Do not use this company!!! I apologize in advance if this is long, but believe you want to know it all and should read. I was ripped off by $1000. Notice that all these good reviews are written in clusters. A bunch within a couple months last year, and several together every other time (even 2 on the same day), which to me says they hired people to write fake reviews. I only noticed this because of my absolutely horrible experience with them. I knew there couldn’t be any way they actually had decent reviews that were real. They will completely rip you off, do not use them!!! I was quoted a price just over $1000 for my move. I was very honest with them about what I had, which was very little. The issues started when I was called late Friday afternoon for a Monday morning move to be told that they had figured out the price wrong. They had calculated the mileage incorrectly and it would be hundreds more. First, at this point, I wasn’t able to call any other companies because it was late on Friday! This was obviously deliberate. Second, what company doesn’t eat the cost themselves when there is a mistake?!? That shouldn’t be passed on to the customer, particularly when it is too late for that customer to go with another company. Then, on Monday, when everything was in the truck, I was told the mileage was incorrect yet again, and that it had only been calculated in one direction. So, the hundreds that it was off by was now double! They acted like I should have known that the mileage would be there and back. First, it isn’t my responsibility to have a correct quote. Secondly, I don’t know how their company works! Maybe they only calculate in one direction and charge a higher rate. Then, I was told that my things came out to be more cubic feet than anticipated, and that was another $300. When I asked them how that could be, they said the couch was large. This is crazy because I told the person doing the estimate that I had a large sectional sofa (and honestly, it isn’t even that big, but wanted to err on the side of caution), and because the sofa as a whole maybe takes up 100 cubic feet, so it shouldn’t have been an additional 100 cubic feet (it was $3 per cubic foot). When I told them what they were doing was wrong and likely illegal, I was told that if I didn’t want to pay, they could unload my things and leave them in the street. At this point, I wasn’t even near the home of which I was moving out as I was getting the sofa from a friend that was also moving. And my friend was moving that day. So, they were literally threatening to leave my things in the middle of the street near a place to which I no longer had any connection. I decided to go with A One Van Lines initially because they weren’t going to be that much more than getting a UHaul and doing the move ourselves, particularly if we hired people to actually move things in and out of the truck. However, if I had known that the estimate was going to be over $2000 instead of just over $1000, I would not have gone with them. That is double the amount, or a $1000 difference! Considering they called me late Friday before a Monday move for the first cost difference, and then told me after my things were in the truck that it would be more, they clearly know how to rip people off. I have reported them to the BBB, and highly suggest you stay away!

First of all even if you see good rates on this company you should know that its a lie!!!!!! They will be very nice on the phone and will send a "VERY SIMPLE CONTRACT" by Email but than when they show up you are going to sing a totally different contract that actually allows them to SCREW YOU UP!!!!! We went through hell with them.. by Email they sent a quote of about $800 (we moved in the area) after they were there for 2 hours the guy kept hiring the price and it reached $1,700. they wanted even more money trying to sell us all different types of boxes and materials. They arrived 9am and worked very slow packing our house.. By 4:30pm we left to the second location to drop off the stuff (15 min drive) The disaster actually happened when we got to the second location to unload the truck, They started unloading the truck, Than when most of our things are still on the truck, out of nowhere the guy said he wants $3,000 CASH BEFORE FINISHING THE JOB or he will tell his employees to put everything back on the truck!!!!!!!!!!! We said NOWAY, We are not paying $3,000 and guess what... THEY STARTED PUTTING EVERYTHING BACK ON THE TRUCK!!!!!!!!!! We were afraid to give them cash because after they changed the price so many times we did not trust them anymore, So after ONE AND A HALF HOUR that we are arguing we said that we will call the police, So the guy said please go ahead and do so... We understood that according to the contract that we singed (which we didnt even know what we singed) he is covered!!!! So now what???? we were really getting tired and almost gave up... it was already 2 hours that the truck is outside and nothing is being unloaded, all we did is argue and fight.. they wanted the MONEY IN CASH!!!!! We ended up telling them that no matter what they will not get money... Finally after 3 F*****G HOURS they understood that they will not get money so they started to unload the stuff into the house!!!!! IF YOU ARE MOVING THERE ARE FEW RULES THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: 1. Ask for the actual contract to be sent to you 2 or 3 days before you deciding which company you want to work with, Otherwise you will sign a paper that you have no idea what it says. 2. Try to use someone that you know through a friend or a family member.. Pay more but dont through yourself in a stranger that will take advantage.... 3. Pay attention to the paying policy: When do they want the money? when the job is done? when they are with the stuff on the truck? be careful... 4. Try to have them come to the house, Look At ALL YOUR STUFF and give you a FINAL PRICE.. Otherwise they could always change the price and they will make you scared and tired and you will be forced to pay or fight for 3 hours.... 5. If they work by hours and not by the job it will be CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will work so slow and make sure that they could draaaaaaaaggggggg a 5 hours jobs to 2 days..... that means that they will suck money out of you, waste your time, make you sick for a few days........ 6. NEVER USE A ONE VAN LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND they deserve every star. I moved from Burbank Cal to Forest Hills, NY. and I have to start with Star One: There office staff. The secretary was nice, my representative Gene was tons of help, and dispatcher gave tracking info always! Star Two, like every thing in life, yes, the price went up, a little more than anticipated , but Vivian the mover, explained why, and it was worth it for the extra job and protection they gave me---and anyway, they didnt break the bank...like many people always complain.......Star Three,,the pro job of packing and loading, while being so courteous was nice. Those fellows were the greatest gentlemen. Star Four...delivery was right within the three day window they projected, and though they are NOT the promising kind of movers, they never have to break one! And for the best star of all, the FIFTH STAR...wow, there was only "TWO" broken items: a reg. size picture frame glass worth ten bucks and a cracked broom stick...To me that was like batting a thousand. I guess people who complained must have had a bad days, like we all do at times. Or maybe the crew did, who knows? As for me and my wife, we cant complain. I hope we never have too AGAIN!, But if, GOD FORBID, if we ever have to, this Van Lines for us.
