Direct TV is better! Switching back & so are 5 other ex-cox customers. Im going to tell you why... I got cable for 2 rooms with 1 DVR, 2 phone lines & internet. I didnt know there was a such thing as "Install People" to come in your home & hook up your equipment, because they didnt knock, nor ring door bell. Cords were left in front of my garage. They came 3x & I connected EVERYTHING ON MY OWN. DVR dont record, 2 phone lines are not ON, because I wasnt told those were separate & I have to subscribe. DIRECT TV lets that come with the package. I paid $115monthly for Direct TV package of over 2000 channels, HBO, SHOWTIME, CINEMA & SPORTS PACKAGE. Cox sports package is overly TERRIBLE. You only get to see certain sports in certain areas. 2000 channels & only 200 work, with HBO ONLY for 3months for $80. DIRECT TV LETS YOU SEE ALL, ALL OVER THE WORLD. Cox Colors of the guide are irritating & childish looking. If you turn off the TV it always starts on 100 & its stupid to have a setting menu to change those settings. Some shows on the guide say whats on, but turn to it & its a totally different show, & pause a lot. On Cox tv guide, you can look backwards at shows already played, for what? For a remind of next show & wait for the "Ding" sound? DVR will let you record, but you cant watch it. You can rewind a movie playing, but not to the beginning. DIRECT TV lets you rewind back to the movie before. What is the point of having Cox? DIRECT TV wouldnt of sent products you cant use. Cox On Demand dont keep movies long & show whats been playing already on regular TV, & right now, as I type, I been waiting 26mins for a movie to start. Its frozen now & this isnt the first time. Too many buttons that dont have to be there. Reminder about a channel will just make a "Ding" sound, but you got to catch it on the screen & select it, before it disappear. DIRECT TV reminds you & auto tune. Too many buttons for nothing. DIRECT TV Page Up/Down & Channel buttons are the same buttons & work for different screens, (more convient). With DIRECT TV you dont have to point, aim remote directly into the box. I can changed the channel in the bed, under covers. Remote is too long & out-dated. Menu & Settings are the same with DIRECT TV, easier. Customer Service is RUDE & INCOMPETENT! Forgetting, they need customers to keep a job. Its only been a month with Cox & it Sucks! Its B.S. & over priced! I will Never Get Cox Again & Will Never Recommend! Get DIRECT TV! Cox havent UPGRADED WITH NEW MILLENNIUM.. DONT DESERVE 1 STAR.

When we moved to Las Vegas a year ago, our high speed internet was paid for by my husbands work through their corporate account. Twice, in the first 6 months, our internet was cut off without notice. Turns out the installers would be in the area changing service, and see that we were receiving high speed internet service, check with the residential service dept., see that there was not a residential account at our address, and take it upon themselves to disconnect our service. It was a royal pain. 8 months later, my husband was laid off, and the company contacted Cox to disconnect service. We called up to activate a residential service contract. Even though all equipment was staying exactly the same, they had to send out a commercial person to uninstall the service, then a residential person to install the service. Guess what happened....the residential guy showed up first, and after 45 minutes on the phone with the commercial department, was able to "transfer" the modem to residential service. He was a class act guy, and is the only bright spot in my experience with Cox. Luckily, he left his cell number with me, because the idiots at the commercial department failed to contact their guy to not bother and show up as the residential guy did all his work for him. He showed up about an hour later, didnt bother to knock at my door, and just disconnected my service that the residential guy had just connected, then left. I saw him as he drove away, and figured out what happened. I called the residential installer, who took time to come out and re-install our service later that afternoon. It was a whole day wasted due to the lack of communication and un-needed redundancy of Coxs business. Now, as we prepare to move out of state, I find out that we have to deal with Cox Las Vegas to disconnect our service, then contact Cox in our new city to schedule installation. Guess what? After 8 months of nothing but headaches with Cox, weve decided not to bother with them any more. AND, Cox expects us to call to disconnect our service on the day of our move. Seriously? You cant schedule a disconnect in advance? Im expected to remember to call and cancel our cable internet in addition to the myriad of other things Im going to be doing as I move? Dont bother with Cox. They are one headache after another.

A 0 rating is not possible, but seriously, it is better than dial-up service. Been a customer over 20 years. For the last 13 in this location, service has been marginal. They cant provide an HD signal for TV, so I went with DirecTV. Best decision ever. Kept the internet as backup, but its slow, constantly disconnects, and total loss of service when it rains. With their 50 Mbps pkg, I got 11-14 Mbps downloads, so I thought Id downgrade to the 25 Mbps. Now I get 4.4-6.2 Mbps downloads. That tells me its being governed somewhere along the line. Tech support policy: Blame the customer. Everything looks good at our end, its your cablemodem (or router, or network interface card, computer) My service has been out over 3 months. So I had a service call the other day. My service was disconnected at the service pedestal across the street. When I called to get credit for time without service because their technician disconnected my service at the box, it was the usual blame the customer Since you just called about it 6/20, well credit you $12.80. They have daily usage meters they can look at to verify when the service stopped. I can look at my account online and see theres been no data transfer since 4/14/14 (can only go back 3 bill cycles.) Im livid. $73.99 month, they disconnected my service at the street, and its my fault! What kind of psycho business model is that? Im supposed to monitor their techs when theyre working in my neighborhood? Its a backup service, occasionally used for monitoring equipment, surveillance, or video downloads from my other service provider. I cant use it for practical web surfing. So unless I was using that other equipment, I wouldnt have any way of knowing. Buyer beware! As an aside, CenturyLinks simple 1.5 Mbps DSL beat Coxs old 30 Meg service hands down. If youre considering DSL, pay the extra for the service call to have a new line run from the service box to the modem. Old phone wiring can affect DSL speeds. And CLs customer service is far better.

I have been with COX for seven FAITHFUL years I havent seen such bad service that I have seen in the last 1.5 months I have been having an problem with my phone dropping calls they sent me out FIVE so call techs and no one could fix the issue so then the CEO call me at least he said he was the CEO OK any way I explain to him the issue I even told him that I even changed phones thought that was the issue OH no that wasnt it either. He even offer to come out with an so call tech person I said NO thank you at that point my attitude was all ready threw the roof and I didnt want to say something that I couldnt take back I just couldnt believe it NO one could fix an simple phone line but get this I told them that I live in an OLD neighborhood that maybe someone needs too go outside and check the wires on the pole NO one wanted to do that I said maybe that would solve the problem. And of course NO one did that after all I have been with you for seven years so would that not count for something I was happy until you didnt give me what I was paying for after all your not giving me anything for free so since you treated me the way you did I have to take my FAITHFUL on time bill paying NEVER have been late and I do mean NEVER some place else treat an person the way you want to be treat action speaks LOUDER than words cox.
