I have a hearty inclination to give this post office 1 star. I dislike the fact that when I try to call in with an issue, the only way I find out that I wont get an answer is when the phone rings for 20 minutes. That could be set up a lot better. I ordered a package that was to be delivered today. It went out for delivery early afternoon. Upon arriving home from work, I see the parked USPS truck next to my house. The mailman is nowhere in sight. I wait in my car to see if I can talk to him, due to past nonsense with these people. Eventually, I go inside. I double back down 5 minutes later to see the USPS delivery man, a young kid, slipping around a corner next to my door. I greet him and watch him. There is nothing in my box. He scurries into his truck and pulls off. I go back inside and see a message pop up on my tracking information, 1 hour later, stating that the deliveryman attempted to deliver my package, couldnt get a response, or safe location, and left a notice. None of that is true. He not only lied after seeing me, but left no slip, leaving me to wonder where the heck my package is and how I can track it down. I despise this kind of stupidity.

Giving one star because you have to give something in order to post a review. I sometimes wonder if this PO is actually a front for a reality tv style sitcom like "The Office" because the characters are so stereotypically miserable - watching Gail work is especially painful. The longer the line, the slower she works, and the more snide comments she makes to the customers in line who have the audacity to express their frustration with the inefficient time trap that is the Beacon PO. Was just in there yesterday and saw her get into it with yet another customer. Years ago we got our passports done here with Gail and she processed them incorrectly, so in a last minute before the trip panic we had to take a day off work and go to the emergency passport center because they never came back to us. While there they told us they had been receiving a lot of incorrectly processed passports from the Beacon PO - it was an epidemic of sorts. Go to the Fishkill PO instead - so much faster and a regularly pleasant experience.

I called the Post Office concerned that my Priority Express letter was not delivered and reason stated, No one available. Store was opened at 9am. I called the office and spoke with a Mrs. Robinson who was extremely pleasant and helpful. She expressed concern and assured me she would investigate and speak with supervisor. What a delightful surprise as most Post Office workers are surly. Thanks you Mrs. Robinson.

Never had a problem with service from the older woman with long hair, but they all seem to ignore you in some way, proceed with orders before you have decided to take them. It progresses downward from there to incompetence and vindictiveness. Some of them look at you with such disdain, it makes you wonder why they are there. They must hate themselves even more than they hate the public.

The people here are FANTISTIC. So friendly and helpful. From putting in a change of address to renting a box to help with changing the lock on my mailbox everyone in this office was knowledgeable helpful and always smiling. This is the true small town atmosphere I was looking for. Thanks to everyone in that office who helped me feel right at home.

Listen Folks, Its the Post Office. Everybody likes to complain about them BUT I am always amazed that an envelope gets delivered for the price of a stamp. Lets remember that they are a little behind the times at some things but hey, they do get it done.

Friendly staff. They seem to be out of the normal stuff like voter registration cards, but have everything else. Dont go around lunch time.
