As I arrived at the Grove Park Inn (Omni Hotel) for a visit, my BMW 525i overheated and had to be shut down. I was mortified, alone with a dear friend, in a city we knew nothing about. The hotels concierge helped me find BMW service centers all of which were swamped with travelers fleeing Hurricane Matthew and none of whom could give an appointment for two weeks. While looking for independent car service centers, the concierge attendant came upon the The Organic Mechanic. She was unable to offer any information or to recommend this business but it was listed as a local car repair business in the area. Frantically, I called and spoke with service advisor and explained my emergency. He asked several questions and was most gracious in offering to work an appointment in their already busy schedule to take a look. He offered the name of a tow service to be helpful. I needed to leave the Asheville in 24 hours and I was most anxious to get help. Not only did the staff at the Organic Mechanic diagnose the problem, but also because BMW parts were not immediately available for my 11-year-old car, they created a safe modified solution for this minor issue, tested the car to make sure appropriate temperatures were maintained and explained in full detail the follow-up that needed to occur for the correct repair. The cost was very reasonable and the workmanship was impeccable. I was treated with kindness, dignity and respect. I even looked under the hood and inspected the work as the service provider explained what was done. The staff at the Organic Mechanic was very sensitive to my need to leave Asheville within the next 24 hours. I am glad to say the Organic Mechanic wrote instructions for my own personal BMW service center describing recommended replacements. The Organic Mechanic FIXED the problem! I was towed into their facility and two hours later drove away happily and ever so grateful for the wonderful gentlemen who made my day. I am grateful to Grove Park Inn for providing their name, to the Grove Park Inn valet staff who made sure the towing service was able to get my vehicle and to Almightey God for blessing me with the best adventure ever. When I got home and looked up the business, it was icing on the cake to learn that the word "Organic" in the business name “The Organic Mechanic” is real and functional - this business is also green very much like George Vanderbilt. I give the Organic Mechanics a 10 out of 10 on all levels! Their unprecedented service was the best ever, bar none!!!

First off the manager and service rep are great! They were patient and great to talk to. I had a few different things worked on, on my car. All of the 2 or 3 other things where done good. However the one main thing that I came in for was not fixed and cost me around $350. So, this one thing is where my problem is. 1. When I first explained what I wanted tested on the car it was not wrote down and followed. Later I had to tell them again what I wanted done. I know this sounds strange, but Im a excellent mechanic myself and knew what I wanted done. 2. The car was not fixed and not checked properly after parts where replaced. If the mechanic would have did the same test he did to find the problem he would have seen that the same problem was still there. I think he just drove it and it seemed to work fine apparently. I say this in part because after emailing back and forth with many of my concerns and questions of what was and was not done by the mechanic I was never told that there was a conversation with the mechanic and here are the answers to the questions you asked. So Im left believing that I was ripped off. Im left believing either the mechanic did not know what he was doing or did not have the information available to lead him to do proper testing and confirming that the part was really bad. Also, when asking for a refund for the parts that were replaced when they didnt need to be, I got kinda a vayg reply that this is the info the mechanic wrote and that I could call to talk. Also, my stuff in the trunk was gone through and left a mess. I was suppose to get all my old parts back. I did not. If I would have I could have for sure verified that the part did not need replacing. When mechanics just start replacing parts because the part is indicated verses verifying for sure the part is bad I call this the replacement game. Just keep replacing parts till you get the right one. I dread putting this negative review out there. However, I would want to know about the bad reviews as well as the good. This shop has a lot of good going for it. Im guessing that I just got a bad mechanic and they were not willing to stand behind there work. I hope they do better for you.

Broke down outside Asheville in Pisgah National Forest this passed week due to a faulty alternator. Had the car towed to Organic Mechanic after a friendly and reassuring conversation over the phone. I asked if the truck could be done by the next day (surely an alternator wasnt a terribly long or expensive fix), and again I was assured it could be done and I would be on the road as quickly as possible. Shortly after I was contacted by Organic Mechanic affirming the trucks problem was the alternator, and that it would cost $475 for parts and labor. For those who dont know, an alternator costs on average between $70-$100. After contesting the ridiculous estimate, and being shot down every time, I made it very clear (in so many words) they were being horrendously unfair. The next day (when the truck was due to be done) my group and I were planning on heading back home to Pennsylvania, a 10 hour ride. I attempted calling Organic Mechanic to get a range of time when the truck would be done, to no avail. Three calls and two messages later (about an hour apart), I could not get ahold of anyone. Moments after the 3rd call, a friend of mine I was with attempted to call on his phone and was immediately answered on the other side. Long story short my experience with Organic Mechanic was horribly overpriced, incompetent, and unwilling to work with their customers.

Really nice people that I interacted with. Had a few laughs, comfortable area to hang out. But I really question their rates and mark up on parts. I recently went in with a side mirror being cracked and the servo motor malfunctioning. They gave my car a top to bottom inspection, took photos of my filters, dent in my fender, etc. Remember I went into there to get a mirror replaced not get an inspection. I myself removed the actual mirror glass so I knew it was a 5 min repair. So it took over an hour to be told that my motor was not working and the mirror needed to be replaced and it cost 51 dollars. I knew that when I took it in. I asked for an estimate to replace just my mirror (and they wanted to get a bracket that wasnt broken) since I am the only driver and never use the servo motor. I received an estimate of 62 dollars for the mirror and an hour of labor at 100.00 a hour. I looked up the glass mirror online, found an exact match for 13.00 with a 9.00 shipping fee. So I can replace my mirror for 22.00 and it will take me 5 mins to snap the old one out and the new one in. The markup on the mirror was 49 dollars. And a 100.00 for a five min. task is gouging at best. Was that gouging just me because I am a senior citizen? Does it matter? I really like the people, but I cant afford their services. Im sure that they would have done a great job.
