I brought in a 2005 Lexus RX330 in for service in August 2013. It needed front end differential work and the 100,000 service maintenance. I also brought in groceries for charity so that they would replace my brakes. I thought this was such an awesome deal. I must say that everyone one there was extremely nice but it was not a good experience for me. They called me after 2 days and said the screws were stripped and they could not do the front differential work. I believed them on this because I had someone else who did car work for me and he probably stripped the screws. I have no idea if Signal Garage made the worse. Their 1st quote on the 100,000 maintenance work was $1577.00. WOW. I called Lexus and there price for the same work was $850.00. I thought Lexus dealership had the highest price around. Signal did offer a close match but I would really have severely overpaid on the initial quote. As for the brakes...they said they were fine even though another garage said they needed to be replaced. In the end, I picked the car up THREE days later with no work done and took it to the Lexus dealership to be repaired at a cheaper price and gave me a new car to drive while they did the work. Signal said they could not do the work because of the stripped screws. I find Signal Garage to be nice to females but definitely not a female friendly business that women can trust. I would definitely recommend any female to get a 2nd opinion on price or have a friend review any work so you are not severely overcharged. I hate to give such a negative review because these are nice people but I have to be honest because they put themselves out there as female friendly and reasonable priced. They are not.

Ive been very happy with Signal Garage until my last visit. I took my car in for repairs ( Jan 25, 2012) related to a car accident. The car was ready for pick-up on 2/10/12, so I returned my rental car to Enterprise Rent A Car. When I tried to start the car, it was discovered that the battery was dead and no one could pop the hood. Dave, the office manager (?) oulled the car around and after a bit informed me the hood was open but it was misaligned. I noticed this when I was looking over car but hadnt mentioned it as yet. Dave had his mechcanic, Mike, drive me back to Enterprise to get another rental car. Dave told me not to worry about the rental charge. Enroute to Enterprise, Mike told me Dave would charge Maaco for the cost. Two months later, a charge for the car rental was issue on my Debit card for $496! Romy, the owner, states it is my problem because I got the rental car on my own that the cost was mine to bear. I spoke with Inver Grove Maaco, who couldnt even find the work order, and was no help whats-so-ever. Romy couldnt find the order to send my car back to Maaco, either. I had the car for 12 days until I was told to pick it up by Signal Garage. Romy insists that the car was ready the next day but I didnt return until 2/20/12. I have since turned the bill over to my attorrny to recoup my payment. DONT BELIEVE SIGNAL GARAGE AS BEING FEMALE FRIENDLY!

Prices not so great, and my sister got the "upsell" treatment heavy. The guy running their Grand Avenue location is nice enough, but I only have gotten oil changes there. These folks advertise Heavily (lots of "woman friendly") and this Has to cost them a lot and this Has to be passed on to customers. Not as bad as Pace next door and right on Robert St., but nowhere near as good as Hometown Tire (which does much service too) - my absolute favorite among three in this neighborhood, and Ive been here 28 years: -Hometown Tire, -Cherokee Service (on Dodd Road) more cranky, but great prices and competent. -Rodriguez Auto (on Humboldt/Wabasha - West Side) Works straight through Saturday and Sunday - not always totally right-on competent for highly complex things, but will negotiate on price, and get you in/out fast - will work on cars with parts you supply (save you money).

My front breaks on my car were to the point where my car felt almost unsafe to drive. I was able to drop my car off on a Sunday night, which worked perfect for me because of a busy work schedule. I had my breaks completely fixed, oil changed, air filter changed and windshield wipers replaced. When I got off work I was able to swing by and pick up my car. My bill was ready and the price was extremely competitive. Breaks and wipers work great and they also accept many different types of payments. Management was extremely easy to work with and I was never given the "sales pitch" that something crazy was wrong with my car, very friendly atmosphere. I had a great experience and would recommend all friends and family to take their vehicles to Signal Garage. A simple thank you note was in the dashboard of my car with a mint. Simple things go a very long ways.

I began taking my car to Signal Garage last year after the previous place that I was taking it kept telling me to just ignore the dashboard lights and bells that kept coming on. Clearly there was something wrong. When I brought it in to Signal Garage for the first time they listened carefully to what had occurred and thoroughly checked the car. It was a head gasket leak and potentially/likely the engine would have blown if I just continued to drive it. Signal Garage gave me a loaner car to use for a few days while they did the repair. I trust Signal Garage and have taken my car there for any concerns and routine maintenance since then. They are very accommodating; I usually drop my car off and they will give me a ride to my destination, then they call when the car is ready and come to pick me up. Thank you for the great service!

I wanted to try out this shop since I am new to the area and heard good things about them in other reviews. I was disappointed to find out that they charged me for services I didnt request and told me I needed services that I know I dont need for example: they said I needed a new oil pan because it was leaking yet there is no oil spots on my garage floor and it is common for GM vehicles to have small leaks in the oil and tranny pans. After I voiced my complaint to them they will not leave me alone with setting up appointments for me and constant junk mail. My wife also finds it insulting that they call themselves "female friendly" assuming that women are too dumb to know about cars and are expected to get ripped off.

Shady... I have some mechanical knowledge from growing up on a farm so I usually do my own minor repairs. However when I lived in West St. Paul for a year I had no access to tools so I would take my cars to signal for oil changes and such because they had good prices and seemed trustworthy. When one of my windshield wipers broke they told me I had a stripped nut and needed an entire new wiper assembly which would be $500. I told them I didnt have enough money at the time and the next time I was at my dads farm I checked it out myself only to find the nut was not stripped at all. I tightened it down and it has worked great for the past six months. Basically they tried to scam 500 of my hard earned dollars.
