ON 2/20/2016, I took my 1999 Vokswagen Beetle to This Midas on Tunnel Rd. I thought I needed shocks all the way around replaced. Freddy, the manager called and let me know that wasnt the case. He said the two outer and one inner tie rod ends needed replaced. That saved me a ton of money. He could have told me I needed shocks. I woudnt have known the difference. I decided because of his honesty, I would use them again. I thought I needed an air conditioner compressor and took it in on 3/11/16 And, again, he called and said all I needed was an A/C pressure switch and R 134a Recharge. Again, saving me a ton of money. Incidently, I got quotes from the Veedub and the German car repair shop on Merrimon on the air compressor and both were significantly higher than this Midas. Thank you, Freddy, for your honesty and your due diligence. When my car needs any other repairs, Im "taking it to Midas."

My family and I (5 cars total) have been loyal customers of Midas for close to a decade now. Since they have undertook new management we have only experienced disappointment. I would recommend everyone look elsewhere! Last year we replaced the head gasket on our 2002 Subaru Outback at this location. Recently we were made aware that we had another blown head gasket. Midas was unwilling to help us or assist us in replacing what should have been a warranty head gasket. We had been disappointed repeatedly in the quality and cost of our service since the new management and we will not return. We want to recommend people look elsewhere in servicing their vehicles. This business is will not honor your cars warranty, will over charge you for basic repairs, and advise worthless repairs. This Midas location is NOT RECOMMENDED.

I was recently on a trip down to the race in Bristol TN, and was staying in Asheville at the Courtyard. My exhaust broke between the manifold and the muffler right by the muffler somewhere in central Virginia on I-81, and drove the rest of the way to the hotel. The next morning I contacted the Midas in Asheville and spoke with Stan, who I think is the store manager. After taking a look at the car, he let me know that the rest of the exhaust looked solid, and that all he needed to do was cut out the bad part and weld in a 3 inch section of pipe. He even sounded empathetic when he told me it was going to cost me 70-75 dollars. I was just happy that A) I was going to get to the track on time and B) they didnt tell me that the entire system needed replacing. Highly recommend this Midas location! Thanks again Stan!!

As Don said, Stan is great and Ive had lots of work done here. All the staff is excellent. You do pay a price for their work but its always been solid and theyve always been honest about what I need. Compared to other, local, "discount" shops where you just dont know what youre going to get - Id recommend them for anyone who isnt a whiz-bang mechanic themselves. Plus, there one of the few first-come, first-served places in town - if you dont want to make an appointment just show up right when they open and theyll get you in quickly.

My vehicle threw its timing belt and these guys seriously saved the day. I drive an older Toyota and do not have a lot of cash so I was stressed to the max about the repair. They kept me informed of how the repair was going and what the cost was. They were very honest and open about what they were doing and what they found(I double checked) They even gave me a ride when I became stranded there due to the snow. Sent several friends there and they had amazing service also. Well done Midas! I will be back!

WOMAN FRIENDLY. Im always iffy about doing something about my car by myself, because I dont know a lot and I am more likely to be screwed over. However, they were very understanding and they explained everything to me carefully and fully. The only complaint would be the cost of course, I paid more for them fixing it than for the actual parts; but Ill pay for good labor. Its a national name; its not going to cost the same as my backyard mechanic, but its definitely gonna last longer.

The guys at this Midas shop remember what customer service is! It is refreshing to find an honest place. I went to them after my dealer gave me a huge repair estimate. Comes to find out my car did not need 1/2 of what I was told. The guys at Midas gladly took me out to my car and showed me exactly what was going on with my brakes. They even showed me the new versus old parts! The waiting room was modern, lots of magazines, and a clean restroom! Highly recommended.

Get what youd expect. My issue was not fixed and the technician managed to get my check engine light to come one and it was not mentioned to me, I called back and they had notes on the problem. turned out to not be anything they had done but it would have been nice for it to been addressed. I found Asheville alignment of merrimon to be the best place for brakes in town, but these guys will do if its a basic job.

Update: Since my experience this location has gone under new management (and has a new staff), and Ive heard that the service problems have been resolved.. taking that into consideration, Ive changed my original rating as to not hurt the overall rating as much. I understand they are under new management, now. But, seeing as how I do my own car service now, I havent had a chance to go back to re-evaluate them.

We arrived late evening from out of town. First thing in the morning We went to see Fred 15min before their official opening time & He quickly diagnosed a badly damaged halfshaft. Within two and a half hours and at a reasonable price, the car was repaired with a new halfshaft & We were were all good to go. Thanks Midas - René Missen - Hillcrest, KZN South Africa

They tried to cheat me out of the agreed upon service. When I asked the manager to rectify the situation he got angry and defensive. And their coffee pot was infested with ants. I wouldnt go there again if they did the work for free.

Needed brakes/rotors. Thought I might save $ here. They said it would take 2hrs to look at it. It took 3.5. Then they quoted $380. I took ito my usual mechanic, and he charged me $224 for the same work. Screw the Midas touch
