this locally-owned and operated auto repair shop. What keeps me going back? The guys who work there are good at what they do. Theyre honest. Theyre super-nice. AND they never, EVER pressure anyone to buy something they dont need. You know exactly what Im talking about: the Big Brand auto companies where you go in for a "quick" oil change and end up having to send back the mechanic 3-4 times with "No, I dont need a new air filter. No, I dont want to upgrade to whatever-it-is youre trying to sell me. No, please just change the oil!" The mechanics at Minnesota Repair dont do that. Theyre not going to pressure you into buying a ton of superfluous items. What theyre interested in is doing a good job. And they love repeat business -- they know their clients by name and welcome everyone with a smile. An oil change is an oil change, but these guys just do good business. Plus, theyre local! So, support a small business and call Minnesota Repair :) *Disclaimer: I know they offer MANY more services than mere oil changes; Ive also had tires replaced/fixed there, engine checks, etc. But they do a lot more than what I know about!

The 18 year old Onan 4K Genset on the RV has served us well with 284 hours of work. It stopped while cooling the coach as we were loading for our Memorial day trip. It has stopped before for whatever reason, and we wouldnt need it for the holiday had shore-power. Upon return Monday, May26th, while unloading, it would start and stop. Plugged into house power and unloaded. Tested more things after on-line searches and found many possible problems, low oil sensor, no voltage output, needs flash over, etc. I needed the RV for a June 6th set up, so I had to get it fixed quickly. I stopped by with my service manual and talked to Greg about the problems, what I had tested and asked for other ideas. He told me what to test and how, the tests failed so it needed major help. I dropped it off on Friday, but they got to it on Monday, and told me what they found. It was a total mess, broken rotor, brushes, starter, voltage regulator, fuel and air filters were all replaced. It was up and running Wednesday night and I picked it up Thursday in time for my weekend sale. Chris gave me more advice on starting procedures and oil types for our operations. These guys are great, big test run this Saturday with a 6 hour run, I have total confidence it will be just fine!

We moved to St. Paul in 1987, and our landlord at the time recommended Minnesota Repair ("Carricks" at the time) when we had car trouble. We have been taking our cars there for 28 years! The same guys all these years! My review will re-state what others have already said in previous reviews: * they are excellent at their job: figuring out whats wrong with a car * excellent at fixing whatever it is * THEY DONT PRESSURE YOU TO FIX STUFF THAT DOESNT NEED FIXING!!! This is particularly important to me. They let us know if they see something that needs fixing, but they also let us know if it can wait a while, or if it is really important or if it doesnt matter that much. * they are honest, men of integrity. Particularly important in this kind of business where one can easily be taken advantage of. This is the only car repair shop I would recommend to anyone with full confidence, and we have had some friends and family that have also made Minnesota Repair their car repair shop because of our experience.

Weve been coming to Minnesota Repair for 9 years. Chris and his experienced staff have always kept our high-mileage cars running smoothly and at a fair price. As a woman, there have been many times Ive walked into other shops over the years and known that they were taking advantage of me. That has never happened at Minnesota Repair! I tell them what I do know, they explain what I dont know and I am confident when I walk out of there that my car and I are getting the best care. The service is top notch with a personal touch. The shop is clean, well maintained and organized. The guys are friendly and knowledgeable. I have recommended Minnesota Repair to several friends. For as long as we live in the Metro, Minnesota Repair is where we will take our cars for care!

Were from out of town and our "service engine soon" light came on. Called a bunch of places, they were not available to diagnostic tests until Monday. Finally found this shop, called and was able to accommodate and run the test. Considering it was a Saturday and appointments were booked everywhere else, we were so thankful! Drove to the repair shop and met the owner, Jame. He is awesome! Was quick to assess our vehicle and told us what needed to be replaced. Told us that the wait was going to be about 2 hrs, he called for the parts and thank goodness they were in stock. He got the job done in less than 2 hrs! Professional and courteous! If we ever encounter car troubles again in while in the city, would definitely come back to his shop!

My husband and I have been bringing our vehicles to MN. Repair since we moved into the North End of St. Paul since 1999. We have always owned used vehicles, both domestic and imported, most recently a 2011 Toyota Prius. We have found them to be honest, helpful, and knowledgeable. So much so that when my sister and brother-in-law drove up to see us this spring from Missouri and were having trouble with their Honda Civic, I sent them to MN. Repair. Chris and the boys assessed the problem and fixed the car (at reasonable rates) to my brother-in-laws satisfaction. We are very happy we found this repair shop and recommend them highly!
