2/28/17. I strongly advise all of those who think about getting your car serviced here to look elsewhere. This place doesnt take full responsibility when they do things wrong. Short story I took my car there to get checked out to ensure its safety for my son who was going to be traveling 300 miles, and going back and forth to college. I left it to them to decide how best to do that. They decided to do a complimentary inspection. They indicated that the car was in good running condition. Two days later my son drove the car 300 miles to Rochester NY and the car seized while in route. The dealer responded and offered to give me 1000 dollars, which Mr. Nappa said, was rather generous. The engine costs from 4,700 to 5600, yet 1000 dollars is a generous offer. Either I suck at math or lack the basic fundamentals of business. I wrote to Toyota Corporate Office and they investigated the matter. The Community Relations Manager from Dayton Toyota told them that I never asked for them to check my oil, and so they did a visual. Moreover, I brought my car into them with a seized engine (How in the hell is that possible unless I go it towed, and if I did wouldnt they have heard the car making a loud grinding noise. Also why would I have been allowed to take an unsafe car out of Dayton Toyota Dealership onto the road, putting myself and others in harm’s way. . I filed a small claim against them. Mind you over a year later. Peoples Court contacted me before the court date to hear the matter. Dayton Toyota declined. Four days before the trial date I get a call from their insurance company indicating that they represent Wayne’s Auto. I was like who in the heck is Waynes Auto. I was told that is Dayton Toyotas name for where they do ALL OF THEIR "TOYOTA MECHANICAL WORK." I thought I felt deceived because all the while I thought that I was taking my car to Toyota to get serviced, and find out that was a lie. I couldve just took my car to Joe Blows Mechanic shop, and I probably wouldve been better off because Joe Blow wouldve probably not been as politically connected like most millionaires are. Dayton Toyotas Insurance Company-I mean Waynes Auto Insurance Company told me that they filed a claim with them; which I thought someone did whenever you realize you screwed up. They wanted me to forward documents to them indicating what happened and what was the damage; which I now regret doing. My case was dismissed, but the ironic thing was the way in which the judge stated in his opening remarks that if someone had no documents or witnesses their statements wouldnt be taken into account. During the trial the service manager stated that he couldnt determine why the engine would seize like that, but maybe there was some type of defect with the engine that he couldnt explain. So basically I was sold a Toyota Prius with a defect engine. He presented no evidence and was able to get that malarkey to fly. I know most Millionaires are politically connected, especially in NJ. The irony of all this is that they couldve actually just put in a claim in the first place and had the car fixed. This wouldve only cost 500 dollar deductible. They also couldve at least offered to repair the car, as it wouldnt have bankrupted Dayton Toyota. Business 101: keep a satisfied loyal customer and maintain Toyotas reputation for good quality cars and services. It is for this experience with Dayton Toyota (Owner, managers and techs alike), that I forewarn you that Dayton Toyota or perhaps Toyota is not the way to go. I actually brought my wife a Honda, and the services seem great and the people seem honest. I shared my experience with them and was told by their manager that the experience I had at Dayton Toyota was sad. He even stated that they couldve went through their insurance and told me to pay the 500 dollar deductible and that way everyone wouldve been happy; hence maintaining a loyal customer and maintaining the respect and loyalty of the Toyota company.

Ron !!! his favorite words are "unfortunately we dont do that". I wont blame him, maybe its Dayton Toyotas style. Where do I start ?? Firstly they dont put the next service date/next service mileage on the sticker after the service is complete. But they only follow the rule that service has to be done within 6 months or so and so miles (whichever comes first). The sticker is stuck to be helpful for the drivers to proactively plan service due dates. And when asked he says unfortunately we dont put the next service due date. Okay never mind, I should have been responsible enough. Second, I get a call about service and they said its 29.99$ + taxes for 20k miles service that includes engine oil change, oil topups, car wash & tire rotation. Now I take the car there and they say its ~59$ (including taxes) for this work. OKAY, take it but let the work be good. My car goes in and comes out in 30 minutes, but it was just left there for over 30 mins unattended (and I was sitting there thinking theyll take it for car wash anytime now). 30 mins go by and ask this attendant there why is the car just parked there and then Ron comes back saying its ready, pay the bill and take the car...And here were the problems. 1) Car was not washed --- and he sayd "unfortunately the washing system is broken" --- WHY WASNT IT INFORMED TO ME ???? 2) Engine oil was changed - I HOPE SO 3) None of the other fluids/coolants were even touched, the levels were just the same as it was when I left the car with them. --- HE SAYS THE LEVELS ARE GOOD SO DONT HAVE TO TOP UP. THE LEVELS ARE CLOSER TO MIN LEVEL (NOT EVEN BETWEEN MIN & MAX) - AND HE TALKS MECHANICS..i expected it to be above the mid-level..... 4) Tire Rotation --- HOPE THIS WAS DONE BECAUSE I DIDNT LOOK AT THE TIRES WHEN I LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM..... JUST DID NOT HAVE THE COURTEY TO OFFER ANOTHER DAY TO WASH THE VEHICLE, WASNT READY TO TOP UP THE FLUIDS (THE FLUIDS ARE CLOSER TO MAX MOST OF THE TIME, THEN WHY TAKE THE MONEY AND DO NOTHING). Im just trying to be nice with my words for the kind of attitude this guy had. If anyone sees this review from this service center, I hope they respect the customer and offer their apologies along with the RIGHT SERVICE FOR THE MONEY THEY TOOK FROM ME !!!!! Nothing was free here, but they JUST DID NOT DO THEIR JOB. They should feel shamed for their NASTY job.

MY INITIAL REVIEW ON YELP: You thieves tried to sell me a Certified Preowned 2013 Prius that had been in an accident which hadnt been reported to Carfax, EVEN THOUGH THE BODY WORK HAD BEEN DONE IN YOUR OWN SHOP. Dont tell me you didnt know about it. If thats the case, either youre pissing in my face and telling me its raining, or your management team is so incompetent it cant keep records. RESPONSE FROM PRE-OWNED SALES MANAGER RANDY SPERCO; CORRECTED FOR FACTUALITY: Charlie, Were sorry for you last experience here. As we previously discussed, the CarFax report didnt show the repairs becuase the previous owner chose to pay for the repairs himself instead of going through an insurance company. ***Stop right there. YOUR BODY SHOP did the repairs on that vehicle. ITS YOUR DUTY as the dealership to report this to CarFax. As if that werent enough, your management team lied to me, stating that "Oh, it was just detailing work." SINCE WHEN IS FIXING A BROKEN RADIATOR AND REPAIRING A FENDER "DETAIL WORK"? One of your own mechanics, upon viewing the report, commented that it looked like the car had been in an accident. So the question becomes, is your management team a bunch of thieves, or are they just unaware of how cars work?*** I can assure you that we sold you a quality pre-owned vehicle that went through a rigorous multi-point inspection process, as all of our pre-owned vehicles do. ***Actually, you did NOT sell me that rebuilt wreck. I caught what you were up to before signing any paperwork. The only thing I bought at your dealership was a granola bar from the vending machine. Now Im not sure if it was real granola or something "reconstituted" from paper shavings and squirrel droppings.*** Please feel free to contact me directly so we can discuss your options going forward. ***Thanks but no thanks.*** Sincerely, Randy Sperco Pre-Owned Sales Manager
