Only go here if you have no other choice. My review is based on frequent use of this location for work. The clerks are as rude as they come, seem to work deliberately slow, and will not offer to help in anyway. I know their job must have its annoyances but the staff seems to get through the day by exporting their misery onto others. They refused a package once because it was in a re-used box (no markings on the package), they refused to tape a corner for me - wouldnt mail it - and told me I had to buy a roll of tape instead, Ive even had one clerk refuse to lend me a pen even though all of the pens were broken or stolen from the packing area. Im fine complying with the rules that will get my mail from A to B, but the level of disrespect and unfriendliness is unparalleled. They refuse every other person at the desk instead of offering to help or solving simple things right there. There is also no where to park so use the McDonalds, or better yet just do it online and use this place as a drop-off.

Several other reviewers have stated that they have experienced hostility from the employees at this location. I am writing this review because my experience there today confirms that. When I got to the post office, there was no line. After my experience today, I have a feeling that people are avoiding this branch because of the rude employees and poor customer service. The two employees who were "working" were conversing about something not work-related while I stood there. When someone finally helped me, it did not go well, to say the least. The employee who was "helping" me was hostile, unhelpful and had a serious attitude problem. I came here to mail things, not to be yelled at and verbally abused. I left feeling disrespected and drained by what should have been an easy, routine experience. Go to any other post office in the area if you want to make sure you are treated with the respect that you deserve as their customer.

This is the most useless post office Ive ever been to. Setting aside the bad customer service which is something I just expect in post offices generally, this is the only post office I know of that doesnt have any sort of automated postage center/stamp dispenser. They also dont have a parcel drop box; just a slot in the wall with a bar in the middle that only accepts envelopes and small flat packages. I only ever go to a post office to either buy stamps at the machine or drop of a package with a pre-paid label and I can do either of those things here at the MAIN BRANCH OFFICE IN DOWNTOWN DURHAM! Whats more when I do try to leave a package at the counter they give me grief about the weight being a couple of ounces over what it says on the label. Seriously just gut the place and let Skynet take over. No one will care.

One USPS worker in particular here is racist, rude and unpleasant: Carrington. Ive seen her be absolutely hostile towards white customers nearly a dozen times, yet is quite cordial with black customers. Theres no reason for her hostility. These people have been polite with her, yet she goes out of her way to be demeaning and awful to them. Everyone else who works at this post office is professional, but the threat of having to deal with this one individual churns my stomach. Youre better off going out of your way to any other post office.

I second that. Sad but true. Axe the entire USPS along with the DOT and save the nation tons. Bringing in more competition, which is always good for the consumer as well as creating many times more jobs than lost by these haters of; overpaid, underworked, attitude-filled postal _____. I almost said workers, pft. While your at it? Follow our European neighbors in going "all-plastic" and wiping out the wastefulness of the US Mint. Waste. We need no cash or coin. Lesser economies have proven it.

This post office manages to make easy tasks difficult. Its difficult to schedule passport appointments ahead of time when no one at the office answers the phones. When they did finally answer, instead of scheduling an appt, they said they would then call me back to schedule the appt (even though Im already on the phone with them now!). Of course, they did not call back and I had to call a second time.

I saw the hours on the door for lobby are 6 am to 1 pm on Saturday I wanted to check my mail. Clearly I went at 7:30 and the doors were locked. I had to go to the Internet to find out that you were closed. I do not have a car and it was cold as I dont know what outside. I was not the only waiting to go inside. I will be discontinuing my mailbox!!!

I would give this post office NEGATIVE one hundred stars! I have experienced discrimination by the workers every time Ive been here, and now go out of my way to avoid sending mail! Not only are the people mean, derogatory, and rude, but my letters and bills have been LOST in the mail....or not posted. Avoid this place.

Ive never had a bad experience here. On the contrary, I found the service to be helpful and polite. I got in and out in a reasonable amount of time, they helped me package up things and suggested the best way to send things. They were also patient with my sending things to several different international addresses.

I am not a fan of this place. You can call all day long but no one will answer. The window use to shut down at 2pm, I think it is open longer now but when Im there it is always a line, and they are slow. I dont understand how they are 4 blocks away but our street mail comes from over off hollaway street? really?

Decent post office. The signage could be improved to let customers know which forms to fill out, as I inevitably get sent to the back of the line because I was missing a piece of information. Staff can be hit or miss, but I generally have a good experience at this location.

If you all want "respect" than you need to earn it and treat your customers like you want to be treated. Get that silly chip off your shoulder and grinding your axe at the world. We all have problems and life is hard so drop the ego and your silly attitude. Thank you.

Well, its inside a beautiful old building!! I feel transported back in time every time I enter the place. Id hate to lose the opportunity to visit the building because of these, these miserable postal employees. Maybe its the mail. Ive heard it never stops coming!!!!

I have had 3 very unpleasant experiences at this post office. This post office has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The receptionists are very short with you, unhelpful, and are not pleasant. I will not go back to this location

I tried to reach 4 offices in my area and none would answer their phone except this one. Since I have to make an appt. to get a passport, this is annoying. Finally when I called this branch a nice women named Sherry answered and was very helpful.

So far, 0 for 4 visits. It might be the least busy post office I have been to, yet the team is slow and move around like zombies. Its like someone or something is zapping the life out of them. And closed on Saturdays? :(
