Mr Rooter (service provider STEVE) - service Sunday , May 7, 2017 about 1:20pm NON- EMERGENCY - just a Septic Tank maintenance call Placed call Saturday afternoon to make appointment for basic maintenance service of Septic Tank. Greeter explained that on line quote of $149.99 did not include a fee of $29.99 for truck to come out. I explained I was the home owner and that the tank was a 1000 gallon tank with 2 chambers. I asked about possibilities of addition fees for normal service. She stated there were none. I assumed that this was accurate and would only change if there were anamolies in service. I scheduled appt for 1:00-3:00pm but I was about 15-20 mins late. No problem. Service appeared to be provided by company other than Mr. Rooter. Truck didnt have their name on it! I showed service provider where the tank was in the back yard, underground. For context, Id had service on this tank twice since home ownership of 2008. Id never had previous service providers add cost for digging up dirt to get to the tank. After digging up dirt with a driving machine that had a shovel attached & opening the caps, Steve knocked on my door and told me I had a problem. He asked if Id been having any problems with the system like bubbling toilet sounds. I said no! He then told me one side was almost full and that we called just in time. However, the other side was blocked and needed service at a cost of $1200+! I looked at the side in question and saw a hole full of dirt that appeared same color & consistency of the dirt hed just dug up. Needless to say, I refused service. He charged me $108.00 which included the $29.99 fee for driving out. The rest of the $108 was for digging up the dirt! I paid the fee and Steve left. I called Mr Rooter and questioned the charge. The young lady who answered the phone read the digital notes Steve had left and stated that there was a fee for "excessive deep dig" which is anywhere south of 18 inches deep. By the way, I saw him use the little dirt mover shovel and push more dirt back into the hole while he used the shovel to put the cap on.! Very angry now! Unfortunately, I didnt check them out. A non-profit organization in Roswell, Ga uses Mr. Rooter to service their apartment complex so I thought this was going to be a good experience. It obviously wasnt! Now, Ill have to arrange service with someone else and ask them to come out BEFORE my system backs up from the dirt he put in it! Before getting service from anyone: * Ask about any fees over and above the routes like "digging fees" *Ask if they sub-contract to anyone and who will actually be doing the work *You might be able to check info in your home documents that tell you how deep your tank is. *WATCH the dig from beginning to end to ensure there were no shenanigans! I didnt! But it makes no sense to have all the dirt in one hole and thered been no problems whatsoever.

Mr.Rooter came out to our house to offer a "free" camera inspection of our sewer line that we recently had them unclog. Apparently there were roots growing in the pipeline and therefore they suggested that we have a camera inserted in pipeline to see how bad the situation was. My wife was shown a camera view of a cracked joint in pipeline in our yard and was told that we had about 3 days before we would face a sewer line collapse or worse, sewage backing up into our house. They immediately sent us an estimate of $3700 to dig up our yard and fix the "cracked joint". Nowhere on the estimate for $3700 did it mention or diagnose the "cracked joint" and the issue(s) that it would or could cause. I have been trying to reach the company to inquire as to why the estimate fails to state the reason for this expensive repair, but I have been told by James, who was very understanding, that a manager would get in touch with me. Mind you, it has been 2 days since getting this alarming report from Shannon (the technician) that we could literally be in s_its creek in 3 days if we failed to address the issue of having a "cracked joint" in our sewer line. I guarantee that if I called them and said lets go ahead and do the $3700 repair theyd already have my yard dug up and my check deposited. I cant say for sure whether the suggested repair is necessary or a scare tactic to get more business, but based on the lack of a response, I have to assume the worst... Low and behold, not long after I submitted this review I coincidentally got a call from the technician (Shannon), who told me that the office told him that I had some concerns. I shared with him my concern around not being provided with a detailed diagnosis of report of my sewer problem that was going to cost me $3700. He acknowledged that they dont provide customers with a report that or analysis that states the reason or cause for the repair, only a bill that highlights the cost of said repair; a repair that, coincidentally, is not mentioned anywhere on the document. He thought that it was absolutely absurd that a customer would insist on having a costly repair explained and detailed on an official document. He said "If I need something fixed I just get it fixed, I dont care about why its not working". Basically, I should just take his word for it and fork over $3700, no questions asked. If for no other reason than to have something official to show that I had a specific problem addressed pertaining to my sewer line, I the customer, have the right to such info. How on earth would I be able to prove that I had a "crack sewer line joint" replaced if I have no documentation stating that I paid Mr. Rooter $3700 todo that specific job?All that being said, it felt less than upright and to be honest quite shady, so I cut my losses and moved on from Mr. Rooter...Beware

I love this company! Everyone was just so nice on the phone. From the beginning of my plumbing issue to the last handshake when my plumber left, I was just amazed at the couteousness of the entire staff. Last week I had my septic tank backing up into my bathtub. It was horrifying! Not knowing what to do, I called my husband, who told me to call Mr Rooter. He said his co-worker had used them too, and had a good experience with them. So I called the number I found online and also got a coupon I found there. When I called, the lady on the phone was very pleasant and told me they could have a septic guy there in an hour. Amazing! The septic guy got there within the hour, maybe earlier, and said since it had been 20 years since we had moved in and that it should be cleaned every 3 to 5 years, it may be a bit more, but hed have to look. I copletly understood that. We had no idea about this since we are used to city sewage up North. He uncovered the lid and cordially explained the rough condition our system was in. The weather wed been having caused some settling and the field drain had gotten saturated. Needless to say, with the drawing on the invoice, the knowledge of our paticular system, and the honesy of this company, we went ahead with the work. My husband and I agree, after comparing this price with the price other companies would have charged for this work, we made an excellent decision. We will continue to have this Mr. Rooter do all of our plumbing in the future. I also found out they have an electric department. Weve already scheduled a consultation with an electrician to install our chandalier next week. We were able to sign up for a discount plan for all the work we had done, and with it will be able to have a discount for any work from this company in the future. On another note, all of these guys are drug-free, have had a background check, and the management answered all my questions thoroughly.
