November 8th 2013 I went to Retro Fitness in Hillsborough NJ to sign up for membership. While signing up at the kiosk the young man at the entrance counter kept interrupting me saying he could complete process. After completing the process I was told they have personal trainers and I can meet with them. On November 9th I met with the personal trainers and signed up to work with them. It was not made clear to me that they were two completely different companies operating in the same establishment. November 11th I submitting a letter of cancellation by walking it into the gym. My December credit card statement showed I was being charged for personal training. I went to the gym and spoke with the manager Tony, who informed me he gave the letter to the vice-president of EFT Brian the day I submitted it. December 27th I got a voice mail from Dave which I have save and he informed me EFT office was made aware of the cancellation and reassured me it was taken care of. In February I got a call from EFT telling me I owe them money. I went to the Retro Fitness and was told by Tony he gave the letter to Brian and it is out of his hands. February 20th I got a call from Brian apologizing and offered me the use of the gym at their expense. March 13th still shows my membership has not been canceled and I owe EFT money.

I mentioned to the counter girl yesterday that the person who walked in before me was illegally parked in a handicapped space. She looked at me with a blank stare and proceeded to say "that isnt really our problem". I think it is VERY discouraging that Retro of Hillsborough & its employees do not care about those who actually have disabilities and may actually need those parking spaces to do their grocery shopping or utilize the gym itself. Also- On more than one occasion & honestly, more often then not, most of- if not all the sanitary wipe dispensers are empty or the wipes are totally dried out. Ive had to ask for wipes more than once & when I have had to ask for them, Im looked at like Ive 3 heads. Thats after Im forced to wait several minutes for the employees to finish personal conversations between each other or for the girls to put their phones down. SUPER unprofessional. I hope that youve gotten the rancid BO stench taken care of that was in the stretching room yesterday. It was so foul, I left the gym without doing half my workout because the smell in the stretching room was that unbearable. I will now be using the Retro in Raritan or Manville which are both about 20 minutes farther for me the two nights a week Im in Hillsborough for work.

I never write any comments /reviews in my past life. The situation forced me to write a review to just to explain my experience and caution you about Retro Gym (Hillsborough). On Dec 12, 2015 I personally went to Hillsborough GYM and cancelled my membership and they issued me a cancellation form. After couple of months I was surprised to see some activity is going on my credit card and they keep charging me monthly dues on my credit card and additionally there is a parallel activity is going on to collect my debts (??) through collection agency. I was explained the situation to the Retro and according to them my membership is still in active. I faxed couple of times evidences of cancellation forms and they still trying to charge me monthly dues, as they are not paying any interest on my case. Staff is so rude and non-cooperative, dont have any patience to listen customers. I am requesting you all please dont join or entertain this GYM. Look for alternative gyms and save money.

I really like this gym, especially now that they have upped their class offerings. Monthly membership is pretty inexpensive. I dont use the machines really, but there seems to be a wide range & they seem clean. They even have a theater where you can watch movies while you workout. Classes include: Spin, Yoga, Zumba, Kickboxing and Ropes & Abs. I love the classes here because they are small & this really allows you to see what the instructor is doing & there is more personal attention. I think my only complaint would be that I wish they would add Pilates to their class schedule!!!

Before signing up just ensure you read all those fine print (term & conditions) which they normally print in -2 font size. Even if it needs a magnifying glass go for it but read before signing up... You might end up waste money than gaining anything .. Plus the staffs in this facility are rude

With the slightest rain the bathroom is flooded and the solution seems to be a fan. The entire place smells like mildew, no soap or paper towells 75% of the time.

Good place to exercise, but terminating membership from this place is extremely hard.
