I used to be a mechanic by trade and now do pretty much do all my own work on my vehicles now, aside from alighnments, tire mount & balance, and that sort of thing which I dont have the equipment necessary to do those jobs. That being said, I know good automotive work when I see it and these guys slack on whatever they can, whenever they can and dont tell the customer. Their work is shoddy at best. In March 2009 I took my car in for an alignment and to get 2 tires mounted and balanced. Had to take the car back the next day because the car was shaking so bad it felt like the tires were not even balanced. The "balanced" again, and once again it was shaking, not as bad but still a poor balance job. After the 3rd time being balanced they still were not right so I just gave up on them. Well, about 2000 miles later I noticed the middle of the tires that they mounted was getting run out, which means the overinflated the tires and causes the tread to wear funny. Then in November 09, after only 4000 miles I noticed the tires on the front were worn down bald on the inside, which is evident of pi$$-poor alignment job. So I took the car back in and they had mysteriously lost all record of me ever getting an alignment from them. I could not find my receipt but did have my credit card statement showing the charge. Before showing them my statement, I asked what the total amount would be including tax for an alignment, and the amount he told me matched to the penny what my credit card statement showed. Yet they still would do nothing for me. In November 09, the only reason I even went back to them was because I had already paid them for an alignment which they obviously had not done, and I was expecting them to fix it for free. But since my March 09 experience with them, I had heard several locals talk about how shoddy their work was and found Abe Thompson of Thompson Automotive. I took the car to him, and he adjusted it a little but said it needed a caster camber kit to get the alignment set properly and said that the way it is with the inside of the tires going bald is as good as it will get without that kit. So basically, Avery Tire did a pi$$-poor job, couldnt get it aligned right, and didnt even bother to tell me and let me ruin the tires AND still took my money. Moral of the story - go to Thompson, Abe is honest and will treat you right every time.

we brought our car in because we found a screw in the rear tire. the mechanic put it on a hoist, removed the screw and came to talk to us. he asked if the tire was leaking air and we said no. he said that our car was ready and there would be no charge since he didn;t really have to repair anything! now, because of this kindness, we have become happy customers. thank you, avery tire.

In all fairness I had to post this because my husband has taken both his Toyota and Ford pickups to Avery County Tire and Service in the past and has been quite happy with their service. I suspect that "kc" probably had a one-off bad experience, and I just made arrangements to take my own car (Chevy Trailblazer) in tomorrow and will add to this if I find anything more specific to say.

Very disappointed tried to get my truck a front end alignment and the alignment tech would not talk to me prior so they did not get my business. If you have staff that will not talk to the public working on a public job then he needs to be fired plan and simple. I will be passing this info on to everyone I know.

I have been doing business here since I had a car (38 years ago) and my family was doing business with them before then. I trust them implicitly and know they will do only what is needed, they will do it right and they will stand behind their work. You will not find a better Tire and Auto Repair place anywhere.

My experience is a 5 star rating! The guys, especially the manager, were courteous and went out of their way to help me get 4 snow tires changed to regular tires on my MiniCooper. I cannot give them enough kudos! I am grateful for the help we have available here in Avery County. Thanks, guys!!! :)

I visited Avery County Tire today for Tire replacement and balancing. They performed the work quickly and efficiently, even going to extra lengths to inspect and inflate the spare, and make sure it would lower properly from the storage space. The courteous service was superb,

Professional, friendly, and to the point. Took under 30 minutes, didnt try to sell me any extras, survey me, or rip me off. Would go back if i ever end up with a tire problem in the area again.
