Culturally ignorant apathetic, unprofessional employees I had a horrible experience at the Pep Boys Stratford store today. I placed an online order for 4 Hankook tires day before yesterday. Yesterday, the online status of my order showed that the tires are available at the store, therefore I called the store yesterday evening and was immediately told by some employee that the tires have been delivered and I can come anytime. Today, I went to the tires section of store. There was this store employee named Mathew, who very disdainfully looked at me as if I was from some other planet. Probably, he has never seen a brown skin Indian guy before. I simply told him that I’m here to pick up the Hankook tires I ordered online. To my surprise, he never once asked me for the size of the tire or my order number, he went inside for about 10 seconds , came back and very bluntly told me that they do not have any Hankook tires in their store. When I told him about the online status and the fact that one of his colleagues told me yesterday evening that they have the tires, he checked the computer, went inside once again, came back and told me, again with an apparent undisguised contempt on his face that they have the tires and I should go to the parts counter to pay for them. Now, there was more surprise at the parts counter. I was served by a rather overly chubby girl, who wasnt wearing any name tag and who, at the very outset, told me that she works only 1 day a week at that store so she does not really know the processes of the store. She apparently also did not know how to use the computer for recalling orders etc, thus another girl working besides her helped her operate the computer & find my order. To my amazement, she also told me that the store does not have the tires. When I told her that Mathew has just told me that the store has the tires, she called him to confirm and, to my utter amazement, Mathew told her that he didn’t really check the tires at all. Not only could I hear the conversation they were having, she even told me verbatim what Mathew said to her. After talking to Mathew, she just shrugged her shoulders and with the same disdainful look told me that she cannot help me. Just when I tried to question the apparent disdainful and contemptuous behavior displayed by her and Mathew and tried to confront her that the Pep Boys online status, the call I made an evening before and the answer Mathew gave me a minute back all confirm that the store has the tires, another store employee named Brian jumped in and in a very matter of fact contemptuous tone threatened me not to confront them or he will cancel my order right there and then. The stupid moron probably thought that cancelling my order will be the end of the world for me or perhaps there are no other tire dealers out there in the world. This clearly shows the lack of empathy and training on the part of pepboys. He then went inside, came back within 30 seconds and told me “hey, guess what, your tires just arrived as we were speaking”. Wow, just when I was questioning their apparent adverse contemptuous behavior, they must have thought it better to get rid of me by handing me the tires. The above episode clearly shows the lack of empathy, the clear cultural ignorance of the Pep Boys employees working in this store and the lack of training on the part of Pep Boys itself to train its staff to handle other ethnicities of this globalized world. Perhaps, they must have thought of me as another ignorant brown FOB who they can disdainfully play with, look down upon and fool or, perhaps, they are all ardent supporters of Trump. :( PS: Since the Hankook tires I ordered online were being sold at a very good discounted price, I believe that the staff of this Pep Boys store could be turning away genuine customers and selling these tires at a higher price on amazon, ebay or other merchant sites.

UPDATE AUGUST 11TH...IT HAPPENED!!!!!!.CAR TOTALLED AND DRIVER INJURED!!!!!!!!! Previous review:: People told me not to go there but unfortunately they told me after Id already gone. I went because they quoted me a price for brakes on the phone ($329.)and when the work was done the charge for the brakes and other stuff was $1330....WHAT??????? I was flabbergasted!!! They told me too that they put in the cheaper brakes. Really? For all that money they put in the CHEAPER brakes??? The car also makes a screeching noise when I drive it.. ...and now it makes a couple of NEW noises....and its supposed to have been fixed. I paid to have the back tire fixed cause it leaked air....and it STILL leaks air. I have to put air in it every day......50 cents each time...$15.00 a month still.. And now it makes a clicking noise when I back the car up and when I turn corners. I also paid for an alignment and was told it was guaranteed for 90 days. Well it was still somewhat out of alignment so I took it back 6 days later and was charged again to have it realigned!!!! Ive taken the car back several times and they do nothing about any of this, they blow it off. The car is kinda worse since I took it there and not one of them cares. I have no more money to take it somewhere else...I had to borrow the money to pay for what they did. Im scared driving it and I dont feel safe in the car and am very uncomfortable having anyone in the car with me cause I dont want anyone to get hurt. Im devastated by this. I seriously need a time machine........this is just sooooooooo sad. Ive cried many times and feel very stupid. This is a sad world where all people care about is taking your money and dont care what happens to you. Sad sad world. UPDATE:::::::::: AUGUST 11TH ............IT HAPPENED!!!!!! CAR ACCIDENT TODAY .....CAR IS TOTALLED AND DRIVER INJURED!!!!!!!!!!! CAR IN JUNK YARD!!!!

My little sister (who is a new driver) took her car to this shop because she had her cars left turn signal blinking rapidly. Naturally, one would know that one of the turn signal bulb needs to be replaced by the rapid blinking. However, innocent as my sister can be, they called her on the third day to tell her that her electrical system needs diagnosis. This was $95 dollars an hour + parts and minimum of 5 hours to do the diagnosis. Obviously my sister could not afford it, so the manager and a technician lured my sister into thinking they replaced a bulb and they couldnt figure out why the bulb wouldnt turn on. The technician tried to convince my sister by taking out a dummy new bulb from her car and replacing it with yet another new dummy bulb from an opened new pack. And wolla! Another dummy bulb that wouldnt turn on! At this point, my sister was scarred into "Pay for diagnosis or leave and get a ticket. Adding in more costs to the already one you will need to incur." Turns out my innocent sister was smart enough to take that risk and get another opinion. Got her problem fixed for 4.86! That included cost of the bulb, another spare bulb and no labor at all. Better than $650 that these people were charging her to replace a bulb. I would stay away from this if I were you as youll get lied and walk away with extra $ wasted for your car just sitting there. Do yourselves a favor and save hundreds or thousands of dollars. Zero stars.
