I am so displeased with this company. ever since moving to rural Sussex county it has only been a horror dealing with this company. I mean long wait times, customer service reps hang the phone up on you when they dont know what to tell you, techs take forever to come service with no communication. No one knows what they are doing at this company the sad thing is I dont know why Sussex County does not get rid of them. They treat customers like this because they know there is no competition in Sussex County. Their service is so bad, Ive thought of moving out of Sussex county completely. For some reason Sussex county allows this company to offer unsatisfying service because they have monopolized the area. Why not offer more options to the community like Verizon, Dish Internet and Phone, AT&T. Then this would force Century link to improve customer service and overall services. I have been out of complete phone service for 5 days now and counting not to mention I was out of internet services too until a tech finally came day after 6 days. Really?! You would think as a professional company this would be a red flag that ONE customer has called over 8 times with no result. i would believe an upper level manager would call to inquire what is going on, but no. Because they do not care. I would say do not go with this company but given the options in Sussex County between their poorly rated local cable-internet company and centurylink your stuck.

They promote 20 mbps on their site for $35/month. I pay $35/month and get 1 mbps. I asked them to fix it and they said a faster speed is not available in my area. But... were on the expansion list... Whatever that means... Years ago we had Sprint and Embarq. Both offered faster speeds on the same telephone lines. But with Centurylink, nothing faster than 1.5 mbps is available. Customer service is awful at best. I called to cancel the Internet plan and waited on hold for 15 minutes. The first person I talked to said I need to speak to the "loyalty department." He transferred me to a non-existent extension and the call ended. I had to call back and sit on hold for another 15 minutes. I asked for a supervisor. When I spoke to him, he made an excuse for the previous incident and then canceled the Internet plan without even questioning why I want to cancel.

Weeks have went by and I have yet to have internet installed. Days have went by, where I have left work early to meet the installation guy and he failed to always show. Hours on the phone, transferred to FAKE supervisors. BTW if you ever do get a supervisor, and his name is Alex with a strong indian accent...he is not a supervisor and apparently doesnt even exist. Promises never fulfilled, lies after lies, sending my complaint out to BBB at this point, hopefully get this service provided shut down. Apparently all 63 other reviewers are having the same problem. Had to use Service Electric instead, which is bad but not as bad as Century Link. My real advice, if it is in your area go with Optimum, I had them and they were amazing, they just dont cover the area I moved too so unfortunately I could not transfer my service.

Is there an option for 0 stars? If so Id pick that. Not only is it the worst customer service Ive ever experienced with any company EVER but an upload speed of .7 mb/s?! This is 2016 for crying out loud. And not only that, but it uploads at a fraction of that speed. And then when we got a technician to come out he switched router and now uploads work at 100% bandwith therefore kicking me off the internet for any other site! As a business owner and photographer, Im constantly uploading GB worth of files and their solution was to not use the internet while uploading. Okay, guess Ill just not work for 48 hours straight! And then they said they are not trained in this issue and that I should just google it. SOLID RESPONSE. Worst company Ive ever dealt with, right up there with Hughes Net. Unbelievable.

Sadly, I cannot give 0 stars, but their service is the worst. Ive had my luck with decent representatives, and I truly feel sorry for them, but Century Link puts Comcast to shame! Their services are up and down and the delivered routers require more maintenance than a mainframe server (this isnt an overstatement). To make matters worse, the hardware they give out has KNOWN security vulnerabilities and are very faulty. Wed take Comcast over these guys because at least we would then have a choice in how we would be screwed over. Were also overpaying for a plan that isnt even delivering 75% of the offered speeds! Just because were a rural area suddenly means we dont need good internet? Save your money and put it elsewhere. Anywhere but in Century Link.

This is the only internet company available in my area and unfortunately not good by any means. I pay for 10mbps, Im lucky to get 5 on any given day. On top of that, if it rains or there is the slightest chance of rain, you will lose service. Im not a fan of Verizon, but I honestly will kick centurylink to the curb and sign up with them if they become available in my area. Judging by their 1 star rating, they dont seem to have any plans on improving. The company seems perfectly content knowing they have no competition in my area and will just continue charging customers for mediocre service. Im writing this review on my cell phone using my service provider because its drizzling outside and my internet is down, as usual.

absolutely horrible speeds for outrageous prices, customer service is beyond incompetent, after waiting an hour + on hold just to speak to a live person. Unfortunately in my area in town i can only choose between them and service electric cable company which is a tiny local isp that doesnt even offer anything above 10 mbps. I pay for century links highest available in my area, 20mbps, but hardly even get 5. The worst part is the isp hub building is only a 1/4 mile down the road so why is the speed soooo slow??? If only verizon or optimum would run a line down my road id bet that they would get every single resident to make the switch.

If you can get anything better please do....they shut down our Internet every month or so after we make a payment if they are slow at receiving it, and it is almost always their fault and always happens on a weekend. Their customer support takes forever and when we tell the support team they shut down our WiFi after a payment they just transfer us to another line that never answers the call and 40 minutes go by wasted. They have horrible speeds. My one friend has better download speeds but I have better streaming speeds and we live next to each other with the same century link setup...whats with that!?

I pay for 25 Mbps and never get past 15 its a rip off. They always have the Internet down around 2 AM almost every other day which is very frustrating because I am very busy at that time. Also, the customer service seems to be outsourced because everyone I have spoken too is foreign and I cant understand the people assisting and they cant understand me which is very frustrating when I need to get things fixed in a hurry. Terrible service, even worse customer service, if I had an option for another company Id take it in a heart beat.
