Contacted Benjamin Franklin plumbing looking to have a new gas service installed for my range. This was a simple tie into the existing line. Call center rep indicated this was something they typically do and it was not an issue. When pressed for ballpark figure, the rep indicated they could not supply one, but assured me this type of install was something they do all the time. So I scheduled the visit. The plumber showed up and complained about having to do gas, indicated that the amount of work was to much to complete in under 4 hours so would have to reschedule. Then proceeded to price the job out of the market. Had to pay the service visit charge for nothing. After contacting other plumbing agencies, I find out that I was quoted double what the job would take and that the plumbing outlined by the technician was incorrect for the job. Clearly this was a case of someone not wanting to do the job and just wanting my $50 consultation charge. I would highly recommend not using a plumbing company that cant even give you a ball park quote on a job. Which by the way, this technician told me that $800 was their base charge to work with gas period. So clearly the call center rep could have given me a quote range. Very disappointed that a company would conduct business this way.

I had a leaking outdoor faucet. I called Ben Franklin Plumbing. Their guy came out; took one look at the leaking faucet and determined that it needed to be replaced. He told me, after working up a price, that it would cost me nearly $600.00 which would include the service charge. Since I did not have a shut off valve for that faucet, he worked up a price to install a shutoff valve for an additional $376.00. I sent him on his way and called another plumber. He replaced a washer in the leaking faucet and the leak stopped. He also explained that the type of outdoor faucet that I had did not need a shut off valve because it had a siphon valve which is why a shut off valve was not installed in the first place. This plumber was here all of 30 minutes and all I had to pay was $80.00. Based on this experience, it seems to me that Ben Franklin Plumbing uses a homeowners mishap as an opportunity to take advantage of the situation by overcharging the unfortunate homeowner to the point of highway robbery.

Prompt, Courteous and Professional. I was having problems with a toilet that had a weak flush, which was very frustrating with two children who have a tendency to overfill. So my husband and I decided to just have it replaced. We contacted Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and made an appointment. Joe T. showed up exactly on time. He was very friendly, polite and thorough. I was impressed by the level of professionalism as I noticed he took the time to stop and put covers over his shoes when he each and every time he entered my home. I am very happy with the quality and function of toilet that was installed. I highly recommend this company!!

I have a downspout drain partially occluded so I called Benjamin Franklin up to do a service call. The would not disclose prices over the phone because "they werent sure what the obvious problem would be". They show up, its obvious what the problem is so he pulls out his book... $400 to snake out a 25 foot, easily accessible pipe from the street. It was almost as if I waited around all day for some stranger to show up just so I could hand over $50. I really feel like I was just robbed. Whole transaction took less than 3 minutes. He backed into the driveway, walked up to the door, opened his "book", left with my $50.

I called for service and the representative on the phone said a tech just had a cancellation and he could be on the way to my home! He was one hour away............I certainly did not expect such fast service!! The technician, Donny T., was great! He was very professional, very neat, very nice, and he left no mess at all when he left! He even put covers over his shoes before he walked inside! Awesome!! You could not even tell he had been in my home after he left!
